Minielf Niphredil Ithilmir Does anyone know anything about non-modernist prose literature?! gonk Hmm, I studied Modern Literature in the first semester at Uni so I know a bit about this stuff. Modernist Prose Literature dates from the period around the 1890s until the ever of World War 2. So anything before or after those times counts as non-modernist. But as for definining what non-modernist is, I don't think there is a specific term for it. Prose literature before 1890 would be defined as Romantic literature, dominated by Shelley and Byron in the early 1800s, and ending with Dickens, Tolstoy and the other epic prose writers. Prose literature after 1940 is usually defined by the loose term 'Post-modernist' which covers some really wierd categories from the stoner poets like Ginsberg, to Post-colonial works from India and Africa, to dystopic visionaries led by Orwell and finally concluding with new cyberpunk writers like Gibson. I haven't studied the long period of Post-modernist Prose literature so I can't tell what it's about honestly.
Yeah, it's sort of like Post-Modernist, sort of thing.. but not really..

7Sapphire8Dragon9 Darkaznstargoddess I don't see why people bother to take college level classes or ap classes when they clearly aren't capable of being mature enought or at least open-minded..
So what if it looks good on your transcripts, it won't look good if it shows you failed it..
I'm talking about the students in my College composition and economic class. We tried to have a debate in the composition class but it sounded more like 1st and 2nd grades aruging over a playground ball.
The topic was immigration.. 90% of the class did not know the difference between ilegal and legal immigrant and they're high school seniors already.. stare
Their aruguments for why they though so was simply just sterotypes and racist messages towards other ethnic groups. It was pretty clear they had no idea what they were talking about or even a clue about the issue at all..
I actually had to speak for once.. *usually a silent student* Stating facts to shut them up.
=.= A few months left to cope with them.. I'm more desperate to send in applications for early addmissions. Or else I'm tempted to just smack people on the head until they learn to think before rambling out invalid things inclass. (¨`¤ (¨*·.¸(¨*·.¸`·.¸ ´·.¸.¤Sapphire´·.¸) `·.¸)
Same with me too >__>;; When people just reply stupid answers that they should know I feel like bashing their heads against the wall as if the answer needs to come flowing out of their head...with blood mad And I don't like putting my hand up and take part in calss discussions cos I like to see some morons stupid answers rolleyes And I get the same report every year "She needs to take part in calss discussions more!" rolleyes
So yeah, I feel your pain... Why should people that are suppose to be mature and intelligent with a brain, acting like low life little kids as if they never had a brain since they were born?

I was the same like you and Dasg in high school. I barely spoke up in class, usually because either loud-mouthed jocks who generally had lousy ideas about stuff were able to think of what to say faster than I could, or I was totally clueless about scientific or mathematical questiond that only far brainier Chinese or Indians could know.
But now at uni, I always have a major part in tutorial discussions, and my opinions in several subjects are quite strong. Equally, there aren't that many brainless talkative yobbos anymore. Even the most talkative nof students have good, well-backed and well-researched opinions that can fire some good debates.

Rant.
It was all cloudy yesterday. Didn't know it was raining in the afternoon. Had no rain coat or umbrella with me At lunch time it started to rain. Friend went 'high' and wanted to walk in the rain, making me wet during 5th period. Home time, small drizzle of rain. Waited with my friend at the bus stop (I wasn't taking the bus, just keeping her company) After a few seconds it started raining heavily, so I left my friend at the bus stop and ran home. (Haha, good luck, thats what you get for making me walk with you in the rain >=D) Took me 15 mins to get back home while running/jogging most of the way, my face, hair and shirt was wet (I just washed my hair the other day), and panting like mad. Reached to my houses front door, took out key, went in house. Outside...Reverted back to small drizzle stare
End of rant.
Curse you freaking weather stare
