More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

Trinity noticed her eyes stopped quivering her eyes glowed for a second as Gidget confirmed she was calmer now. Using her smart phone she texted Theonis, [Theonis, I'm going to need your help in the field. You up for it?]

While texting she mentioned, "I doubt there would be big trouble since this would be taking him to his main goal. Did you want to join us? I remember you mentioning you wanted to be involved if it was Shane."

Meanwhile Theonis was indulging himself in the books about genetics and specifically about Meta's. It was fascinating really. His cellphone interrupted his studies however. The interruption was forgiven as soon as he saw who it was from. Field work? Why not. He needed some action anyway.

[Anything for you babe. You picking me up or should I go to wherever you are?] He replied.

Gidget thought about it. She had said that, but then again she had said that without knowing that her body may still be alive. The idea of seeing herself caused her a great deal of unease.

She head shook as she said, "Thank you but no. I don't know if I can handle what I may see. I trust you to be able to handle this."

Trinity nodded, "I figured, I just wanted to be sure. I shall return shortly with the group in tow." She sees the text from Theonis and replied [OMW]. Trinity approached Ako held out her hand and asked "Ready to go?"

Annie glanced down at Shane's hand holding hers, "I wouldn't say I've been putting on a brave face: I think what I do is quite cowardly. My life has called for me to be confident and strong, so I make myself fill the role. And with enough confidence you can do anything- even if it is false confidence. People like confident people, if people like you, you can fit in easier."

"All I wanted was to be normal," Annie said. "Back home I was the poor motherless girl raised only by her father. I was the genius kid who skipped a couple grades and could have went to Harvard or Yale. I reinvented myself more in college: I became the girl that was talented at art and got good grades but not a genius, my grades were good because I "worked hard" not because I was a "genius". Then, the whole mess about the meteor shower. I always had been self conscious about everything about me- including my looks. I hate that scar and those burns- it reminds me of what I can never achieve- normality."

"No matter how well you can act, some things can never change," Annie said. "I never wanted an ordinary life- the white picket fence and 2.5 kids, but I did want my own sense of normal and ordinary, maybe a bit different, but ordinary enough that I could be accepted. If your anything but ordinary people start expecting too much from you: people pin more hopes on you. I don't like disappointing people so I lie about who I really am."

Shane thought for a moment. Always the analyst, he was trying to figure out a way to give Annie her normal life. At the time, though, he couldn't think if anything. He was much too enamored by the woman laying beside him spilling her guts.

"You know, I feel that given enough time people like us will be the norm. Slowly the worldwide populace is becoming more metahuman with the closing gap between meteor showers. There may come a time when the idea of metahuman will just be human."

"As for your hiding your true self, I think you are doing yourself and this world a disservice by not living up to your full potential. You said it yourself, that you were capable of more but purposely capped your progress. What if you allowed yourself to venture outside of your box? What do you think you could do? Not that you have to do anything. Don't you ever wonder what kind of potential you have?"

Shane thought for a moment. Always the analyst, he was trying to figure out a way to give Annie her normal life. At the time, though, he couldn't think if anything. He was much too enamored by the woman laying beside him spilling her guts.

"You know, I feel that given enough time people like us will be the norm. Slowly the worldwide populace is becoming more metahuman with the closing gap between meteor showers. There may come a time when the idea of metahuman will just be human."

"As for your hiding your true self, I think you are doing yourself and this world a disservice by not living up to your full potential. You said it yourself, that you were capable of more but purposely capped your progress. What if you allowed yourself to venture outside of your box? What do you think you could do? Not that you have to do anything. Don't you ever wonder what kind of potential you have?"

"The irony is even if metahumans became the norm, I still am extraordinary at that too. My range is practically unheard of," Annie replied with a bitter smile. "The only type two who probably outshines my power's abilities is Christian."

"And, I have ventured out of the box, people encourage thinking 'outside the box', but they don't like when you think outside the warehouse," Annie replied. "And I figured out most people, especially guys, really don't care how independent or intelligent you are if you just shut-up and cave to their wishes and play the game by their rules. The only thing that I wanted was to be accepted, and I didn't care if I had to give up 'myself' and 'my potential' to achieve that."

Annie glanced up and met Shane's eyes, "I had always pegged you as someone who could accept me without me trying, even though, I still put effort in only showing you my best side for a long time." Snuggling into him more she said, "I was right. Of course, that is hardly surprising, I am rarely wrong about people."

Shane chuckled, "Heh, well...I'm happy that I was able to live up to your assessment. I want you to try something for me. From now on, don't hide yourself. If you're never going to be normal again, then f**k it. Take life by the balls. If life hands you lemon's don't make lemonade. Demand to see life's manager."

"I'm really not very good at this whole pillow talk thing am I?"

"I didn't chose you because of your skills with the ladies," Annie replied. "Besides, I think I was the one who failed in the first place. I suppose what I should say is "wow, that was- you were really amazing", "I thought I could never feel that good", something like that."

"Anyhow, the problem isn't that I was never going to be normal, again," Annie answered, "it was more of the fact that I was never 'normal' to begin with. And I like lemons, not lemonade as it is too sweet, but I do like lemons. I never saw getting lemons as that bad of a thing. And, while it is a nice sentiment to not hide myself, I'm not always going to have you by my side accepting me for me. I am going to try to move on, someday, when that time comes the easiest way to achieve acceptance is to do what I have been doing. Maybe I will quit hiding though, after all you have done and we have been through, the least I can do is fulfill one of your requests."

She smiled and leaned over him some and said in a teasing voice, "So, since it is pretty obvious we both fail at this whole 'pillow talk thing', should we do something else?"

Kerana

"Let me see, there's video games, the gym, the pool, movies... and uh...? Well just about anything you can think of. What would you like to play Larry?" Kerana was glad he was happy.

Larry's eyes got real big with curiosity and the potential for great fun. It had been forever since he had been in a swimming pool.

"Pool!"

He leans in real close toward Kerana. He had to be sure it was the same sort of pool he remembered.

"Swim?"

Shane smirked and raised an eyebrow. "Well that all depends. Is there anything I could do for you? What sort of things do you 'enjoy'."

"You should know I have quite a few interests," Annie said, "and I am remarkably flexible about them, among other things." She leaned in and kissed him, not pulling away, but instead changing into liquid she reformed standing by the bed, arms crossed, eyebrow raised.

"Unless you have something in particular in mind, I'm going to get dressed," Annie said with a smile and joked. "Of course I won't if you have objections to that. I can be accommodating."

Shane sat up and was about to reply when a wave of exhaustion suddenly hit him. It then occurred to him that he hadn't slept since they had spent the night in that motel with the white haired sisters.

He holds a hand to his head and groans. "As much as I would love to object, I think I need to sleep. I'm...not feeling so well."

Annie nodded: him needing sleep made sense. She was tired herself and she had gotten some sleep on the road, not a lot but some. Leaning down she kissed him on the forehead and whispered, "Sleep well. I will be back in a minute."

She walked to the bathroom and slipped on the undergarments and she picked up the shirt and pants. In all actuality, she should put on the catsuit for modesty sake, as if she had to shift the normal clothes wouldn't change with her, but the catsuit had blood on it and she wanted fresh clothes. Sighing she laid the rest of the clothes down and decided against bothering to change into anything else besides the undergarments. She had considered checking up on Christian and Alexavier and Cassandra and Gidget's body but decided not to. They should manage themselves fairly well.

At that she headed back to bed and slipped in beside Shane. Closing her eyes she muttered to herself more than anyone else, "I might be able to sleep well, tonight."
