More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

Gidget suddenly found herself having a soft spot for the old man. Theonis was afraid to reveal himself because of the way his father felt about metahumans. Maybe if she could steer this in the right direction.

Gidget smiled softly and shook her head. "It's alright, I know what it means to lose something to someone so volatile. You said you did some digging, maybe I can help put together pieces of the puzzle by searching data logs regarding the incident. No doubt there was something about it in the papers or news. What can you tell me about it?"

Shane was taken aback by the way the girl behaved. She was unstable too, like him. He could feel it. This meant that he had to be careful about the way he dealt with her.

Shane took notice of the horde. He spun around and whipped a large piece of biomass at the door. The mass splat against the door and then webbed around it like a grotesque lock. He hoped that would buy him some time to find a way to talk himself out of the situation.

He returned his attention to the girl and said, "I'm Shane Morris. I'm 40 even though I don't look it. You are very pretty, and I find you quite attractive. But we hardly know anything about each other. Perhaps we can chat somewhere away from the angry mob coming to rip me apart."

Cassandra blushed "Umm..okay" She said with a cheerful smile as she looked right at him with her almost chemical green eyes."Could you come down? It's kind of hard to talk...like this."

"Um..please?"

The crowd continued to try and break through the now reinforced door. The screams and howls became stronger as they grew frustrated.

"I have already gone through ever scenario in my head. Since there were several bodies near and in his room the police implied that all the people were accounted for. That they had identified every victim. Kind of hard to do when there isn't an intact body. DNA profiling showed that my son was there. They found hair and blood. But I refuse to believe he is dead. Leonard said. He no longer thought about his hatred for Meta's or he wouldn't talk to Gidget about this.

Shane took this as a good thing. The moment she turned her back he would slit her throat and consume her. Then he would know whatever she knew about the being in the store.

Shane put on his best charming smile and hopped down from the roof to the ground, leaving cracked pavement behind where he landed. He strides toward her and asks, "Is this better, Cassandra?"

The way that she was right now....she wanted him. At that moment she did not care about anything else. This truly was her personality for the moment. A shy girl who was in love.

"Um..yes..can..can I?" Cassandra asked but she didn't wait for an answer. She just hugged him."We're the same...."

"That hair and blood could have come from the bathroom where he combed his hair and shaved. Doctor it sounds to me like they were trying to cover something up, and that it was imperative you be kept in the dark. The whole thing stinks."

She thought for a moment about what she would say next, but allowed Leonard to speak while she did so.  

[Nova Blancke]

"Yes it is. The amount of blood did indicate that he was present. But that does not mean that he died there. I simply refuse to believe that. But perhaps he really is. I just don't know." Leonard sighed and rubbed his temples.

Shane slowly returned the hug. He could feel a connection. So much of him wanted to kill her there, but something was holding him back. Something about what she said. He could consume her and take the answer, but he felt he needed to hear it come from her mouth.

"I feel it, but what does it mean?"

Gidget felt this was the right time to pressure the subject of Theonis' fears.

"You expressed some denial earlier. What would you do if you learned he was the metahuman responsible for the incident? Would it really change the fact that he is your son? That he may be scared, alone, and hunted by the very people you work for?"  

[Nova Blancke]

Cassandra snuggled him."Daedelus's pet projects. Failed and discarded projects.Hunted down for the way that we are because of what they made us. But you...you were all they talked about as they tinkered with us. You were our...prototype as they said it. Not going to make the same mistake they said. Why couldn't they just leave us alone?" Cassandra started to cry a bit.

Shane understood now. It didn't end with him, they had used pure meteor substance to create another living weapon. No, two living weapons. Except that these ones were somehow connected to each other. Siblings perhaps? Shane figured as much. For the first time in a while he felt true remorse.

He stroked her hair gently, to sooth her, as he said, "I'm so sorry. I thought they would have learned with me, but I was wrong. I killed all but one man who was responsible for my creation, but that was not enough. Had I known they would continue with the project I would have struck Daedalus much sooner than yesterday. What about the person inside, your sibling I suppose, did that person suffer the same way you did?"

Cassandra looked confused."I don't have a sibling. He is inside. I am here. We suffered from different...tests. She...I was tested much harsher. While I was just left in containment." The way she spoke was confusing at least. "It was hard on us. Being apart...being together...."

The disjointed and confused way she spoke, as though she could discern which person she was. Shane can't quite put his finger on it, but he felt the connection between the two beings went beyond the experiment itself.

"And now you are both free. Free to do whatever you'd like. What is it that you want Cassandra?"

The horde broke through the door on the roof. But upon realization that Shane was no longer there, they went back to where they came from.

"What ..we want?" She repeated the question as if she didn't understand it.

"We...I...already got what I want....right here."Her personality changed into something much more sadistic. Right after she said that her grip on Shane increased as she began to squeeze the many lives out of him with her crushing hug.
