"A lot of people said the same thing when I became blind." She laughed softly, and then shrugged as she grabbed a coat and slipped it on. "Besides, I guess either way I was never truly unable to see in the first place. It was more like I had lost most of my vision... never all of it." She paused for a moment. "Or I just adjust quickly." She laughed again, her smile bright.

"Do you feel you were better off without the augmentation?"

Shane's eyes softened and shifted for a moment. He could get Gidget's body? Just like that? He mutters, "Her body...I could finally..."

Annie's eyes pop up in his mind, snapping him out of what would have been a downward spiral into his mad obsession. His face hardens again as he snaps at Berchant, "No! She's not dead, just empty. I'll get her, and Christian away from your damned talons. And I've just figured out how I'm going to do it too, because now I have the perfect unkillable human puppet at my disposal. Now shut up and drive. I'm sick of hearing your voice."

Berchant smirked as he began to drive. Shane was willing to give up an easy route to getting his sister's body, it surprised Dr. Berchant. He had thought that offering his sister's body would be enough to have him give up Annabella, apparently he was wrong. Shane Morris still had nobility- he wasn't nearly as obsessed with reviving his sister as Berchant thought Shane was.

"You know Annabella is going to be your downfall," Dr. Berchant said as he drove, he wasn't going to shut-up unless Shane forced him quiet: maybe he stood a chance of reasoning with Shane Morris. "A smart man would give her up to reach a giant step in his goals. Annabella will back stab you the moment she achieves her goal and realizes what you are, trust me."

Shane's eyes turn yellow with rage as he hisses, "Gidget thought the world of her and the others, and I trust her judgement. I will have her body, and you will shut-your-mouth."

Shane raises his hand in front of Berchant's head and slowly makes a fist with it. He wills the biomass in Berchant's body to fuse his lips shut in a manner similar to what happened to Neo in The Matrix.

Shane's murderous glare intensifies as he whispers, "I'm going to enjoy watching you suffer Berchant. Mark my words, you're going to wish you could die."

Dr. Berchant for the briefest moment began to panic, but he also knew there was nothing he could do to stop Shane's control over his body, including sealing his lips shut. His blue eyes glared at Shane and he thought of a dozen curses and would have said something along the lines of, Annabella isn't nearly as uncorrupted in her thinking as she might make you believe: she has changed.

Instead he turned his gaze to the road and drove in silence. Another half hour or so and they would get to HQ.

Annie meanwhile tapped her fingers on her leg, impatient for when they would arrive. She was irritated at not being left in the know and glanced at the intercom, contemplating contacting the front seat to ask if Berchant did contact Daedalus; however, she kept deciding not to call to not deal with Berchant. She could picture how smug he must look if he did succeed in contacting Daedalus while they weren't looking...

Shane's eyes stay locked on Berchant's for a bit longer. He muses on what the good doctor must want to say to him. He sighs, and lays his head back for a moment.

What he had said earlier was not entirely inaccurate. He is exhausted, but not from the run. No, more he is tired from having to stave off his dark passenger. More and more he can feel something creeping into his mind, poisoning it. But he couldn't concentrate on that now; Annie, her son, and Gidget come first.

He opens his eyes slowly and grabs the mic from the center console. He clears his throat and keys the mic.

"They know we're coming. They are going to bring Christian out as a bargaining chip, and they may do something to try and hurt him. However, I have Berchant under my control. We'll play it out like we are letting him go, and then I'll use him as a human shield to get Christian to you. I've ensured that Berchant can't die, so there's no worry about that damned device."

"Right...lunch sounds nice about now." He said trying to sound like the usual confident guy he was around Trinity.

Trinity could see it in his eyes that something was wrong. She didn't want to press it seeing how quickly he wanted to be off that subject and so she didn't ask. Odds are he would talk about it if it really started bothering him.

"Sure... I was going to have mine to go." she said referencing the bagged salad she has. "But I suppose a sit-down lunch with you would be nicer." She didn't think about the possibility of conflicts with Tansy and Ako already in there.

Tansy laughed softly and blushed again. "Ummm." She laughed again as she looked around. "I guess guess it doesn't really matter... Does it?" She looked up at him with a shy smile.

"I guess not." Ako said. "So, shall we grab our food and head up to m room? I promise it's not too dirty."

Theonis felt slightly relieved that she didn't ask about it.

"Thanks Trin...." He said softly as the headed towards the cafeteria. It was still bothering him.He knew that his father hated Meta's. Another reason why he never told them about it.

Annie muttered a few curses under her breath finding out that Daedalus knew of their approach and that they were bringing Christian out as a bargaining chip. She ran her fingers through her curly auburn hair as she thought of the information that Shane gave her. She tapped a finger on her lips and then said, "What do you mean Berchant can't die? And how close are we to the Daedalus HQ: we have been driving for several hours now. We should be close."

"I've infected him with what I think I'll call command mass. Basically I can override any of his bodily functions and do what I feel like with it. You'll be pleased to know that if we get out of here, you can pepper his flesh with acid and it will keep regenerating. And he'll feel every-last-drop of it."

"It'll get old if he can simply regenerate after I use my power against him: I want to do permanent damage to that smug face of his," muttered Annie, almost sounding like a small child being deprived of ice cream. She knew Berchant well enough to know that the man prided himself on being blessed with brains and looks, she wanted to knock him down from his pedestal of "perfection."

Berchant rolled his eyes at Shane and held up three fingers and then made a zero. Then he quickly signed "M. I. N." They would be there in thirty minutes or less.

Shane keys the mic and says, "Thirty minutes until we arrive. If it makes you feel better, I have his mouth fused shut. He looks like Neo after he mouthed off to Smith. I'm not entirely sure, but I might be able to reshape his face so that he looks like Alfred E. Newman."

Theonis felt slightly relieved that she didn't ask about it.

"Thanks Trin...." He said softly as the headed towards the cafeteria. It was still bothering him.He knew that his father hated Meta's. Another reason why he never told them about it.

Trinity nodded confirming she heard him she turned enough to see him at the corner of her eye, "Anytime" she returned softly with a smile. As they entered the cafeteria she referred to her 'to-go' bag, "I've got my lunch. I'll go find us a seat." with that she finds a table for her and Theonis. It happened to be within visual distance of Tansy and Ako. She wondered if Gidget was able to help Tansy. She looked at her smart phone and sent a text asking about Tansy and what was she up to now. While waiting for Theonis she checked the news for possible sines of Shane and Annie. Nothing yet.

Theonis stood in line waiting, eyes cast to the floor. If you were to look at him you'd say he was extremely tired. In a way he was. His dad messed everything up. He was finally settling in and now this. There was no going back for him. He knew that. Either Daedelus would get to his parents or his dad would cast him out. There was a sigh.

Looking up to the menu he had still no idea what he would get. He did say that lunch would be nice but he wasn't all that hungry. Especially now. So he just went with some tomato soup.

Going over to the table he noticed Tansy and Ako. Kind of hard to miss Tansy. Wings stand out in a crowd.

Angel and Ako huh?...nah it's Tansy by now I'm sure. Knew he was into her. He didn't seem so happy when she smiled at me. Well...when Angel did anyway.

Putting down his soup on the table he sat down.

"So I suppose I should tell you what that was all about. I felt a bit better when I told you about the dorms so.....why not huh?" He said and tried to smile a bit.

"I guess not." Ako said. "So, shall we grab our food and head up to m room? I promise it's not too dirty."

She smiled with a laugh. "That sounds good." She nodded as she looked over to see Trinity and Theonis. She paused for half a second as she turned away from them and back to Ako. "I haven't eaten here before. Have you?"
