This did not surprise him. However he was too much caught up in his thoughts that he had not considered it.

"I see. Then there would be no problems. We need to extend the field as far as we can so it would be big enough for two. But we can manage that." Leonard replied."You do realize that this will most likely be a certain kill for your brother?I'd hate to see you quit halfway through."

Gidget vocally scoffed at his question. "I've told you before, that thing isn't my brother. We just need to make sure your little device works. Also if it doesn't I have something you may be interested in tinkering with in order to weaponize it."

Gidget reached into her purse and pulled out a small canister containing a light green vapor. "This is what I used to keep Shane pacified for all those years. It is a bio disruptor, but it is also incredibly flammable. Do you think it may be possible to make an injection dart with this? If he were to take a large enough concentrated dose, he would no longer be able to hold his body together."

Mitch's yellow eyes see the little bear. He grinned at it remembering having a bear of his own when he was a child, with normal skin. He took notes of Larry's sleep apnea and a heated rock for Heather. "Not a problem at all. So, Larry sleeps with his head elevated? Or because he doesn't sleep laying down does that mean he prefers sitting or standing as he sleeps? What would be ideal for Larry?"

Although he'd like to get to know Heather more but there were so many questions about her brother mainly because of his size.

Heather's dewlap dropped a bit in annoyance. "I told you he isn't an elephant. He sleeps reclined position. And if you can't find a large enough rock a heating blanket will do." She knew Mitch probably didn't mean for it to come out the way it sounded, but it still bothered her when her brother was compared to an animal.

It didn't take Shane long to return to the car with the cart full of supplies. He never was one to putz around in the supermarket. Even less so now that he was a wanted man (in the guise of a dead one).

As he walked back to the car, he couldn't help but feel optimistic. Thus far things had been going better than he had expected. Gidget was free, Annie and Christian were safe, and they were on their way to save his sister's soul from the machine that imprisoned it.

Shane smiled awkwardly and waved as he came back to the car. His smile became a bit more genuine when his sister returned his wave in a much more excited manner. He started with the car seat first, left a loaf of bread in the car, and placed the rest of the items in the trunk.

The trunk lid came down with a thunk and a click. It was right then that he felt it. Something was incredibly wrong. Something knew of him, and that something was scaring him. He stops for a moment and looks around to see if he can find the source of this fright.

Her blood ran cold as she realized something out there was scaring Shane. It didn't make sense, but it did. You never could be the biggest fish on the food chain- something out there was always more dangerous than you. But if whatever it was- whoever, whomever- it was could scare Shane, it couldn't be good news.

Picking up Christian, Annie asked Shane, "Do you want to leave?"

Annie had been sunk down in her seat as she waited for Shane. Seeing him come with supplies she quickly got out of the car and began to unbox the car seat and install it properly. For never having done so before she was surprisingly adept at it. That was when she felt it, the shift in auras. Two- no one- or was it two meta-human signatures. Shane looked alarmed. She turned to glance at Christian and frowned, his expression was serious. Not alarmed, but was it fear?

Her blood ran cold as she realized something out there was scaring Shane. It didn't make sense, but it did. You never could be the biggest fish on the food chain- something out there was always more dangerous than you. But if whatever it was- whoever, whomever- it was could scare Shane, it couldn't be good news.

Picking up Christian, Annie asked Shane, "Do you want to leave?"

Shane swallowed hard as he thought of an answer that could put Annie at ease. It was unfortunately an impossible feat.

"I would really like to, but I don't think I'll be able to."

Shane had never felt such a murderous sensation from any living creature he has ever come across. No, not murderous, just apathetic of the concept. Which was much worse.

Shane looked into Annie's and took her by the shoulders. His hands trembled as he said, "Drive, drive and don't look back. Get Gidget to Valhalla. Tell the machine to create a neural core interface and return my sister's soul. Force it if you have to, just make sure it happens."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out the remaining cash he had consolidated into large bills. He took her hand and placed the roll of bills in it, curling her fingers around them.

"I'll catch up."

Alexavier's eyes opened wide. A huge downright psychopathic grin appeared on his face as he started to laugh.

I've found him! He's here! WE FOUND HIM! He shouted at in his mind.

"SHAAAAAAAANE!!" He shouted out loud and his voice seemed to echo. Unleashing his powers he took control of the people in the area. Searching the minds of his followers he truly located Shane. In one moment every turned their heads in one abrupt movement. Eyes widened just like Alexavier. He did not care about their lives at all. Just pieces of meat he could use. Like a frenzied horde they ran towards Shane ignoring Annie and the rest. Shane was their only target. They screamed and shouted as the charged at him. Normal people going against a monster. Alexavier loved that thought.

At the moment he stayed inside out of Shane's reach.Crazy as he was, he would not risk coming closer. Cassandra however did. She casually walked in his direction. She was still inside of the Walmart. Her expression was unsuited for this kind of situation. It showed love..kindness, warmth. If she kept walking in his direction she would walk through the walls.

Annie quickly calculated odds in her head as Shane's shaking hands took her by the shoulders. She listened to his orders and looked down at the bills in her hand. Considering the situation, she closed her eyes. Opening her eyes again she narrowed her brown eyes at Shane, "You're not going to catch up. They- it- will kill you."

Gidget made several grunts of protest before she complied with Christian's tug. She could tell that her friends were scared, and it scared her too.

Shane almost smiled at Annie's defiance. Until he realised what he was looking at around him. Whatever this thing was that was after him, it was controlling an entire store of people. If it got a hold of Annie then Shane's death would be assured. But then again she was going to listen.

"Forgive me Annie, but I can't take a chance at it controlling you too.

Shane raised his right foot and drove it into the puddle that is Annie. He hoped that it would disrupt her long enough for him to lead the mob away. He lept to the roof of the store using a burst of biomass to propel him. He turned and looked amongst the mob to see what he was dealing with.

"I'm sorry Heather, I had no intention in making it sound that way. I ask these questions based on what other metas that are near his size do." he looked down from her accusing eyes it seemed that he had upset her. He took a dep breath and kept in mind the job he had to do then looked back up toward them, "So is there anything else you need to make your stay more comfortable?"

Her dewlap retracted as she took a deep breath to calm herself. "I can't think of anything right now. As long as nothing spooks Lawrence everything will be just fine. He doesn't spook very easily so you shouldn't have to worry about that."

"Although, I don't suppose there are any sort of experts in the area of mental impairment caused by meta transformation is there?"

Eagerly examining it Leonard thought about it.

"You...well credits for where its due. We had not been able to make this. Interesting. And you say this kept his powers under control?"

"I believe we should be able to do just that with this. Hmm yes. I will get right one that."

Gidget couldn't help but chuckle at Leornard's comment.

"Speaking on giving credit, I didn't actually manufacture that. I had help from Charles Ray's biological research and development team. My idea, their work. He made me sign a NDA to not divulge what the vapor is actually made of. But the contract never said anything about it "falling into other hands" and it being picked apart."

Gidget looked around the room again, taking note of the pictures of Theonis. She then returned her attention to the good doctor.

"Hey, I hate to harp on this, but I am just really curious. When you spoke of your son earlier there was a hint of sadness in your tone. Did something happen to him?"

Shane's move certainly put him out of 'harms' way by moving himself away from the mob. But that would not stop them. Instead they all ran at the wall in an mindless attempt to get up there. Then as if something occurred to all of them at the same time, they stopped and all looked at the door. The horde started up again as they ran inside. They intended to use the stairs from inside the building to get up to the roof. Alexavier saw the horde ran past him. He then continued to hide himself underneath the register.

The horde also ran past Cassandra. Or to be more exact ran over her. Some who bumped into her were injured as it would be equivalent to running into a wall since she did not budge. Shortly after they passed her by she walked into the wall. It stopped her but once she pushed forward the wall gave way. She walked out into the open and stared directly at Shane with her warm smile.

Shane's clothing and body shifted back to that of his own as he looked down upon the strangely haunting girl down below. There was something about that smile both comforting and terrifying at the same time. The weird vibe he felt earlier was coming from her, but somewhere else also.

Shane uses his power to seek out the living beings in the area around him. There was the hundred plus people clambering to get up there stairs to him, a few metas among them. Then there was the vermin living within the walls. But there was something else near the front of the store, not far from the girl. Something that gave off a similar vibe to her, but different somehow.

As much as this intrigued Shane, he would not risk going down into the store to confront the one that was hiding. If the mob got a hold of him, he would have no choice but to slaughter every man woman and child that was out to get him.

So he turned his attention back to the girl.

"Who are you?" He called down to her.

"Charles Ray....yes him.. Always fun to exploit those loopholes." His expression changed as she brought up Theonis.

"I do not believe that it is any of your concern. But yes, his college dorm was destroyed by one of your Meta's. Daedelus had sent troops to deal with it. But it seems this Meta...was stronger than we had anticipated. Not that I was kept in the loop. If there is even a remote chance that one of our agents is related to the suspect in any way, they will not receive the information about it. It is that simple. Someone in his class was a Meta. I found out later as I did a little digging." Leonard kept talking as if it were to let out frustration about Daedelus. "There was no way he would have been a Meta. Whenever there was a problem he talked to us about it. I..." Leonard took another drag." I don't even know why the hell I am saying all of this to you."

The girl suddenly appeared to be very shy. Another personality shift. She looked down started fiddling with her fingers.

"I...umm..my name is Cassandra Aiden. I..um...I am..currently 28..I think" She said with a soft timid voice. Taking a deep breath she calmed down a bit.
" Wou-Would you like to go out with me?"

The horde breached the lower door and were making their way up to the stairs.
