The origin of the Games of Minevica go a long way back. Back to a time when the Goddess decided to bestow upon the Earth a gift. This gift came in the form of a stone and would bless the people that held it with prosperity. As long as their nation held the stone, their people would be healthy, happy, and sated. The stone was a deep blue in color and flashes of purple and green would flicker across its surface.

The stone was the object of every man's envy. Each nation wanted it for themselves and were unwilling to share its blessing. The goddess was disappointed at this. She watched her three nations war with each other for years over the stone. With each passing year, she grew more tired of the never ending feud. At last, she decided that her people were incapable of sharing her precious gift, so she devised a system in which the owner of the stone should be chosen. She created an island for the purpose of this system. To this island, each nation would send its best warriors. Here, the warriors would compete against each other in teams. The goddess set up a series of tasks for the warriors to complete. If they were able to complete the task and be the first ones to do so, they were awarded a win for that game. In total, there were four games to be played - a fifth if two of the teams tied. The team with the most wins won the stone of prosperity for a decade.

Runes were engraved on the stone in the goddess' native language. Though the language of the goddess has since been lost, the meaning of the runes has not. They outline her instructions for the games. Each nation was to send 25 warriors to the island to compete. Warriors were allowed to harm each other, but not kill. The goddess detested that her children would take each other's lives for her gift. "He who kills will freeze his team for the rest of the game." Is written on the stone though there are ways to get away with murder.

For centuries, the three nations have risen and fallen in a dance of world power with the stone as its driving force, but through the many years, all three nations survived. But soon, everything could change.

The king of Ithus had recently ordered the capture and execution of a war general from Malandaia. The man Ithus executed was a man that tried to have the daughter of the King assassinated. His daughter is of an element deemed unfit for ruling. Out of fear or contempt of the dragon heir, the people of Malandaia wanted her removed from existence so she would never be a problem. They truly believe that if she were to take the throne, the world would be plunged into an era of destruction. The execution of Malandaia's war general outraged the entire nation. Both sides are heading toward the path of war at a quickening pace.

While this is happening between Malandaia and Ithus, Zeladis is beginning her plan to take both nations as her own. The vampire king and queen have long wanted to mold the entire world to their model of perfection. Most of Zeladis believes that their nation is stronger than the others and also want this. They see the creatures of Ithus and Malandaia as inferior and in need of reformation. The nation of Zeladis is so adamant of these beliefs that they are willing to go to war to fight for the other nations submission. This is their goal and with the stone up for relocation, they plan to achieve it.

There is a three front war on the brink of erupting and the year for The Games has come. Malandaia currently holds the stone, but they might not be able to hold onto it. The team that brings home the stone will most likely be the nation that comes out on top of this struggle. A struggle that might change the balance of powers forever.

How To Play The Game

The first game is modeled after capture the flag, only there are three teams and three flags per team. Instead of flags, we will be using three different items. Each team has their own key, dagger, and scroll. Each have their respective team symbol engraved on the item so we can tell what items belong to what team. The object of the game is to find all three of your team's items and be the first to bring them to the temple in the center of the arena. The items have been switched up and hidden in enemy territory. It is up to you to find or fight for these items. The other teams will try to prevent you from gaining your items. They may harm you, trap you, or even place you in their team's prison where you have to rely on either your teammates or yourself to get out. Successfully keeping enemy team items ensures that they cannot win. If you finish with more than your three items, keep the extra items. This will inhibit the enemy teams and help yours in the next game.

Each player will be allowed one small weapon and one large weapon. Up to one of them may be enchanted or magitech. Each player is issued a map of their team's territory. It shows the location of the base, the items to defend, the gates, and the territory borders. Beyond the borders it shows nothing. All players begin at the outer gates. Each territory has its own gate.

Player, beware:
◈ Enemy teams may attack at any time.
◈ Keep your team base location a secret.
◈ Enemy teams may put you in prison.
◈ The arena is full of creatures of legend.
◈ Many will try to kill you. Some may succeed.

Goddess' Rules:
◈ Players shall not kill other players, no matter the team.
◈ Players that break this rule will freeze their team for the rest of that game.
◈ Players must not leave other players to die if it can be helped, no matter the team.
◈ Players are allowed to capture other players and put them in their team's prison.
◈ It is the team's responsibility to care for their captured players.
◈ Team items are not permitted in team bases for any reason.
◈ Players may steal back any items already recovered.

Here are the starting positions of the items:

Team one's territory has:
◈ Team two's dagger
◈ Team three's key
◈ Team three's dagger

Team Two's territory has:
◈ Team one's scroll
◈ Team one's dagger
◈ Team three's scroll

Team Three's territory has:
◈ Team one's key
◈ Team two's key
◈ Team two's scroll

Here is what each team needs to win:

Don't wait for my first post! (I'm heading off to work) This thread is now open! Each team starts at their gates listed above. Your team's first order of buisiness should be to find the items their team's territory came with so they can better hide them form their opponents. =3 (only a suggestion, you don't have to do this)

This thread is now OPEN! =D

═━┈┈━═ Adapt or perish, now more than ever, is nature's inevitable imperative. ═━┈┈━═

Memori blinked up at the bright sun, the cool breeze whipping her golden locks around. Pulling her hood up her eyes wandered the land before her. This would be funner than she had thought, it was forest, her homeland. Tracking these items would be incredibly easy. She felt locating the items in their own region would be prudent. Then perhaps relocate them in much harder to reach places. Maybe lay a few traps as well. But that was for after she found them. Well they found them. Besides for Gavyn she didn't know what her team's capabilities would include. She hoped she was not the only one able to discern this forest.

Sighing her eyes closed momentarily trying to halt the onslaught of her thoughts for a moment. Pulling her map out she glanced at it, noting that the first item for team one would be in the mountains to her northwest. She could easily get there through the trees, however the mountains would be a different terrain. Looking back at the Gate the ornate gold was quite beatiful, and her team was finally gathered all together. She was happy to see a few elves as well. That meant they had a great advantage in tracking and navigating the forest.

Turning left she noticed there was a fair amount of wild life singing through the woods. Including a variety of owls..that would be useful for relaying communications to her team. A arm reached up and a tawny fellow landed upon her hand and looked at her silently. Her free hand reached out and petted him crooning softly. "I'm going to need your help now ok?" she asked him with a smile. The owl hooted at her once and she pet it once more. "Keep close." she said as the owl gave her an affection n** and took off to a tree branch.

Sighing Memori's hand found her enchanted long sword. She was used to two just like it, but the game called for one large weapon and one small. Her other hand found the short sword in its sheath. It was much lighter, and she'd have to compensate damage for speed. But she should be just fine. Her small trap set was in her pack, ready to go with a variety of things to create different unpleasant surprises for the other teams. She had planned to find the item and set it up somewhere more difficult, with a intricate trap system all around it.

Turning to her team mates she waited to see what they would say, surely the team leader would have one of his marvelous strategies.

Lightbringer stepped from the shadows of Malandaia's gate, looking around at the environment surrounding them, her head cocked as she listened for any noise that was out of the ordinary. In her hand was a hard, ebony staff that was just slightly taller than she was and held at the ready. Slung across her back, already strung, was a deadly-looking longbow. The quiver rested across her shoulder, within easy drawing range. Her staff dropped from its ready position as she determined that there was nothing but the normal sounds of exotic jungle life.

She turned her back on the trees surrounding them and looked at her team. Almost every pair of eyes was focused on her, waiting to hear her plan of attack. This was Malandaia's elite fighting force, and she had never let them down before. And they would never let her down.

Unlike other leaders, Ko had no use for long-winded, flowery speeches of glory or honor. They were here for a single purpose, and that was to retrieve Minevica's tablet and return it to its rightful home of Malandaia. "Comrades," she began, addressing her squad. "Our first goal is to locate our base. We need somewhere to operate out of safely, and somewhere to lay our heads for the night. We'll be splitting up into three teams."

"Klaus, you'll be heading east with Sigmund and Tymor," Malandaia's leader said, gesturing to the mad scientist and the golem. "Do not call attention to yourself, and tread lightly. If you find the base, light a flare. The other teams won't be able to see it from their gates, and we'll come running. Until we arrive, I want you to gather any materials Sigmund will need for his concoctions so he can start working on them."

She moved on down the line, trained for this sort of quick thinking. "Ian," she said, addressing her trusted second-in-command. "You take Kale and Cill, and go southeast. The same applies to you. If you get to the base, signal us."

"As for the rest of you, you're on me. We'll be cutting through the thickest expanse of forest here. Doan, I'm going to need your scouting skills. Lead ahead of us, but don't take any unnecessary risks." The sorceress met Doan and Aoi's eyes, making sure they understood that they were to stick together. "I'll begin working on a strategy as soon as we get to the base. If any of you find items that belong to the other team, bring them with you. We'll hide them later."

She looked back around at her team and set her staff in the ground, spreading her stance wide. "Any questions?"

~- Kirisiaru 'Kiri' Hideran-~
- The white shade -

Team one: fighter

Like the harshly falling and piled snow, it's too bright...
Like a transient fading sound, I'm not crying...
I thought it was nothing, but the reality is very painful...

Kiri walked up and stood next to Memori, wearing his usual combat gear that consisted of dark, loose pants with soft-soled shoes and feet-wrappings, a dark, sleeveless shirt lined with a lightweight leather, his distinctive, tattered scarf, sash and sleeve combination and the odd pair of ringed strings dangling under the scarf. In his sleeve he kept a small dagger that could be used for a variety of purposes in combat. To contrast it, he also had his naginata-like weapon propped over one shoulder, feeling like it would be equally as versatile and useful.

He stood with Memori for two reasons, one was her being an elf, so he naturally felt comfortable near her. The second was that he knew of her and respected her standing among the elves. He also knew she was the team's healer and a scout, so if they were set up in pairs, he would likely be sent with her to keep her alive. A part of him would've rather been paired with Theo, but Theo could fly to avoid any situation he couldn't handle. Memori didn't have that ability, so would be more likely to need a fighter to work with her.

He didn't doubt Memori's skills in combat, but if she got hurt badly in a fight, they'd lose their healer and be at a major disadvantage. It was just more pragmatic to send someone to guard her, and especially the only other elf on the team. It was also worth noting that without the mask above his scarf, he had a scar drawing down from his left eye and a sun-like mark above the same eyebrow and a scar that went across the bridge of his nose.

... The message I want to convey is 'I loved you' -no, 'I love you.'
... It's difficult, it's painful, I'm lonely, it hurts, I want to cry.
... Before saying 'thank you,' let me say 'I'm sorry'.

Truly a shame. Lesine really was excited for the big ball, her own excitement being hr downfall. Alas, she missed it. She had done herself up so finely, or at least she was going to. Preparing herself for it beforehand, it completely slipped her mind what was truly important. She had nearly forgotten the herbs and poisons that needed to be made beforehand. Some of her concoctions only had a small shelf-life and needed to be made fresh to work. Instead of dressing herself up in the most flattering dress she could grab and having the finest mask to frame her face, she was stuck cursing herself for her ignorance. Perhaps it was for the better, however! She now was moved along with those who would be her team for the time being. She didn't have some pompous dress now, she had her armor. Slim and close to her, it would probably not do the best for defense, but allowed a great amount of movement. That and it was important for her to be able to maneuver out of quickly if taking to the water. There were a good number of pouches along her belt holster, each containing vials or dry ingredients. She had it embedded in her memory by now which pockets contained which effects by that time. The ones she could grab the quickest were always paralysis. Always. She couldn't fight hand to hand worth anything, but she sure could freeze someone up long enough to run away.

She wasn't entirely sure what to make of everything. It was so... She was at lost for the proper word, but she was mystified. She was really doing this. Her hood was really up, had drunk her fill of water to keep her well for while, body tensed and ready. Amazing. Dazzling. She couldn't help but stare at those who would be her team, eyes alight with wonder. Such diverse faces, fighting abilities, and people in general. Too bad she didn't get the marvelous chance to converse with them before the games on a calm, less dire moment. No! No, right now she had to focus! It was almost painfully easy to tell who of them was their leader. She didn't need to introduce herself as such for Lesine to fall under her commend. It would be idiotic to do otherwise.

She tilted her head to the side when groups were given distinct orders. It would appear as though she would be following none of them, but the leader herself. Lessy nodded immediately. It was mainly to herself, alright only to herself, but she was ready to take her first task on this team. She couldn't mess up! At her word, the siren was ready to start running at the sorceress's back.

Delightful. The ball had finished itself and Doan could finally find the comfort only his armor could allow him. Maybe it was the hype of standing in the previous masquerade that he didn't appreciate, being there and knowing that he could be fighting anyone there not long after. That was terribly wearing on him. As was the uptight clothes he was made to wear. He was much more prepared for his current state of being. Outside the gates to their section of the arena, he took one final moment to focus himself. His jaw was clenched beneath that cloth he kept wound around his head as he honed in on the tasks being distributed among his members. As they were addressed, he did his best to keep mind of their names. He may need to know that later. The female speaking to these men and women was, without any doubt, their leader. She had the voice and tone that made it impossible to think otherwise. He greatly appreciated her taking immediately to business. No room for hesitation, no room for falter. Precise directions, full instructions. Direct. Perfect.

She moved along the many faces of their team until only a few more were remaining. If he allowed himself to feel such a way, he would have been honored that she would address him to take the task of scouting. Of course, he did not. He only felt the immediate understanding of his order. He made complete eye contact with her as she spoke to him out of respect and offered a curt nod to confirm his understanding. At her word, he would be ready to lead into the forest as swiftly and silently as he could. He looked over to the destination, not yet moving. Due to the morning sun, he had to really squint against the light. Surely he would have been more able to see at night, but... with a quick glance at the crew again, he could only assume that not everyone was able to see so well in complete darkness. He supposed he could work around that. As for his own current sight, though hindered by the light, could be maneuvered around. The tall trees of the forest they would be entering should provide far enough shade for him to at least operate.

~Blake Lostvelle~

Blake stood at the specified grid coordinates for Team three's gate. He had gotten to it faster then anyone, partly due to his shadow teleportation magic and also, unlike his "team" Blake had no one to play with. While the ball was underwhelming for the Incubus, he did achieve his primary goal of identifying all the ladies from every team, who actually attended. Blake had ditched the mask and the stiff clothes, he wore to the ball, in favor of his usual attire. He even dispelled the shadow wings spell, so he was completely himself again.

Since Blake had to deal with the members of the team, he kept the gloves on. It was a precaution above all else, since he was going to have to interact with his teammates at least until the games and begin to actively avoid them. Til then, Blake just stood around, partly debating which woman to start with, but mostly just bored.
