More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

As they gathered their food and Theonis found the sushi bar. Trinity nodded at his comment about what she eats,"I've got to stay light but grounded. I couldn't stand to live like a vegetarian, I like meat too much too-" her phone went off and she saw Gidget's text.

"Looks like Gidget is in a good mood. She wants to meet with you right away. Better pack these to-go" she said when she packed what was on her plate to a recyclable box. She picked up plastic recyclable utensils and recycled napkins. She started to nibble at it while waiting for Theonis.

"And yet another moment interrupted by someone." Theonis joked."It's hard being popular." He grabbed his food and utensils along with the box and walked up to Trinity."Say can it wait? She already met me twice before this .....unless..... she's not the overprotective best friend type is she?"

Trinity rubbed her head at the popular comment. "No, she's not one of the 'over protective' bestfriend type. But what I do know is that when we text each other it's important. Before I left she said...' Now go and have fun, that's an order.' and she wouldn't suddenly bug me if it wasn't important after saying something like that. Sorry Theonis but I'm afraid this can't wait." without another word she wrapped her arm around him and brought him to Gidget's lab.

Something doesn't feel right but okay

"Alright let's go then." He said as Trinity wrapped her arm around him. He had shadow traveled with her a few times now but it still fellt odd

Gidget turned in her chair to face Trinity and Theonis. He demeanor is pleasant and cheerful. A complete ruse, but a completely believable one due to her lack of any real emotion. In truth she would be called agitated. But she is keeping up appearances for the sake of her good friend.

"Hey there you two. So sorry to interrupt, I hope I didn't catch you at a bad time."

"Oh hey Gidget, just about to eat but besides that...no. Must have been important that you wanted to see me right away. So what's urgent?" Theonis asked. To be honest he still thought it was strange why she needed to meet him right away but he didn't read too much into it..  

[Rikki Tikki Travi]

"Trinity told me you had a run-in with my brother earlier today. You are one of the few people that have stood toe to toe with him and come out alive. I wasn't sure if you were aware of this, but Shane didn't get his powers by the same means we did. He was unknowingly subjected to a power infusion experiment. What do you think of the power that a man gave him?"

Trinity was glad Gidget seemed to approve of Theonis. She couldn't help but think she wanted to show her that she would be alright with him. She thought it was her way to make sure that she starts off with the right foot. Then she asked him about his thoughts on Shane's powers. Where is she going with this? What do Shane's power have to do with Theonis?

"Dangerous but, not to sound cocky or anything, not that hard to deal with. I was fast enough to dodge his spikes though I don't know if he was all full strength." Theonis said as he explained it."Did...the person who gave him that know what the result would be because I can hardly imagine that he wanted this. It feels...too chaotic and incomplete."

This has nothing to do with me or Trinity. But maybe she is just curious since I fought her brother and lived

Gidget studies Theonis' vitals as he speaks. She can see he is being sincere and not in the slightest bit becoming excited. She decides to push things a bit more.

"Had he done more than wound the security forces yesterday, you would've seen what he is really capable of. As it stands I don't know how far he can manipulate his body. I certainly wasn't expecting him to create a drone in the little time he had when I spoke to him."

"As far as what the people wanted...well I'll let you see that for yourself."

Gidget turns and brings up a video log dated the day Trinity was brought to Valhalla. A man sits down in front of the camera and clears his throat.

"This is Doctor Leonard Acula, and this is day one of project Pandora's Box. On the table behind me is our subject, Shane Morris. Earlier today Shane re-injured his spine. Medical records indicate that he had fallen many years ago when he was a child, and that being dropped flat on his back has now paralyzed him. He is a valuable asset to us, and it would be a shame for his works to be marred by an injury such as this. As such I have decided to attempt something that could either kill or heal him. It is unknown what may happen, hence the name of the project."

"Shane came into direct contact with a meteor when his sister was struck a few months ago. In a rare case, he did not develop any extraordinary powers. Which leads me to believe he may have a natural resistance to the radiation given by meteor fragments. However, I saw something today that could break that resistance."

"Annabella Soulsmith, a friend of Shane's and a metahuman, ingested pure solidified meteor radiation. Her powers multiplied exponentially, breaking any prior barrier her human body held, causing her to become more than a metahuman...what I hesitate to call a demigod. If the substance could strengthen her power, why can't it strengthen Shane's spine...and perhaps repair it."

"We plan to introduce the substance into Shane directly. A means which will hopefully heal him...and maybe more. The higher ups wish to see if he will develop metahuman abilities despite his resistance due to the route. His natural defenses would most likely stop the process were he to ingest it. However, if enough is introduced directly into primary glands and organs, well...the possibilities leave me tingling with excitement."

There is a pause, then the date changes.

"Day two of Project Pandora's box. Shane seems to be healing rather rapidly. As of this recording he doesn't seem to be exhibiting any extra-"

A klaxon alarm goes off, warning of a dangerous intruder. There is another pause, and the date changes to a few weeks later.

"Day seventeen of Project Pandora's box. My God, his power is extraordinary indeed...yet horrifying at the same time. The more he consumes the stronger he becomes. Their memories, skills, and experiences all encapsulated within his biomass. His natural resistance is fighting the changes his body is undergoing, causing it to essentially destroy itself. If he stops feeding he dies. We never planned for this level of danger. The higher demand that the project be scrapped, that introducing pure radiation is too unstable to release among the public. I do not entirely disagree. The limits to which he could consume living things is virtually endless. I haven't created a demi-god...but a monster."

Gidget watches Theonis. His thermal and vital reactions will tell her if he becomes agitated and worried that he has been outed, or furious that his father came up with the experiment that created a beast.

Theonis's eyes darted all over the screen. There was his father right in front of him. Thought it shouldn't come as a surprise that he saw his dad doing a video log. He knew that his father did that a lot during work but this was about Shane. But he wouldn't...would he? Theonis already knew the answer to that. He knew what his father would do for 'science'.

"Dad...you....I....ah.." But the words wouldn't come out of his mouth. He struggled to say those words. His mind was in disarray. His fathers intent was to heal Shane and maybe give him powers. But that experiment gave birth to one of the most dangerous Metas out there.Was he working for Valhalla at that time and moved on to Daedelus or did he do something else afterwards? What is he working on now?

Due to this overload, without realizing his powers flared up.Shifting from a much heavier downwards pressure to a strong upwards pressure and from side to side. The most important question remained in his mind

What if that can create more like Shane?

As she heard Theonis call the man 'Dad' Trinity's jaw dropped. What?! His father did this to Shane? What have I gotten myself into?. She wasn't sure if she wanted any furher to do with him. Yet she saw how he took the news he didn't know. He couldn't have.

Then she remembered her conversation with Gidget yesterday. "Wait a minute Gidget, yesterday you said the people that did this to Shane died years ago." Cautiously she approached Theonis, and places her hand on his back trying to calm him, "I know this is a lot to take in... When was that last voice message you got from him sent? It's was recent right?"

Gidget could see the turmoil taking place in Theonis' body. This assured her trust in him. She would feel guilt for doing this to him if she could.

"I never looked into confirming that. Shane had told me that he had taken the initiative to kill them. Either he neglected the man that came up with the notion, or he allowed him to live for whatever reason."

"Theonis, I'm sorry that I had to do this to you. But I needed to know that you weren't here on his behalf. I can see now that you didn't know about his involvement in making Shane what he is. He worked here along side Shane many years ago. Unlike Shane, though, he was aware of the true purpose behind this facility. He was part of the group that would later form Daedalus. Beyond that I don't know what he has been doing. I was hoping that you could fill in the blanks."

Theonis was calming down a bit. His reaction was mostly due to the fact that he didn't want to face what he had always suspected him working with Daedelus. His power stopped.

"Right before we had lunch yeah. But that was just is usual 'how are you' talk." He sighed." The idiot should let go and stop sending me messages. Doesn't even know I am something he hates."

His eyes were still cast down. All of it still sinking in. "I've,,,,always suspected him...to be a part of it after the accident. But he never talked about details at home. Last thing he know he said bout work was that they were moving to he next phase. But that's all he said about it."

Gidget asks, "Something he hates? For all intents and purposes he seemed fascinated by the idea of increasing metahuman potential. Did something happen?"
