Courtyard (North)

[The Razz]

Rayna sighed, looking up to the sky. She reached for her ponytail and pulled the rubber band out, letting her long, red hair flow behind her back. She ruffled her hair up a bit, closing her eyes and facing Hikaru once more, opening them.

"That was the memories of my battle with Ronin..." she told her. "I won it, of course. Or else I wouldn't be here. But at a terrible price....Ollie and Hawk died. You probably don't know them, though." she said, waving a hand. She wasn't aware that Kylie had mentioned to Hikaru about Hawk and Ollie.  

[Misao]

Hikaru shook her head, a rather guilty look coming across her face. "Actually..." she said quietly, "...Kylie told me a little bit about that before, when I took her to the hospital after the fight."

This statement was followed by something of an awkward silence from Hikaru as she stared up into the night sky. This was a lot of drama happening pretty quickly, and she was still confused about a lot of it.

"...You've been through a lot, haven't you?" she said quietly, a note of sympathy in her voice.  

[L0rd Asriel]

"You seem one with nature..." Asriel said turning back to the girl. He was curious about her and her powers. He wanted to get to know her, maybe she could be one of his first friends at Ria High. He had met Yuki and the other male, but really didn't get a chance to talk to them. "My name is Asriel. What is yours?" He said, rather suddenly, changing the topic completely. The question was completly off topic to what they had been talking about before.  

[The Razz]

Razz gave her a confused look, and then blinked. Kylie had told Hikaru about her past? Well, it wasn't like Rayna had told Kylie not to tell anyone, but she was a bit surprised that she had. She then looked down to the glittering water once more, sighing. "Yes, I have. More than just the memories you saw." she told her. "My family....was murdered by that man. Ollie, my little brother...Ronin ressurected him into a kitten form to spy on me, and then killed him again. He suffered the same death twice...." she trailed off, wiping her eyes.

"And shortly after I turned fourteen....I turned into this....this horrible Beast that I couldn't control...it was a curse he put on me. After my fourteenth birthday, I was to be in a helpless, life-threatening situation. And then I would tranform into the Beast. And then after I turned fourteen, one of Maddie's rivals came and...I transformed..." she paused. "After transforming a few times after, I feared that I would hurt a loved one. So without warning I packed up and me and Hawk just...left for a while." she told her. "That's how I met Kylie and Charlie."  

[Misao]

Hikaru frowned. After having been through all of that, it was amazing that Rayna seemed to be as nice a person as she was. Most people would turn out to be seriously warped after having to suffer so much, but Rayna was one of the kindest people Hiko had met since coming to school at Ria.

"So... what happened with that, then?" she asked. "Kylie didn't really tell me very much about you guys all meeting..."

Even though it pained her, she turned form the creature and looked at him. "Yes...you could say that....throughout my families genoration, we have earned a strong bond with nature. And with that bond it makes it easier to cast spells....It also alows us to...'communicate' with nature..." This man interested her....especially his eyes. They held such power in them. She stuck out her hand on the gesture of a handshake, "I am Kathrin....Kathrin Carter....It's a pleasure to meet you, Sir Asriel."

He felt a bit akward at first, being called Sir... Again. He really didn't like it, but he took her hand and shook it with a soft grip. "Nice to meet you Kathrin. Please, just call me Asriel." He said with a slight smile. After letting go, he took another sip of the tea. "So," He started, putting his cup down on the ground. "How long have you been here?"

She still held the cup in her hands, a bit of worry in her crimson eyes, "I'm sorry if I offended you...It's just the way I was raised...to call everyone 'Sir' or 'Miss' when I would meet them for the first time..." When he smiled, she couldn't help but smile herself. "This is my first day...I'm a new here...quite literaly...my home is in the next city...How about you? How long ahve you been here? What are your arts?"  

[The Razz]

Rayna shrugged, looking up to the sky. "Well..." she started. "When I first started travelling, the first town I stopped at was Birlem. It was a failry small town, but it had an inn. The Wells' Inn. Right when I walked in I met Kylie, who was working at the front desk. She and I became almost immediate friends. A little while later, I met Charlie. For a few days, it went fine. I stayed at the inn and hung out with them. But then I had towork there in order to stay, for I had almost run out of money. And then one day...This enormous snake demon attacked the village. While everyone ran away, I stood there, staring at it. Kylie and Charlie watched me from a safe distance as...I transformed. I easily killed it, but I went into the forest and re-transformed a while later, unconscious. They found me in the morning. That's how they know of my transformation." Rayna explained.

"And during my travels, I actually met Ronin. It seemed that he had found me, for every time I turned into the Beast, it would make it easier for him to find me. And we battled....I lost, but he let me live. I had almost died then." she said, looking down. "But he left me there to die, which I wasn't about to do willingly. Then I went back home...or the school which I stayed at previously. Then slowly, I started turning into the Beast. I started to grow fur...my eyes turned red, my nails grew into claws and my teeth into fangs. I did weeks of all-night research, wearing myself out....when I discovered that to stop from turning into the Beast, I had to kill Ronin. Now naturally, this was horrifying to me." she paused, biting her lip. "Still is....anyway, I told Maddie, who's twenty one, mind you. And she offered to train me so that I could battle him. For weeks I trained hard....until one day she brought him to me. And you remember that, from the memories that flowed through your mind." she told her, looking up to her.

Finally! He had found someone new as him. He was excited, but didn't show it, he didn't mind now that she referred to him as 'sir'. "I'm new too... My arts are Swordplay and Wind Magic. Really, I should have picked something else than Swordplay, it's not really something I need to work on. I mainly came here to learn to have better control of my magic... " He stopped, feeling he was going to start rambling on about himself.

A smalle giggle ecsaped her lips as she felt the excitement in his voice. "Swordpaly and Wind Magic? So you controll the wind? That must be hard. The wind hates to be controlled and confined...it likes to be free....able to go where it wants to go...But I do wish you luck in matering it..." She took a sip from her tea, which, surprisingly to most, was still hot. "I'm here for Witchcraft myself....and just like you I don't need work on it....I just need to learn how to defend myself...eventhough I hate fights of any sort, I'm still pulled into one every now and then...and I'm not much help other then healing wounds making barriers...I'm not much of a fighter..." Her voice seemed to trail off, as if something was hurting her inside.

He stared at her for a moment, seeing that she seemed troubled by something. "Something wrong?" He asked with concern, changing the subject. He kind of liked Kathrin, in a new friendship sort of way. She seemed like she needed the company too, more human interaction than nature.

Her eyes widened as she came out of her daze. "Huh? Oh...no...Nothing is wrong..." She smiled at him, but it was a half smile. Kathrin didn't like it when she got like this. What's in the past...belongs in the past...no matter how much it hurts... "I'm sorry to trouble you...Please....don't worry about me...I'll be fine." The smile never let her lips. "Let's change the subject shall we? How old are you? I'm eighteen."

Well, I guess I should leave it alone for now...

"I'm twenty-two" He replied. He was still a bit worried about how she was reacting, especially with the smile. He unbuckled his sword with one hand from his waist. It feel to the ground with a small thud. The golden hilt and the jade jewel embedded within the hilt shone brightly in the sun. The sheath itself was made of an unlustered material, a very thick and heavy metal.

He spread his legs in front of him and used his hands as support to keep him up as he leaned backwards. He was generally comfortable. "So, you major in Witchcraft you say? Perhaps you could teach me a bit about controlling magic?" He said, taking another sip of tea from his stone cup and setting it back on the ground.
