Alex follows Trinity out of the room. As he leaves he loois behind him into the room to see Kerana take hold of Nova's hands. He feels a horrible rot in his stomach and chest. He tightens his lips and returns to following Trinity.

His mind becomes a whirlwind of jealousy and resentment. He doesn't realize it, but it is the wolf spirit within him that is causing these feelings. That part of him considers Kerana as his potential mate and significant other.

He mutters under his breath as he walksup beside Trinity.

"He's rubbing you the wrong way too huh? It seems Kerana is the only one that enjoys his company..."after saying that she realized she shouldn't have said it. "C'mon, a walk in the forest is just what we need."

Trinity began to feel sympathy for the wolfboy with the looks and achievements Nova had it would be hard to compete. By the time they reached the forest the sky was filled with stars. Not much light pollution to detract from it. "So where did you say Kerana put your satchel?"

Alec snaps out if his funk when Trinity mentions the satchel. "Just a minute." He mumbles.

He winces and groans as his ears return to their prior wolf shape and his tail re-emerges from the base of his spine. He takes a deep breath and sighs before he sticks his nose out and begins sniffing the air. "It's over this way." He says flatly.

He takes several steps in the direction he pointed out and picks up the satchel from the place Kerana hid it. He glances over his shoulder back at Trinity and asks, "Could you please turn around?"

"Master yes. As far as I know there hasn't been anything beyond that level but I am still doing research on that."

"This is what I love about magic. There are so many things that have yet to be revealed. You can use sparkles you say but are you sure that is not Lightning? If it is not then that is quite the feat to use even a fraction of a Master Tier without doing the Advanced Tier first."

Alec snaps out if his funk when Trinity mentions the satchel. "Just a minute." He mumbles.

Trinity nodded and turned away respecting his request. However the satchel held nothing but leaves in it. As this was discovered little giggles were heard from the culprits. Kerana did put it in the middle of a fairy circle, a circle of mushrooms but she didn't think that fairies existed.

Trinity turned, "What the heck is that?" Though she had been in the forest for the majority of her 3 years on the run she never run into such devious creatures, fairies.

Alec's shoulders slumpas he looks into his bag. He remembers Kerana placing them in the circle and he curses under his breath. He had been so preoccupied that he hadn't noticed where she placed his stuff. Alec knew that faeries existed because his family is one with the wild.

He stands up and sniffs the air. He smells their unique scent and can hear their mischievous laughter. "Aw man, the faeries have my stuff!" Without waiting for Trinity, Alec wraps the coat around himself tighter and follows the scent with haste. He hopes that these faeries are familiar with his family, and thus willing to give his equipment back without much trouble.

"Ahhh I see..well why don't you give me a demonstration of what you can do. Though I am not sure if we should do that here. I can put out any fire but I doubt the manager would be happy if we scorched his stuff." Nova said with a bit of a laugh

"Indeed it is. It's different from the big cities. Too many torches that pollute the sky. Sure lead the way." Nova said as he looked out of the window. He also realized that he had never really talked to someone of her race. Would be nice to get some more information about them.

The scent lead him straight to a doppleganger that looked just like him except dressed. It spoke with a lot of little voices that speak as one. As it spoke one could notice that all the teeth were many and all sharp. Ina sense it looked like shark teeth.
"Alec Yates
we know the wolf guardian guards your clan's fate
So we won't strike a deal for your soul
But we will for your clothes
of which we did not lift
they were presented to us as a gift" the doppleganger pointed to the ring of mushrooms.


"So Alec Yates
won't you join us for a chase?
If you catch us by dawns first light
We will let you have them without a fight
If you don't we will keep the gifts that were given us
and you will go without a fuss

Do we have a deal?"

Trinity caught up shortly and could not believe her eyes. She didn't know much about magic and less about faeries aside from what stories she heard as a child. From them although tricky they never told lies, but that did not mean they had some alteerier motives in mind that they simply decided not to tell him about. She knew if you struck a deal with the fae they would normally do it for a soul but thought it was strange that they seem to put that aside.

Alec's ears drop despondently. He is in no shape to try and chase the faeries. The last transformation to his completely human self had taken a lot out of him. There is no way he can manage a prolonged complete transformation now without going into a week long coma. He decides to cut his losses and barter for the one thing in his satchel that can't be replaced.

"Spirits of the forest I beg you. I have not the strength to match the speed of so many. So it will be that my clothes and equipment will remain with you. However, I implore you to return but one item to me. It is a small notebook. Within it are words and images irreplaceably precious to me. I propose that I catch one of you, and that only the notebook be returned to me. What say you?"

The doppleganger pouted and folded his arms.
"We say, nay.
Why should one, have all the fun?

Perhaps we need to shift the scale
Perhaps with the girl with the fox tail?

Her soul isn't protected at all
If you don't chase us she will fall

If you don't catch us by sunrise
She will meet her demise"

What say you to her fate,

Trinity felt for the boy how dare these creatures simply play with souls as bargaining chips. She looked to Alec and could tell he was tired from the transformation earlier, she stepped toward him and suggested "Perhaps it may help if both us chase them?"

Alec grits his teeth as they gradually begin to sharpen. "No, they aren't interested in you. They want to see me squirm, just like almost everyone else does. Take my clothes, take my poetry and sketch book...I don't give a damn. They've put Kerana in danger, and they wont accept no for an answer."

Alec drops to his knees and throws his palms into the soil. He had never attempted this technique before, only read about it. Now is not to time for him to dwell on this.

As he wills his transformation, he silently speaks to the flora. He pleads to the earth, the trees, the smallest of mushrooms to lend him but a fraction of their energy. Just enough so that he can save his dearest friend.

The transformation this time is more painful than he has yet experienced. His father told him that until the wolf spirit imbued within him accepted him, then he would struggle with sharing the wolf's power. He grinds his claws into the dirt and cries out as his bones continue their torturous change. A line of spit falls from his mouth when his face starts to reshape itself, his voice changing in pitch.

Breathing heavily, his body on fire, he throws the coat off of him and stands slowly. He glares at his mocking doppelganger and growls. "After I have caught you and saved Kerna's soul...I had better get that book back."
