More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

Dr. Berchant's eyes grew wide and he screamed out in pain. The truck swearved stopping at the burm of the road as Dr. Berchant pleaded, "Stop! No! I've betrayed my colleagues and this is how you repay me?! Are you willing to risk the life of Annabella's son for an experiment to see if you can consume me and take the device on safely to yourself?"

Meanwhile, Annie was in the back of the truck curled up on the seats trying to sleep when the truck swerved. Her eyes widened as it dawned on her already what was happening: Shane was consuming Berchant. She swore under her breath and swore to herself if anything went wrong and her son was placed in danger she would be the one to take down Shane herself.

"Calm down Berchant. The pain will subside in a few seconds. They aren't going to consume you. Just nest and lay dormant until I tell them to do otherwise. They can't kill you. You're perfectly safe. Now quit your blubbering and drive."

Dr. Berchant glared at Shane and took the keys out of the car ignition. "Nest and lay dormant until when? When you decide it is safe to consume me or God knows what else?"

Shane shakes his head. "Please, you speak as though I'm some kind of ravenous animal. Consuming you would serve no purpose. I'm disappointed to see that you weren't bluffing about that device in your body. Taking that into consideration I can't chance you dying until the one inside of Christian is removed. What I've given you is essentially a secondary, and superior, healing system. You wont die unless I say you die."

"However, it's quid pro quo. I can also do things to you with but a thought. If they start hurting Christian, I will do the same thing to you. And if they hit me with an electronic dart and throw me into a defensive rage like at the diner...well...there's no telling what will happen to you in that case."

"So why don't we just think again about how all of this is going to happen? Lets try to do this with as little pain as possible for all parties involved."

Dr. Berchant sighed, Shane was smart- too smart. Since Annabella teamed up with Shane it was very possible that she would get what she wanted. Annabella was smart but she was rash and that would have been her downfall but now she was sitting in the backseat letting Shane take control of the plan. "They plan to bring Christian out immediately. They hope that the shock will catch Annabella off guard long enough for one of those darts to actually work on her. You they also plan to try to subdue with the darts- or at least keep you distracted with them."

"They are acting like the incident at the diner was a fluke and that the darts might actually stand a chance of working against you," sighed Berchant. "They're hoping that once they take care of Annabella that you will calm down some."

Berchant forced a smile, "But that wouldn't be the case now would it? If we actually captured Annabella you probably wouldn't let that slide, now would you?"

"You're damn right I wouldn't. And they're sadly mistaken if they think the incident at the diner was a fluke. If my body can't differentiate where a threat is coming from, it will lash out at anything with a pulse. So my suggestion will be to do what you can to make sure that doesn't happen."

"Annie has taken into account that you could've contacted Daedalus, and that they will bring Christian out to shock her into submission. So that's another thing they wont see coming."

Shane looks away from Berchant as he ponders for a moment, letting all of the information stack inside of his mind. "The more I play out the scenario, the more times it seems likely that it will end up an ungodly bloodbath. I don't want that to happen, and I can't allow Annie and Christian to remain in Daedalus custody. It would seem that there is something of..."

Suddenly he comes up with something. He had originally planted the biomass to keep Berchant alive. But if it was an extension of Shane's will then perhaps it could be used for more.

He looks back at Berchant and concentrates on the biomass in his body. He thinks about the phrase, "Take the key, start the van." in his mind.

Theonis wondered just what it was that he said wrong to Kerana. Guess it was about Orion. Perhaps he should clear things up. With that in mind he went after Kerana and Deora.

Didn't take him long to find them but he didn't think Trinity would be there. Beats looking for her too.

"Sorry to interupt but...what exactly did I say wrong to you Kerana? I never implied or intended to do so that Orion was your boyfriend ya know."

Trinity merely shook her head at this. She's seen such a scenario happen again and again, in general. Sometimes the girl reads into too much of what the guy says and that upsets her. Or the guy would simplify things way too much for a practical solution and the girl thinks he didn't get the whole picture. Granted it is greatly simplified but the bottom line is there's some misunderstanding.

She smirked at Theonis. "I know, you're trying to help, but you'll have to give her some space to cool down before talking to her."

"Just gave her some advice on how to...make use of her powers if she has any. She didn't even tell me what it was though. Besides the obvious traits. Recommended acrobatics." Theonis said with a sigh wondering if Kerana would remember that.

He threw an arm around her shoulder.

"You're the only one who seems to like me around here Trin"

Deora was about to answer Trinity when Theonis arrived. "Sorry, trinity, I'll talk to you later." She said. Despite all that had happened, she was really enjoying the place.

The timing seemed a bit unsettling between Kerana and Deora leaving and Theonis wrapping his arm around her. It seemed like he didn't care if no one liked him as long as he had her. She couldn't help but wonder Why is it so? Have I rushed into this too quickly?

"Alright Romeo there is some business we need to attend to..." she removed his harm from her shoulder, "we need to get you registered in the database and get you set up with a room.

But first do you want lunch? I'm sorry I didn't ask you about lunch earlier and I realize that I dont seem to have your number. I wanted to call but couldn't and it just occurred to me that I didn't give you my number.". With that she gave him a card with her contact info on it.

"Yes Ma'am." Theonis replied as she told him to register. He reached out for his cellphone. Luckily for him it was still working, not thanks to Shane's assault earlier. Since he has not checked in a while he wondered if his dad left another message. Which he did along with a voice mail. There was bit of a painful sigh as he read the text. It was hard for him to pretend to be dead for his parents.

Theonis took Trinity's card."Could...could you hold on for a sec?" He hesitantly asked her. Turning around he listened to the voice mail.

A voice of older man spoke "Hello son...how have you been? Your mother wants to know if you are eating well. You never really took care of yourself when you were into your games." There was a pause." I don't know maybe I am just hoping that you somehow get these messages. They never found your body so....we are hoping you are still out there." Another pause" Well...just..stay away from those damn Meta's. You know they are up to no good! "

Theonis hung up the phone and let his shoulders drop as he looked up.
Goddammit...just move on dad. I AM a Meta. I stayed 'dead' to keep you and mom out of danger. Stop contacting me dammit..
He took a deep breath and turned towards Trinity again. His eyes were slightly wet but not enough to form tears.

"Right...lunch sounds nice about now." He said trying to sound like the usual confident guy he was around Trinity.

Dr. Berchant raised a brow. "And what am I supposed to do to stop them from attacking? It isn't my responsibility to make sure you and Annabella- and Christian- get out safely. And if they can subdue you my hats off to Daedalus, even if they lost some men along the way. You are quite an interesting meta considering how you got your powers."

As he spoke he felt his hand inch towards the key and finally put the key in the ignition and start the vehicle. He glanced down at his hands confused as they gripped the wheel and then it dawned on him- Shane was controlling him.

"You're something else..." muttered Dr. Berchant in regards to the control Shane had over him. "I am sure you'll figure out a way to keep it from becoming a bloodbath. My suggestion is obvious to what I would say: give up Annabella to Daedalus and they may let you walk away without a fight-hell I could probably arrange for you to get your sister's body back, even. Christian and Annabella are worth more than a body of a dead meta-human, anyways."

Gidget steps into the room and watches Justine move around. She has to hand it to herself. There was a moment where she actually thought that the implants wouldn't work. But then again, Shane did have a hand in it. Between the two of them they gave the blind sight.

She mulls on Shane for a moment, wondering what he and Annie are up to. The thought doesn't last long though as she says, "I have to say, you've adjusted to them fairly quickly. I was expecting you to have some difficulty at first."

"A lot of people said the same thing when I became blind." She laughed softly, and then shrugged as she grabbed a coat and slipped it on. "Besides, I guess either way I was never truly unable to see in the first place. It was more like I had lost most of my vision... never all of it." She paused for a moment. "Or I just adjust quickly." She laughed again, her smile bright.

Shane's eyes softened and shifted for a moment. He could get Gidget's body? Just like that? He mutters, "Her body...I could finally..."

Annie's eyes pop up in his mind, snapping him out of what would have been a downward spiral into his mad obsession. His face hardens again as he snaps at Berchant, "No! She's not dead, just empty. I'll get her, and Christian away from your damned talons. And I've just figured out how I'm going to do it too, because now I have the perfect unkillable human puppet at my disposal. Now shut up and drive. I'm sick of hearing your voice."
