More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

He glanced over at Shane and you could see a bit of a grin on his face. He knew he had hurt him good and he also knew that if it wasn't for Annie he might have won.

Hearing her concern soothe the pain a little bit but not as much as he wanted. The Shadow Travel wasn't all the pleasant in his current state as well.

"Ahh...careful with the ribs...or back for that matter." Theonis joked as they emerged in the medical facility but you could clearly hear he was in pain.

"Sorry if I messed up your plan. Although we did get lucky that it was just them instead of the whole group huh?" He said between breaths. Just breathing seemed to hurt now but what can you expect when ribs are broken?

Trinity looked down at him her eyes were glazed,"Please Theonis, don't joke like that. They could have killed us very easily, I was the foolish one and dragged you into this too." She placed him on an empty bed and pressed the button to request assistance, "Gidget told me not to go after them... but I couldn't just stand by... all of those people... dead... why?" she shook her head as she said this.

Shane lets out a heavy sigh of relief. "Thank God." He turns his head in the direction of the sirens and curses. His body shifts and creeps, changing his appearance and clothes to look like the Daedalus agent. He takes a quick swipe against his chest with his nails, which had become claws for the purpose of creating the wound. Not deep enough to cause serious damage, but just right for stitches.

He looks at Annie and says, "If there is an ambulance, it will probably be one owned by Daedalus. I'll need you to discern that, I'll be too busy dying. I hope you took drama in high school." He drops to the ground and starts screaming bloody murder.

The police come over the last hill, now within eyesight of the diner. An ambulance is in back.

Annie muttered a few curses under her breath and demanded, "And what if they recognize me?" She sighed and drops to the ground beside Shane and picks him up gently lying him on her lap and fake tears form in her eyes, being able to control liquids made being able to fake crying awfully easy for her: easier than it had been when she had been in a few school plays during high school. Let's just hope whatever his plan is it works, Annie thought as she began to get into the act.

"Oh my God!" She gasped as the police and ambulance pulled up to the scene. "There was this man who turned into a monster..." She began sobbing even before the cops and EMTs got out of their cars.

Theonis actually did not know what to say.

"I...I don't know Trin"

After that he was silent for a short while until he tried to take off his shirt in order to look at his burns. But it was too painful to do that himself.

"I don't want to seem insensitive for changing the subject but...could you help me take off my shirt? I need to know just how much she burned me." He carefully asked.

Trinity almost blushed at the request, yet knowing the reason why killed the mood immediately. If he wasn't injured and they knew each other better she would have responded with a smile and say 'gladly' and take his shirt off as fast as she could and shower him with kisses. Her fantasy popped as she realizes he was waiting for a response.

Trinity nodded, she took her coat off. She had a few cuts and scratches, nothing serious at least this time. "Brace yourself. I'm going to treat it like a band aid and take it off fast." she drew close to him and held the bottom of his shirt then pulled it up and over his head and off his arms.

She felt weak at the sight of him being shirtless. Her fingers almost touched his chest but stopped herself as she realized what she was doing. She looked away and tried to steady herself. "I-I'm sorry... I don't know what came over me..." her hand slowly distanced itself away from him.

Theonis was aware of the situation. The delayed response and her previous action. That didn't change the fact that it did hurt when she took off his shirt. But he was sure that it would have hurt much more if he did it himself. But back to the subject...he didn't mind at all if she tried to touch his chest. He grabbed her hand and placed it on his chest.

"Ya know...I wouldn't mind if you took advantage of the situation." He said to her while looking at her beautiful eyes. He really did think they were beautiful.

S.W.A.T. storms into the diner and clears the building. A new guy stumbles out and tears his mask off, then proceeds to kneels over and vomit. He mutters something about a steaming man puddle.

They clear the area and allow the medics in. They approach Annie and Shane with a stretcher. "Ma'am please stand aside, we'll take care of your husband." They quickly throw heavy bandages onto his chest and load him onto a stretcher, all the while trying to calm him down.

One of the EMT's approaches Annie and asks, "Do you want to ride with us to the hospital?"

Shane looks over at Annie while he takes a breath for another round of screaming and nods. He has a plan.

Annie nods at the EMTs question before breaking into another sob, she manages a "Ye... yes" to the EMT's question. Annie can't help but feel absolutely ridiculous as a sobbing mess, but the EMTs are eating it up, assuming things that they see regularly.

Her ears perk up at the new guy's muttering about a steaming man puddle and can't help but wince slightly between sobs: she tended to forget what a mess her powers left when she used it against someone.

Her eyes returned to his as he held her hand to his chest. The sensation made her heart skip a beat. A wave of relief came over her as he spoke, seeing that he was serious and not just joking around. Instinct took over her hand moved from his chest to his shoulder gently pushed him down and brought her legs on the bed. She leaned toward him with her eyes closed for a kiss.

The medics load Shane into the back and assist Annie into the front passenger seat. They roll away from the scene at a quick pace. The medic in the back mentions how he can't believe this guy is alive, since the likelihood of him living was so slim.

The EMT driving says to Annie, "Don't try anything funny Soulsmith. If something happens to me this entire truck will go up in flames. Even you wont survive that. Now where is Shane Morris?"

Larry's face becomes saddened as he mutters, "Bad."

Liz nods to her brothers and begins her explanation.

"I don't know much about the politics involved, but this is what I've come to understand. Thirteen years ago, when the first meteor shower fell over knoxburg, there was a metahuman born from it who called himself Leviathan. He was very strong, and made himself stronger by eating other metahumans."

"He attacked a hospital, and killed a lot of people. Then he attacked the old Valhalla and almost destroyed it. Shane told us that's when his sisters died and had her soul stolen by a machine."

"But anyway, after that everyone was afraid of us, of what we could do. That led to utter chaos, and mass riots. Then came the Daedalus project, who said that they would police up renegade metahumans and find a solution to the problem. According to Shane, what they really want is to control the metahuman population, and weaponize us. They are ruthless, and kill anyone who tries to interfere with their plans...like our mom and dad."

"So that's why we hide. No one knows what they do after someone gets captured, but we never see them again."

"But that's where Shane and Annie were heading!" Lia panic somewhat as her gray eyes filled with worry and tears.

Kali gently wrapped an arm around her younger sister, pulling her somewhat closer trying her best to shoot her.

Jeze sighed softly and rolled her eyes before she turned to Lia, her demeanor only barely changing, and seemingly more annoying then anything else. "You know they'll be fine. They have a plan. Remember?" Seeing it had little effect, she sighed again and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Will you ever stop being such a baby?" She muttered under her breath.

"But that's where Shane and Annie were heading!" Lia panic somewhat as her gray eyes filled with worry and tears.

Kali gently wrapped an arm around her younger sister, pulling her somewhat closer trying her best to shoot her.

Jeze sighed softly and rolled her eyes before she turned to Lia, her demeanor only barely changing, and seemingly more annoying then anything else. "You know they'll be fine. They have a plan. Remember?" Seeing it had little effect, she sighed again and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Will you ever stop being such a baby?" She muttered under her breath.

One of the older children moves over to a computer monitor and turns it on. It shows cycling footage of several security cameras in the building. Right now all is quiet, the normal residents going about their business like nothing is wrong.

Liz comes over to Lia and rests a reassuring hand on her shoulder. She smiles and says, "If Shane went there, then you have nothing to worry about. He's beaten them time and time again. Maybe he will finish them off. So don't worry."

Annie's eyes widen at the EMT's threat and inside her head she lets out a list of curses at Shane, they recognized her, of course they recognized her. Shane better have a plan for this, Annie thought glancing out the window and wiping her fake tears away.

"Using my powers against you wouldn't be funny, sir," Annie replied calmly. "And Shane Morris... where is he? That's the million dollar question, isn't it? I don't know where he went we split ways," Annie lied calmly.

Her brown eyes hardening, she hissed, "A better question is where is my son? I assume he's under his father's care still."

The EMT sneers at her and says, "I don't know anything about your brat. We're supposed to bring you to the nearest holding facility, that's it. Shane had to have told you where he is going. The agent you melted said you two looked quite chummy."

The road becomes uneven and bumpy, creating a lot of noise in the front end muffling out Shane's screams in the back for a moment. Suddenly the screaming stops and the medic peaks his head in through the window connecting the box to the front end.

"Bad news, he's dead."

The EMT scoffs, "Why would that be bad, he wasn't really supposed to live in the first place."

The medic looks at the EMT grimly and says, "No not him...your partner."

A black and red limb lashes out through the window and clamps down on the EMT's neck. The paramedic's face slithers and shifts until it is the face of Shane Morris, still adorned in his hoodie. The EMT wheezes through Shane's grasp wide eyed. Shane growls, "Keep driving, answer the lady's questions, and I might let you live."

Annie bowed her head and smiled ever so slightly, maybe she should have been more trusting of Shane after all. "So about my son, or 'my brat', as you put it," Annie said coldly, "last I was aware he was being raised by Dr. Berchant. Is that still the case? Also, what do you intend to do with him as he gets older and more control over his power... a child with the same powers as me hardly seems like someone that would be easy to raise."

She had a dozen other questions she wanted to ask but instead fell silent allowing the EMT the chance to answer her questions.
