More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

Annie glared at the guard holding her son, "Give me my son if you know what is good for you."

The head guard sighed and stepped forward holding out the child, "Here take the brat then." Christian literally jumped into Annie's arms, his arms clinging around her neck and chubby little fingers tangling up in the curls of her auburn hair.

"Mommy!" He cried out, happily.

"Don't worry, your in safe hands now, Christian," whispered Annie. Lowering her voice she whispered in his ear, "Don't worry I will get you out of this cursed prison."

Meanwhile, inside his own head Berchant sighed as he followed Shane's commands, partially willing. He was concerned about the state of his prized experiment. "Annabella let me inspect our son," he said holding out his arms.

Annie glared at him but turned Christian in her arms. Berchant ruffled Christian's dark hair and glanced at him and smiled slightly, Christian was fine. As he inspected Christian he stood in front of Annie and Christian as Shane had commanded- not where he would like to have stood but he didn't have a choice in the matter.

Shane breaths an internal sigh of relief as Christian is placed in Annie's arms. And now that Berchant is in place he can start the hard part.

He concentrates intensly on Berchant, commanding his biomass to multiply and move to the surface of his skin. This will create a strong enough carapace to stop all but 50 caliber gun fire. He commands berchant, hold them in your arms and shield them.

Shane feels out where each of the guards are and places a mental footnote on their locations. Gidget had been wrong about how Shane's critical attack functions. It isn't just a defensive mechanism, it requires him to consume more than is necessary. The man in the diner had been enough, but he had taken in three more since then.

Shane hunches down and brings his arms in, gripping his chest as he starts to gather the excess biomass into the center of his body. The pain of gathering so much causes him to grunt and shift back to himself. He cries out in rage as he throws his arms out. Sixty black and red tendrils erupt from his body and to the guards like nightmarish harpoons.

"I don't think she does. Think she would have mentioned something as critical as that wouldn't she? Say....would happen to her after she gets her kid back? Will you hunt her down or let her go? Despite her attempt to kill me I think she and her kid should be free, away from all of this and let them be a family"

His soup was already at a good temperature so he decide to eat.

"I suppose Gidget would have said something...As for Annie...well as far as I could tell she hasn't killed any inocents and I suppose if you seem to be so forgiving on her attempt on your life, I suppose I can let her be. As long as she and her son continue not to kill people." She didn't like the thinking of herself that way, the one thing that could destroy a family, yet she would do what she'd have to protect as many lives as she could.

Christian screamed seeing Shane morph and burried his face into Annie's hair. She hugged him tightly and instinctively curled around him, willing herself not to liquefy as she normally did when things got chaotic around her.

Meanwhile, Berchant winced at the latest command of Shane's and the shifting biomass in his body. Sighing he places Annie and Christian in a bear hug, protecting them but also purposely irking Annabella and maybe Shane in the process.

Annie glanced up at him and hissed, "I know Shane is commanding you to protect us but you don't have to be so clingy about it... I swear when this is over-"

"You'll what? I'm sure Christian would love to hear your plans for his father," Berchant hissed back. Annie winced as if she was slapped and bit her lip, he was right she couldn't threaten him while Christian was here- hell she couldn't do anything to him while Christian was there. Her thoughts were racing as most of the guards fell in one strike by Shane.

The guards that didn't fall began to shoot their guns at Shane- a useless action but something done none the less. The reasoning was MAYBE just maybe luck would be on Daedalus's side.

"I don't think she would go out of her way to kill people. Only when they threaten or hurt her or her kid I guess" Theonis replied.

"Say you mind if we spar a little after the registration? I've never been good with close combat but I've noticed that I kind of absorb information. So I wanna know if I can get a hang of it now and how fast I can learn moves." He asked as he finished his soup.

Ako's smile widened as Tansy laughed, but he shook his head in answer to her question. "Haven't had a chance yet. I haven't really seen much of this place yet. I guess I was just waiting." He explained as they got into the line for food. He'd seen Theonis and Trinity, but decided not to worry about it too much. he didn't know Trinity all that well, but he was sure she would be able to knock some sense into the kid if she had to. In fact, she was hoping she would have to.

"Waiting? Hmm?" She tilted her head with a smile and a small laugh. She grabbed a tray and started looking down the line of food, picking up a few things here and there. When was the last time she even ate? She had to admit the noise and chatter of the room made her feel at peace. It was going to have to be a while before she would be ready to actually spend time alone in silence. Hopefully she would have to....

"Ah right...she was talking about Shane. I've been so preoccupied with finding the person that hurt Tansy that I almost forgot about him. As far as threats go I'm going to have to prioritize Knightly over my brother."

"Last time I checked he and an old friend of mine were heading to Daedalus headquarters. If they can do some damage there, more power to them. But Knightly is a present threat and needs to be stopped before he gets his claws into anyone else."

"Right." She nodded. She reached out and placed her hand on the woman shoulder. "Don't worry. We'll get him." She smiled reassuringly. "I'm going to get on that now. If you need me, I'll be around."

Shane could feel the bullets ripping through his flesh. Though it wont kill him it will require more and more biomass to repair. He retracts the tendrils, letting the ground become a mess of bodies. His skin hardens into a bulletproof carapace as his eyes become dark.

He feels out seven left. His right arm loosens and coils in on itself, the hand becoming a set of spear tips. He hurls it at the nearest guard , piercing the man's stomach. While the guard clenches Shane's appendage, Shane's finger's explode from the man's torso and into five other guards that had taken up formation around the unfortunate center of the biomass harpoon attack.

Shane's dark passenger whispers to him, tells him to make the last one remember. If Shane's lips could be seen through the carapace, it would be grinning deviously.

Shane's fingers retract with the five other guards still in tow. They converge and slam into the center guard like a child playing with toys. Sickening crunches are highly audible, and they fall to the ground in a pulpy heap.

His arms retracts and he slowly turns his head to the last guard alive. The man fires the entirety of his magazine at Shane, only to see that they bounce off of him like rubber balls. Trembling uncontrollably he drops the weapon and falls to his knees. Shane can feel the man's terror, and it's delicious. Shane opts to make this man's death quick.

It's over in a flash. The man's head crushes easily underneath Shane's heel, and the biomass picks swallows him up before his heart stops completely.

Shane stands amidst the carnage he created and shifts back to normal. He also makes Berchant's flesh normal again, and gives him back his free will for the moment. Shane knows this quiet can't last long. So he has to make this count.

"It's done, you can look now. Though you may still want to shield your son's eyes. It's not very pretty."

"Right." She nodded. She reached out and placed her hand on the woman shoulder. "Don't worry. We'll get him." She smiled reassuringly. "I'm going to get on that now. If you need me, I'll be around."

Gidget nods appreciatively, especially at the gesture. She muses for a moment as to why contact has been on her mind so much. Maybe Shane, maybe because she could feel in Tansy's mind. It doesn't last long though as she knows she has work to do.

She thanks Justine again before taking her leave and allowing the woman to do what she does best, police work. It's then that she notices the message from Trinity blinking on her HUD. Gidget believes she must have missed it due to the distractions.

She pulls up the message, reads it, and then sends a reply to Trinity.

Its reads:

"Everything went well. Tansy is good and healthy now. I just got done checking in with Justine to see how her eye augmentation went. Also went well. Any news on my brother or Annie?"

Berchant lets go of Annie and Christian and walks away from them looking around at the mess of bodies. Sixty men gone. What a waste. If Christian hadn't started using his power things might not have gone so smoothly for Shane and Annabella, thought Dr. Berchant sighing.

Christian whimpered in Annie's arms and muttered something about not liking "the scary man." Annie sighed, this wasn't how she hoped to introduce Christian to Shane. She cooed back, "But he took care of the scary, mean guards who were threatening you and me. He protected us."

"But... but... but he killed people," Christian mumbled back his head buried in Annie's hair.

She sighed and she said, "Yes, but sometimes you have to. As long as there are people who are willing to experiment on metas, people like you and me, Christian, there will be blood shed."

Christian pulled away from Annie slightly and said indignantly and quite fluent for a two year old, "Well I don't like that."

Berchant smirked, "He's an idealist. You can't corrupt the pure views of an idealist."

"Oh on the contrary," snapped Annie. "Didn't you manage and your goons manage to corrupt my ideals a long time ago."

Dr. Berchant laughed but Annie ignored him and hugged her son tight to her. Her brown eyes regarded the carnage for the first time, fully, over Christian's head. Her brown eyes than found Shane's eyes and met his. "Now we get Gidget's body?" She asked walking over to him.

Shane shakes his head. "No, now I get Gidget's body. No doubt Daedalus monitored what just happened and will retaliate quickly and with more force. You and Christian need to get as far away from here as possible."

Shane looks over at Christian. The boy's fear of him brings a pang to his heart.

"Like Hell I will just go in hiding and do nothing," Annie said. She turned around and thrust Christian into Dr. Berchant's arms. "Here you take my-our- son. You go into hiding with Christian and then I will go and pick him up after I am done here."

Dr. Berchant looked at Annie with an incredulous look as he took Christian. "You plan to abandon your son for some guy? Who, by the way, our son hates."

Annie held up a hand towards Berchant, ignoring him, and turned to Shane. "Dr. Berchant has no idea where Gidget's body is. You'll need someone who knows how to navigate the corridors of this place and get out. I can help with that part. You got me my son, now let me help you accomplish your goal: it is only fair. Also, I didn't come here just for my son. I came here for revenge too. I won't be happy until I have my son, the Daedalus HQ is burning to the ground, and you get what you came for."

Shane is about to rebuke, but remembers that the last person he consumed had his head crushed in. His memories were lost when Shane curb stomped him.

He looks at Annie, then Berchant, then at Christian, then back to Annie. He sighs and shakes his head as he whispers, "You damn stubborn woman."

He points at Berchant and states, "I'll be watching you. I can hear what you hear and see what you see through the biomass. You go anywhere near someone who can help you skitter off with Christian and you'll be in a world of hurt."

He looks at Annie and pulls his hoodie over his head. The shadow caused by the hood brigs out the anger and fury in his eyes. They are eyes that say anyone who dares to try and stop me will not be spared.

"Where would they keep her?"

"You just now realized I am stubborn?" Annie asked. She sighed and answered his question about where Gidget's body most likely was, "Probably on the lowest levels of the facility in the East Wing. I've been probably everywhere else in this place except there during my stay here at the Daedalus Project or when I was evading guards during my escape. It is pretty heavily guarded. I could probably get in through the air vents but you..."

"I don't know how you two plan to do it," muttered Berchant. "You both are just going to end up dead or captured. Well knowing you two captured- killing you two is near impossible. It isn't like you two can waltz out of the heaviest guarded area of the HQ toting a body."

Annie raised a brow at him and said, "I am sure Shane has a plan. He managed to get Christian out of the hands of Daedalus no thanks to you."

"Don't count your chickens before they hatch, Annabella," Berchant warned. "Our son isn't out of HQ yet."

She sighed, "Details. They'll be more worried about tracking Shane and me down than Christian soon." Spitefully she added, "Anyways, the theory is that they could always run the same experiment again, right, Dr. Berchant?"

Dr. Berchant sighed, she did have a bit of a point. Annabella was more of a prize than her son was at the moment. And if Annabella was a crown jewel of Daedalus HQ experimentation, imagine what Shane was if he was caught. Berchant's eyes lit up at the thought of it, before darkening again when he realized he was still at the mercy of Shane Morris's bio mass.

"You go ahead and go through the vents. Travel ahead and do what you can to screw with them. Disable their security, weaken the floors with acid, whatever you can come up with. I'll consume a guard so I can get a layout of this place I can work with."

"The real challenge will be to get her out of here when we find her. Once I have some knowledge of this place, I can figure out the best way to get out of here. How do you want to bring this place down?"
