Heather's eyes lit up at Liv's display of her light control. Larry clapped his hands in delight.
Heather squeaked, "That's so amazing! It's...beautiful." The last word was barely audible as it crept past her scaly lips.
She remembers how pretty she was before Lawrence found the meteor and brought her out to see it. She was never conceited about it, but she was proud of the looks that she inherited from her mother. She would be complimented by her family, strangers, and a good number of boys. It wasn't until just a few weeks before the incident that she understood why she was never interested in the boys. But by the time she came to terms with her feelings and embrace them it was too late. Now no one would ever compliment her, and it took someone else with an obvious mutation to even look at her without cringing.
Tears began to pool up around her eyes. Before they could collect and drop she bowed her head and muttered, "Please excuse me." The bow caused a tear to drop from each eye and spatter against the ground. Her dark hair slid past her non existent ears and draped past her eyes. She turned carefully, always mindful of her sizable tail which swept the ground as she walked, and hurriedly made her way to the nearest exit.
Larry watched his sister leave, his eyes showing great concern and love for her. He turned back to the girls, each one pretty in their own regards, and slowly began to piece together why Heather left in such a hurry. This would normally anger him, but he knew she would not want him to be angry. He opened his mouth as though to explain to them the problem, but he couldn't piece the words together in a complete sentence.
"Sister. Sad." His face said there was more to it than what he was saying, and that he was trying to get the words out.

"Oh, have you?" Annie asked, smiling, she didn't appear the least bit concerned even though she had been contemplating double crossing Alexavier and Cassandra if given the opportunity: he would have been stupid not to see that possibility, even if he didn't dive into her brain. "I'm sorry," she continued, "that probably was fairly boring for you, at least in regards to my mind. I've always been fairly transparent."
Still smiling she added, "I don't envy you on your ability. It always seems that knowing what someone is thinking is more hassle than it is worth. It is asking to find out something you don't want to know. Of course, if I could know what others were thinking I am sure I would take the advantage of the power if I had it. I just wouldn't be happy in the end."
She turned and pointed to an exit sign, "Shane, there's a couple hotels off that exit. Let's get a couple connecting rooms and get some rest. It isn't good for us to be up this long. Only Gidget's body and Christian has gotten any real amount of rest from what I can tell. You'll have to go in disguised. I can wait in the car with the rest of our crew."

"Heather wait!" Kerana reached out for her but she exited before she could reach her. Her ears lowered and her tail slowed. She looked up to Larry as he replied. "Was it something we said? Golly, I don't want her first day here to be a terrible one." determined she followed her path through the crowd.

Deora's lack of any real social skills were apparent as she just watched the others talk around her. She could only stand and slowly take in the features of the lizard girl before her. She knew she shouldn't think of her like that, but her mutations reminded her of her former stalker, the rat boy from the subdistrict. That boy had given her the impression that most people deformed by the meteor were somehow dehumanized in more ways than their appearance alone. This girl, however, was nice. Despite the texture of her skin, and the shape of her body, she seemed to be a genuinely nice person.
When Liv showed her power, and Heather took her sudden leave, Deora went after her. As sad as it was, she saw this as her excuse to leave the crowd.
"Kerana, wait up!" She said as she started to catch the fox girl. "I'll handle this, you stay here. You're better at handling groups."

Deora gave Kerana a wave before continuing out into the hallway. She breathed a sigh of relief as the door closed behind her, glad to be out of the group. The hallway was quiet, which was good for her nerves, but bad for her hopes of tracking the girl down. She was hoping to catch a glimpse of her, or hear a sound to tell where she had gone, but there was nothing. As she looked down the hallway, though, she got an idea, there was a sign on the wall showing where the bathrooms were. What better place to hide? She jogged down the hall to the sign, the swish of her jeans the only sound in the quiet hallway, and slowly opened the door.
"Heather?" She asked the seemingly empty room. "You in here?" She didn't need an answer, she spotted the girl's tail sticking out from under a stall. Deora thought about what to say to the girl as she strode over to the stall, but the first thing to slip out was; "Are you okay?"
Brilliant.
