I'd say like a ton each if it allows him to move with such speed.

God! I've been wondering that, too. I mean, they must be really heavy if they can put a building through a mini-tremor when dropped from any height eek

Hmm...Thats a hard one. Id say that if he were to kick someone and it came loose, the person would prolly fall back ( with the weight on his face ) and when they land Im sure theyd be a certified Rock Lee PWND pancake!

Answer: Just like the Lotus Technique, he is not allowed to remove his weights unless it is to defend the lives of people precious to him. Also, the weights are part of his training, and only Master Guy can say when Lee's weights will come off.

And as the weights in general, his weights are inscribed with the Characters saying "Konjo" (^ over the o!) meaning "Guts", "True Grit" or "Willpower". Although the MAnga has never said the true weight, since there are seven "weights" to each strap, and considering some of the denciest materials, and gravity, I'd say each "weight" to be 100-150Lbs. About 700-1050Lbs per leg, or 1400-2100Lbs total.

So he'd roughly have over a ton in combined weights...Damn, that's impressive! eek

actually, i'm pretty sure that kakashi simply remarks that the weights are crude and a bit excessive. the matter of the weights is something else entirely. they bury themselves several feet underground when dropped (wikipedia says several meters) so they probably weigh considerably more than a ton together.

the real question is, how do they retrieve the weights once they're in the ground?

Height, not wieght makes a big diffence in the drop. If you drop a penny off the empire state building, you could kill a man, or bury it several feet into concrete. Lee was high up, and if you drop 1 ton off a three story building it will cause that much damage. xd

in other fights, lee drops the weights from standing height and they still make very small impact holes where the weights bury themselves. all things fall at terminal velocity so the weight would have to be immensely more than a ton to overcome their air resistance AND gain enough velocity to do such damage in the few feet that they are dropped from.

height does make more difference, but the way that Lee's weights behave suggests that they're really, REALLY freekin heavy.
