it's good that things are working out with stacy. I hope it doesn't get worse again.

It's been ages since I've had anything to say here, but I openly admit I have problem with trying to lose weight. 90kg and 170cm doesn't make a good mix. For most of last year I tried taking diet pills which lost me four kilos but I got tired of the strict diet it prescribed and soon I regained all the weight. Worse, the month-long trip to China in June-July caused me to gain even more weight as I became enticed with Chinese food. Now, it's been three weeks since I started to exensively exercise, with regular 30-minute runs in the morning and hour-long sessions in the gym two days a week. Despite this, I haven't lost much weight; the energy I expend exercising is quickly replaced by the food I weight.

What suggestions do you girls have for me to lose more weight that doesn't involve a really strict diet (I've tried it and it didn't work for me) or some other fad?

i advise you stop thinking about it too much and relax a little. you know stress can make it harder for you to lose weight... at least in woment it does. And I think you should prolly just eat fresh foods instead of things that require you to microwave and loaded with fat. Eat breakfast in morning, wake up earlier to take a jog, should increase metabolism and make you feel better more energetic. In other words, do things that would obviously make you feel better and eat things that are obviously good for you while avoiding things are obviously not so good. does that make any sense at all because it did when i was thinking it. rofl

You can try eating more fruit like pomelo's and grapefruit~
Any sour-ish fruit can help lose weight.
Eat 3 meals a day..? Breakfast being the biggest meal of the day.

And only drink water and chinese tea from now on~
They also help.
Don't try drinking Juices...if you can't help it, drink light ones like once a week? >.<

Maybe you could try exercising like this..?
Monday - 1 hour exercise
Tuesday - 30 mins exercise
Wednesday - 1 hour exercise
Thursday - 30 mins exercise
Friday - 1 hour exercise
Saturday - 30 mins exercise
Sunday - 1 hour exercise

And once you finsihed eating a meal don't sit, walk or do something active for at least 20 mins~

And always be in a positive mood. Don't get depressed!
If you feel like giving up, don't. Go watch some documentary videos about the amount of fat that obese people have...that would make you not give up~!

Ugh...sourish fruit, I can't stand them. sweatdrop I have tried to eat more fruit, but the problem is, I'm too lazy to eat fruit that require peeling or cutting; thus I rarely eat fruit like apples and oranges on the run.

Exercising is one thing I can steadily increase without worry, though I've tried to gradually increase the load so that my body can cope with the strain of it and not give out on me after one intense sessions. However, I can't get used the routine of eating the most at breakfast time. Usually I don't have time in the morning to eat a large and lavish breakfast. Lunch is generally my biggest meal of the day, and I can't help but eat a lot at lunchtimes. If I don't eat big at lunch time I usually end up getting extremely tired by four or five in the afternoon; unlike westerners, I don't have midmorning or midafternoon tea, or supper.

It's not like I'm going to give up; I've got plenty of motivation to continue. What is hard is trying to change a lot of the habits that have been so ingrained into my consciousness that they've become instinctive.

just eat healthy... u got to have some disciplinary.. u still can have ur three meals but here's my tips:

- cut down on your canned sodas..
- cut down on saturated fat and worst, trans fat.. coz those fats are harder to breakdown and very hard to burn away.. it's bad for your heart too.

- a little bit of fat is good, like your fish oil, etc. it serves as a transporter to fat soluble vitamins. if u really really really need to eat fried food.. choose a good oil...

- and it doesnt mean that fat free food are definitely good.. although they are fat free, they usually contain sugar.. and un-utilised sugar can store into the body as fat.. :3

- cut down on frozen food and snacks. *nods*

- try not to eat anything after dinner.. if u are really tempted to eat.. take a fruit. XD

- the way the food is prepared is important too. perhaps you can go for grilled, steamed, etc rather than always fried...

- if you do eat something fried for like lunch.. perhaps dinner time you would like to eat just a caesar salad or whatever salad that's filling and yummy in ur opinion.

- of coz try to avoid fried stuff..

- personally, a lot of pple tried the protein diet. but it's really bad for the body as the body prefers carbohydrates to form energy so that protein is utilized more for other purposes

- however protein (such as your meat) should be taken moderately... do you know that a healthy adult should eat 1 gram of complete protein daily for each kilogram of weight? so if u weigh 70kg.. u should eat 70grams of complete protein daily. XD

fat cells do not disappear save a liposuction. They shrink as you use up more energy and expand when you gain more energy than you need. Therefore regular exercise would make you "lose" weight, but if you ever stop you'll gain it back. Best solution is to first find out what your daily calorie usage is and plan your diet accordingly. Without excess energy you should at least stop gaining unwanted weight. Then try to work from there. DO NOT starve yourself because it makes things worse. 3nodding

anyways mini i forgot to tell you, if you count calories it'll just make you go nuts. Plus a diet is a way of life. If you ever stop it and go back to the way you were you're going to gain all your weight back and then some, so beware, if you want to lose weight and keep it off, find a permanent diet in which you don't mind having for are reeeallly long time cool

Um, well, I sort of have a diet I'm comfortable with at the moment. I'm not gaining any extra weight (In fact, I've lost 2 kgs since I started), but then again, it's not like I'm losing weight rapidly. Then again, perhaps gradually losing weight and/or stablizing at a certain weight is better than losing a lot of weight in one go, only to gain it again because I couldn't keep up the diet.

Cat: Apart from the times when I'm in a gym, I don't think I'll be able to count exactly how many calories I expend every day, let alone the total amount of calories I take in.

@mini: the diet you have now sounds healthy, you should stick with it. people who lose weight rapidly tend to gain it back (that's how fad diets works you lose weight rapidly then get it back.)

@berry: stare exactly what kind of work are you doing?

@'elfy - Like yalie says, don't think about it too much, because that will just make you feel bad. You have to just be confident. And I think having more motivation to do things will help - as in, if you want to lose weight, you have to be NOT too lazy to eat peeled fruits etc because that can-be-bothered enthusiastic feeling makes you feel better about yourself and then the weight loss (or any other aim that you want to achieve) comes naturally. 3nodding

Other things to try: lots of exercise is good, but not at the wrong time. You should exercise on a half-full stomach (eg mid-morning or mid-afternoon) because if you're hungry you will just die but if you're really full you will only burn the energy from the food that you just ate. Always leave a few hours between exercise and food. Um... have a balanced diet, don't try and like starve yourself from anything but have a little of everything. Chinese food can be very healthy --- just cook it with less oil and more fresh vegetables. Salad equals love. Other than that.. can't really think of anything. P; Just control yourself. It's as much a mental as a physical thing. (:
