"Yeah, don't get killed."He responded to Trinity before turning his attention to the young wolf.

"So you'd try and talk an animal into suicide?"

Nova turned his head to Kerana's direction. He sensed something but didn't know what it was. He had warned her enough about the dangers of magic. He wasn't going to intervene in whatever it was that she was doing.

"So you'd try and talk an animal into suicide?"

Alec made a face and indignantly said, "No, but I if I can get it to respond to me then I can tell you where it is."

Kerana

My logical side agrees with my friends but my heart is being unreasonable. I feel that this is a burden to myself and my friends. If only this burden could be taken away. I heed your advice

Shade slid in closer to the young fox-kin and gently placed her hands on Kerana's shoulders. She cooed, "Conflict can be hard to manage for one so young. Although I have little memory of my youth, I do remember the frequent conundrums I would face."

"Unfortunately, the ability to make pragmatic choices generally comes with age. But...there might be another way."

Keleth was surprised and slightly sickened from the sudden jaunt through the shadow realm. She stood still for a moment gripping her hammer and trying not to vomit.

She personally liked Alec's idea, but she held her opinion since it was her first time participating in an Earth Diver hunt. She realized her upbeat attitude would probably annoy them. For now she just listened and took in everything so she could learn all she could.

"We know where it is. It hasn't moved for a while. But it is still there. But if you think you can help get it out then by all means do so. We have one more method we can use if yours does not work. Is that alright?" Leo spoke. He noticed Keleth and her enthusiasm. He did not dislike it. It reminded him of his first hunt. Maybe he'd let her have the killing blow.

Trinity looked to Alec. "I'm ready to proceed if you are." she held out her hand to the wolf-kin. "I can bring you close to it and you can do the talking."

As Shade spoke she felt at ease and figured she just had to be a bit more patient with herself. She did think about coming to Nova with this but he would probably think that she had air for brains. She was about to thank her and be on her way until she mentioned there might be another way.

"Another way? How so?" cat_eek
Shade had the fox girl's full attention.

Shade smiled and shifted around to Kerana's side. "It's simple. Conscience is born of fear. Fear of doing the wrong thing. Fear of how your actions will effect others. But you already know right from wrong, don't you? You're smart, and you have to admit that your feelings get in the way sometimes."

"What if I told you that I can remove all fear from you, and make you literally fearless?"

Trinity looked to Alec. "I'm ready to proceed if you are." she held out her hand to the wolf-kin. "I can bring you close to it and you can do the talking."

Alec took a deep breath and took hold of Trinity's hand. He wasn't sure what he was going to say, but he would do what he could to coax the beast from it's hidey hole.

Trinity held his hand and they sank into their shadow. She had thought for certain that he might want to take Kerana with him but shrugged it off. Perhaps it was best for her to stay out of it. Especially with the way she was acting. Regardless she brought him to where the creature was underground. "Ok we're in range. Go ahead and speak to it. Your voice will come from the shadows surrounding him."

Trinity held his hand and they sank into their shadow. She had thought for certain that he might want to take Kerana with him but shrugged it off. Perhaps it was best for her to stay out of it. Especially with the way she was acting. Regardless she brought him to where the creature was underground. "Ok we're in range. Go ahead and speak to it. Your voice will come from the shadows surrounding him."

Alec adjust his tone and voice so that he spoke in a common language shared among beasts and druids.

"Diver of the Earth, I'm one who is entwined with nature itself. I wish to speak with you regarding the hunters of the surface."

Kerana

"Really? You can… do that?" She narrowed her eyes and thought about this. Kerana felt like she had been such a pain, a burden. She thought for certain it was her heart was the problem wanting to protect everyone.

But perhaps Shade was right, it was the fear of doing the wrong thing. Fear of Alec becoming an alpha, killing someone to protect her. Fear for the victim for the family that would be left behind. A fear that expand into hunting for food. A fear that could starve them and could lead to malnourishment, a fear that was somewhat crippling her. Then there's fear of their people what they would go if they found out they wanted to be together. The fear of failing this quest. The fear that Nova wouldn't be around for much longer that it would be up to her, Alec. Becoming fearless was beginning to sound like a great idea right now and perhaps she may be able to become a better asset to the team.

"Now that I thought about it becoming fearless may not be a bad idea. How do we do this? What do I need to do?"

Shade shifted behind Kerana and wrapped her arms around the girl like a mother comforting a child. She whispered sweetly into Kerana's fuzzy ear, "Tell me you want it gone. Ask me to take it away. Let me take your fear."

Behind Kerana, Shade's eyes turned their sickly yellow as a manic grin spread across her face. With a slow and gentle movement, she pulled her arms through Kerana like a ghost. When she was through, there was a wispy image of Kerana within her embrace. The image was timid and frightened. It meekly tried to reach out to Kerana, not wanting to be taken away.

Shade's feature's returned to normal just as she began to rotate her arms and hands around Kerana's fear. It dissipated and gathered into a small glowing white orb. The shadow gripped it between her thumb and forefinger, tilted her head back, lifted her arm, and then ate the orb of fear.

With a shudder, Kerana's fears became known to Shade, and that pleased her. It was only a matter of time before she could use the little fox-kin to have her revenge against Trinity.

She smile serenely and slid in front of Kerana, helping the young one to her feet.

"It is done. How do you feel, child?"
