More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

Shane returned shortly after Annie had stepped out of the bathroom. He shut the door behind him and took her in for a moment. Having just sated his hunger, he was much more himself at that moment.

"Oh wow. If I didn't know any better I'd say there's a stranger in my room."

"Oh wow. If I didn't know any better I'd say there's a stranger in my room."

Annie sat up, hearing Shane's comment, at least her headache was gone. "Good. The dye served it's purpose then," She replied, standing. Cosmetically, she wasn't sure she liked the new color or even if Shane did. Tightening the towel around herself, she turned away, a frown on her face as she wiped off the dried tears on her cheeks.

"I should get dressed," Annie said, "and try to get some sleep. Unless you have something to say about what I said earlier- about my deal with Alexavier and the situation with Gidget...." She paused, glancing over her shoulder, obviously unsure of whether she should go and change or if Shane had any use for her at the moment.

"You sure you're three years old?" Alexavier asked with a frown. This really wasn't something three year olds talk about.

Alexavier ignored the bouncing Gidget. While Cassandra joined in for a short while before putting Gidget to bed as well.

"Your mom will finish off Shane.She will."Alexavier said at a monotone. Walking up to the window he stared through it. He did not need any sleep at all. His brain was perfect. The only rest he needed was that of his body. But he could do that with sitting down and taking it easy. Cassandra was the opposite of that. Her mind could grow tired like any other person but her body was like a fusion reactor.

"When will we be whole again?" He spoke softly to his other part. Cassandra walked over and gave him a kiss. They both sounded sad. "We will...be one again. We have to." And with that Cassandra slipped into bed with Gidget.

Christian shrugged, "Do I look older than three? I turned three about a month ago. When you can sense everyone's emotions you understand things better. And both my parents were geniuses. Dad was super smart but so is Mommy, even if she doesn't seem like that. She is always weighing her options and thinking things through and she is really book smart."

Turning away as he snuggled under the covers he added, "Maybe Mom will finish him off, maybe she won't... but don't make her do something she doesn't want to do. Daddy used to manipulate her emotions: it isn't fair. If you do that and she finds out she'll be your worst nightmare. Endanger Mommy's chance at happiness and I'll make you pay, too."

"But I know her worst nightmare and will not hesitate to use it. But don't worry, I won't force her. I doubt she has the luxury to wait for two weeks before doing it. Shane is getting more dangerous by the minute. I can sense it." Alexavier said calmly.

"Good night Christian."

"Worst nightmare..." Christian muttered as he closed his eyes. Even he couldn't entirely imagine what that could be. Killing more people, maybe? But she didn't seem that concerned about killing people when push came to shove: maybe she put on a braver face than Christian thought. Maybe it was something happening to Christian?

He shook his head as he began to drift to sleep, "Don't threaten my Mom. If you are so confident she'll take care of Shane, then she'll do what you want, right? You get rid of Shane and can be happy. Why make threats?" He yawned, "It doesn't matter, not right now. Good night."

Shane walked up to Annie while her back was turned and put his arms around her waist. He lays his forehead against the back of her head and says softly. "No. I don't want to say anything at all."

Annie raised a newly dyed brow and sighed. The calculating part of her brain was trying to figure things out, he did seem more himself but really how long would that last? She closed her eyes, stiffening under his hold before she liquified and reassembled herself a few feet away standing away from him, facing him, arms crossed and completely naked as she had left the towel in his hands, it didn't adapt to her powers like Gidget's cat suit did.

"So, what do you want?" Annie asked. "I may have changed over the years but one thing remains the same: I'm a direct person, I like things spelled out. Where do we stand, Mr. Morris?"

Shane's face became sullen as his hands fell to his sides. He dropped the towel and looked to Annie with despondent, sad eyes.

"I suppose that's up to you. As much as I want things to go back the way they were before Daedalus, I know that can never happen. In fact I think things may even get worse before they get better. What I want, Annie, is to have a moment where nothing is wrong. To be in this room with you, and express my love. And as far as where we stand..."

Shane takes a few steps toward her until his chest in nearly in contact with her crossed arms. "...we are right here in front of each other. Do we just let this moment pass? I don't want it to. What about you?"

Gidget awoke with a groan a bit later. Something was causing her a great deal of discomfort. Her belly ached, and it felt as though something was trying to leak out of her. She wanted to release it, but something in her mind kept her from doing that just yet.

She rolled over and nudged Christian. She grunted and moaned trying to get his attention, holding her stomach all the while.

Shane's face became sullen as his hands fell to his sides. He dropped the towel and looked to Annie with despondent, sad eyes.

"I suppose that's up to you. As much as I want things to go back the way they were before Daedalus, I know that can never happen. In fact I think things may even get worse before they get better. What I want, Annie, is to have a moment where nothing is wrong. To be in this room with you, and express my love. And as far as where we stand..."

Annie closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Will it get better?" Annie asked. "Look, Shane I've been thinking and calculating for a while now. I've been trying to figure out how I can get everything I want and my happily ever after. It doesn't work. Say Daedalus never happened, I still had already killed someone before that point. I don't deserve to be happy."

She ran her fingers through her hair, "Do you know why I was also an art major? I could have majored in whatever I wanted, I could have gone to almost any school I wanted... I wanted to do art because I wanted to create. I wanted to make the world more beautiful. Since I got my power I've done none of that. All I do is steal- steal lives- steal other people's chances for doing something great. I am poison. Hell, my power even makes my blood poison." She began to shake some as she turned her face away to hide the tears forming in her eyes.

"You're right, though. We can't go to the way things were before Daedalus. I'm different. I'm not a love sick 17 year old. Did you know I never really got a crush on anyone until I met you? Sure I played around and made out with other people, guys and girls, but I really wasn't interested in them. The reason I fell in love with you was because of your aura. I had never met someone with such a sincere and honest aura." She turned, tears in her eyes, "But now with you comes the aura of the biomass- it is suffocating me. Is it just you and I here?" Her eyes hardened as she wiped a few tears away, "Are you honestly going to say that? Prove it if you dare to say that is the case. Prove that what you are saying is true. I'm tired of forcing my way and will with you. The ball is in your court, now, Mr. Morris."

Gidget awoke with a groan a bit later. Something was causing her a great deal of discomfort. Her belly ached, and it felt as though something was trying to leak out of her. She wanted to release it, but something in her mind kept her from doing that just yet.

She rolled over and nudged Christian. She grunted and moaned trying to get his attention, holding her stomach all the while.

Christian was dreaming about being on a beach with his mother playing in the sand- a scene he had seen in a picture book- when he felt a nudge. He heard the moaning and he rolled over, opening his eyes he saw Gidget with her usually happy face twisted in pain. He placed a little hand on her forehead, "Hey? You okay?"

Turning he called out to Alexavier and Cassandra, "Hey! You two... I- I think she's really sick!"

Cassandra cracked open an eye when Christian called out. She quickly checked on Gidget and connected the dots,

Alexavier sighed." God..she really is just a baby but with better motor-skills and less crying."

Meanwhile Cassandra took her to the bathroom as quickly as she could and helped her.

Shane took in all that Annie had said. She was right on all counts. He wasn't certain of any of it. That's when he looked over at the small mirror hanging off a door just outside the bathroom. In the reflection he saw the dark passenger in place of himself. They gave each other a knowing look, and the passenger nodded. The reflection shifted and churned until it was all Shane.

Gidget loosed her bowels and relieved herself. When she was done she felt dirty. She looked around until her eyes landed on the toilet paper. She took a "generous" amount and proceeded to clean herself until she was satisfied.

He sighed and smiled before returning his attention to Annie. At that moment there was only Shane. He wrapped his arms around Annie and leaned in,

She threw the paper into the water bowl and stood up. Her pants were still around her ankles but something else had grabbed her attention. When the new lady took her into the room, she had done something to that strange thing sticking out of the wall. Gidget's eyes lit up as she approached the think and flicked it. The lights around her turned off. She flicked it again and turned them back on. Understanding now what the thing does she started to flick it again and again. Then something tickled in her fingers and went into the thing.

Shane's lips came into contact with Annie's just as all the lights in the Hotel complex exploded all at once. There was a dazzling display of glass and sparks all around them. Shane took no notice as he was too focused on the woman in his arms. Everything around him seemed to move in slow motion at that precise moment. It was his moment then, and nothing would distract him.

Annie didn't shift or tighten as Shane made his move. She leaned into the kiss even as the lights in the Hotel complex exploded. Her fingers moved to his hoodie and she began to unzip it as she pushed him towards and onto bed. She followed him down, pausing suddenly as she glanced down at her shaking hands. Annie rolled off of him and sat on the edge of the bed, burying her face in her hands. "Shane..." She said, "I'm sorry. I really am. I thought I could do this. I can't." Glancing up she added, "Besides the electric is out. I don't think this is a normal power outage."

Christian frowned when Alexavier and Cassandra figured out Gidget's ailment. He had assumed it was something more serious. She really was simple. As he rolled over to go back to sleep he heard the small explosion of the lights in the room. Squeaking he ducked under the covers. Then he realized that it was Gidget using her power. Wasn't Alexavier and Cassandra supposed to be watching her? "Idiots..." Christian muttered, under his breath.
