Shane slowly pulls his arms out of the ground and sits down with his arms on his knees. The carapace pulls back from him. He breathes heavily as his biomass works to repair his burns. His relief is short lived, though, as the walls on the side open up. His looks up to see two mechs the size of elephants walk out of the walls and stomp toward him with weapons drawn.
As the weapons hum with life, warming up, he can only mutter, "Her designs were better."
The ground shook and Annie stumbled slightly turning into a puddle as she fell she took advantage of the confusion as more meta-humans joined the fight from the cells and quickly made her way down the corridor and down a story.
Reaching the second story she found cage after cage of bullet proof glass and two dozen guards. So I've found the high security prisons now... she thought grimly. Think what dissolves glass- alkali solutions.... Inside her head she groaned... alkali solutions were harder for her to create than acid. Focusing she began to dissolve the first few cells- holes just large enough for the meta human to crawl out of.
"She's here," one of the meta humans muttered- a woman with green hair and glowing silver eyes. Once the hole was large enough the green haired woman stepped out and smiled at the guards cracking her knuckles. "Hello boys!" She called out. Guards turned and they began to shoot when bullets fell out of the air clattering to the ground.
Annie took a deep breath as she solidified in her form- luck was with her she freed the metal controller. Now, Annie focused on dissolving the next few cages, when she began to feel light headed. Beginning to cough she focused on the next few cages pushing herself further. Fifteen cages in she doubled over coughing black blood splattering on her hands.
The metal-controlling meta human ran to her and helped her stand. "We need to get her to a healer!" She shouted.
"No..." Annie said, "I can continue." As she spoke more glass panes were dissolving and she coughed more. Her vision beginning to blur.
"There's a healer on the first floor," said a large meta-human who picked up Annie as she collapsed. "I'll get her there. It is power exhaustion. The body can't take some powers prolonged use. I saw this happen with my brother before. She has to quit using her power, now."
"But there is more to free... I have... have to help Shane," Annie said coughing, her vision beginning to go black as more cages continued to dissolve.
