Courtyard (South)

"You're so grumpy." She smiled broadly, knowing that she was wearing him down, "-How did you even know I would ask for some? I have my own." She held up a bottle of water, "Are you like a nymph or mermaid, Kumi-chan?" She asked in that same cutesie tone, "'Cause mermaids are awesome. I've met a few, I've always been jealous of them." She chattered away as if he was responding to her, "If it's just water why can't I have some, you're lying aren't you?" She said switching subjects rapidly and then back, "Hey, are you like sponge? If I submerge you in a pool will all the water be gone?"

Kara looked around at the campus for a good place to rest from dragging her trunk around. She finally found a place under an oak tree.She sighed and sat down and set her trunk right next to her. Kara stretched out her legs and leaned against the hard trunk of the tree. She soon fell asleep.  

[Kumizu]

Kumizu felt one brain cell being stripped from his head and stomped on every second he listened to this girl talk. He took his hand out of the water and slowly turned toward her. "SHUT UP!!!!!!"

He was breathing heavily, in that sort of trying-to-stop-yourself-from-killing-someone sort of way. "My God, just stop talking! No I'm not a mermaid, no I'm not a sponge, and no you can't have any of my ******** water! Are you happy now?" He didn't wait for a response. "Good. Now shut the hell up!"

Kara jerked awake from the loud conversation. She quickly sat up and looked for where the noise had come from.

Ayise's mouth shut promptly, although her eyes danced in pure amusement. She looked as though she would burst out laughing at any moment. She tilted her head from side to side as she looked at him, she seemed to have continued speaking to him in her head. Carrying on her chatter in her own little world. She teemed with questions that would, no doubt, come pouring out in a nonsensical order the moment she got the chance.

She shifted from one foot to another and looked at him with expectant green, apprently waiting for him to give her permission to speak again. Her shoulders twitched and so did her cheeks as she restrained herself from laughing.

Finally. If I had known that's all it took, I would've shut her up in the dining hall. Not having to listen to her talk calmed Kumizu relatively down. But, everytime he looked at her, she had an amused look in her eyes. Probably something else to get under my skin.

Seeing this look without knowing what she was thinking bothered him a bit too much, but he found a solution. He turned his back to her and focused on letting his hand drift in the fountain again. He pulled off his glove this time; he loved the way the water trickled between his fingers.

Ayise merely came closer to stand next to him and watched with that smae bemused expression, a torrent of thoughts behind her expression. She watched quietly for a moment before beginning to hum softly, rocking on her heels in complete concentration. Her eyes completely focused on his face as she hummed. The corners of her mouth twitched every few moments but she kept her position of observing without a word.

"..." Her smile grew a bit bigger.  

[Kumizu]

Now Ayise was standing right over his shoulder. Not only that, but she was watching every single move he made. And humming. And if he turned, she still had that same look on her face... no, actually, it grew bigger. He considered throwing water on her to see if she would melt. He also thought about throwing his cane at her and making a run for it, but she could easily catch him, even with its help.

Kumizu sighed unhappily. This wasn't going to stop. He cupped his hands in the fountain and splashed some water on his face. In the second or two it took for him to get from that position to facing her his face dried completely. Too late he realized she would just get into the sponge topic again.

Kumizu knew he would regret this. One word and he would lose his sanity, bit by bit. One single word and he would try to stab his ears with his cane. One single word and he'd be damned to hell for all eternity. But, he said that one single word anyway. "What?"

Ayise began to laugh in a flittery way, "What?" She continued to giggle, "You wanted me to stop and so I did. Now, you want me to speak to you? Make up your mind Kumi-chan." She said in a very calm way, unlike her excited chatter of a few minutes ago. Her expression solidifying on her face, her body relaxed a bit, "Do you want me to talk to you or to stay quiet? Do you hate me already? You should understand that I don't care whether or not you're nice to me. I knew you before you'd laid eyes on me. Well?"

Katie walked across the courtyard, her bag began to sway back and forth, wherever she went. She finally sat down on the grass, and pulled a small book out, she began to read, looking up from time to time on what was going on around her.  

[Kumizu]

Wonderful. I'm either in pain, suspense, or remorse. No matter what this girl does I'm going to be in torture for the rest of the night. Still, he did feel a bit guilty, and confused about her complete change in attitude.

Kumizu's voice was calmer now. "As long as you don't ramble on about rather simple and random topics, I don't mind if you speak. I... well, I can't say I hate you, but since this is the first time we've met, I don't like you very much, either. It's just been a rough couple of days at the school and my patience is very thin."

"Don't be too worried just stay with me no one will bother us. They will probably think what a lucky girl you are to be with me, they have seen me enough." with that Taqune laughs soft. He jumped down from the tree and looks back up at you."come on it wont take long." Once she is down he takes her hand as they go towards the town and mall.

"See? You weren't angry at me. Kumi-chan, you have misplaced and repressed anger." She said letting her face fall into a mask of pleasent blankness. "A rough couple of days? Try a lifetime of discomfort then talk to me," She laughed, for her comment considering her behavior seemed strange, she seemed the type that had been born laughing and having a good time in her own little world. She'd probably been smothered in affection as a young child.

She made eye contact with him and held him with her gaze, "You should take it easy and remember there's always someone worse off than you."  

[Kumizu]

Kumizu rolled his eyes. Misplaced and repressed anger? Now she's my shrink. However, he did bite his tongue when she mentioned a "lifetime of discomfort". He reminded himself that everyone had skeletons in their closet, and he shouldn't just assume he'd had a worst past than Ayise. He did anyway.

"I know there's someone worse off than me. The problem is, I don't know..." He let his voice trail off. First off, it wasn't very good advice, and secondly, that's the last thing he'd tell anyone.

"So you're just going to stop talking? No fair. You've already seen my little indescretion. So it's only fair if I know a secret of yours too." She teased, prodding him,

The 'Lizard Thing' as her parents called it, Well, it was kind of...

"What kind of advice do you mean-" She shut her mouth quickly, there she went again prying into the minds of ther people, dreadful habit really. She gave her best 'Oopsie' face and tried to look like nothing had happened.
