Ooh! *is very excited* Hello! Well, I'm Yelitza (real name), on the web I use "tiranaki" which is the name of the main character of my series. I live in Puerto Rico, which is a small island in the Caribbean, for those that don't know, and my first language is Spanish. I'm 20 years old, and I have a twin sister. We're both studying art, except I'm studying to obtain my BFA in Graphic Arts, and she's studying for her BFA in Painting, we go to the same University, but different campuses. I'm in my third, and hopefully, final year of University, and well, since it's Graphic Arts, I know more about the technical side, you know, all about the printing methods, printing press, how to run my own printing company, how to create designs that are efficient for print, basically, everything about print and printing. The curriculum is more focused on printing as out output method than web, so all I know about web design I learned on my own. Still, I very much like my University, because unlike most Universities that give an Associate's Degree, I will be obtaining a full Bachelor's Degree in the same time it takes most people to get the Associate's. Sorry if I sound like I'm boasting, it's just it's been drilled into our heads to realize that unlike most graphic designers here (here, in Puerto Rico, I dunno about the rest of the world) not only can we work in pre-press, we can also run the press and see our work carried out in full.

Anyways, nobody probably even read all that so... I mainly work with Adobe, since that's what I know, Photoshop and Illustrator... Photoshop for graphics and artwork, and Illustrator... for the same thing really. My hobby is web design, and I love making layouts for people to use free of charge, however, I'm not so good with the programming part. My other hobby is cartoon dollz, I've been doing them for several years, totally addicted.

So, anyway, if anyone is interested, links to my various galleries are on my sig, as well as my shop here in Gaia. It's two other artists and me, and we offer everything from custom artwork to avatar edits to wishlists to banners to image map sigs to anything else we can come up with. Our newest thing is custom image maps for people to use in their sigs. I also offer free hosting on my domains, but that's separate from Gaia.

Thanks so much Chisa for inviting me! I hope to meet wonderful artists and hopefully make a few new friends.

Hello there. I'm Patti. Thanks for inviting me to join this guild. I am a rubberstamp designer. Yes, I design rubberstamps for my husband's and my artistic rubberstamp company. I had two years of graphic design in college and have always loved arts and crafts. I want to learn more about computer art but find it somewhat difficult drawing with a mouse. For my rubber stamp designs I hand draw them, scan them into the computer and then redraw them with bezier curves using Corel Draw. They are all black and white line drawing though, so I don't get much opportunity to play with color. I also like to play The Sims and create faces for them. I made a web site for my creations here. http://www.angelfire.com/art2/pattisplace/

Hello, I just joined the guild right now, second guild I've been invited to join and a total of three guilds I'm a member of, I have my own guild as you can see in my sig. Anyway, I'm currently 19 as you can see in my profile and I'm studying graphic design at my community college.

Once I get my AA I'm joining the Air Force for about two years, after that I'm going to transfer to a full College and hopefully get a Masters, we'll just see how it all works out. I've been into art ever since I was a little kid, I would draw a lot but I always sucked at it, still do.

I got into graphic arts really when we got our first computer and I started to play around with paint, eventually we got Adobe Photoshop and I worked with that for a while, pretty much knew just about everything, but then I took a ROP class at my High School and learned a lot more stuff and improved, then I took another Photoshop class at my community college, it was required and easy.

I'm hoping to learn Corel Painter next, I tried to take the class a few semesters ago but it got canceled because not enough people were joining the class, it happened three times so far. I currently still use Photoshop since it's the only program I have really, and also it's the only one that helps since the other applications I learned were Adobe PageMaker and Adobe After Effects. Well, that's all, and it's a lot so I'm gonna wander around now.

Hello, everyone! I guess I'll just give my graphic design background information.

I first went to a community college and studied graphic design there. When I graduated with all the technical know-how to print and do web, I went to a university to learn the theory behind it all. I'm now in my senior year in my graphic design program. My program is extremely tedious and difficult (I'm not sure if all of them are like this) -- I get maybe three hours of sleep a night when the term is in full swing, usually the last two months of the semester. The teachings at my school are basically the traditional Swiss graphic design (see the Bauhaus), very structured and rigid.

I've been working in graphic design for about 5 years now (got the job before I started at the university). I do mainly print (anything from books to brochures to banners to posters, etc.), but I also know HTML, a tiny bit of javascript, and enough Flash to make something really ugly. So, I don't really do web design except as a hobby.

I use Quark (at work), InDesign (at school), Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver (as hobby). I'd love to share some of the stuff I've done in school. Maybe I'll actually get around to making an online portfolio one day.

I am so amazed and thrilled at all of the interesting, diverse people we have here. I just now realized (sorry, I've been out of it) that we have 35 people in our guild now. That's so great!! Thank you all so much for joining, and contributing so much. It's made my life so wonderful and fun to have all you Graphic Designer types here in one place where I can go and be inspired. *gush* redface

Hehe. xd

[huggles Silver Vixen] ^^

Hi everyone, I'm Aivi (like 'ivy')! I'm not learned in/learning graphic design, but I'm interested in it. I love planning layouts for imaginary sites and Gaian mini-shops, and I'd like to be better at it... that's why I'm here, right? ^^ I've taken a few studio art classes in high school, nothing big, nothing much. I'll be a first-year university student starting next month.

I primarily work with pencil, Corel Photopaint 9.0, and my favorite... MS Paint. xd

Thanks for inviting me here! heart

Hello, everyone. I'm Corinn. My IRL name is Cassie, but I like my online name better. stare I'm 20, and attending my third college. (Baaaad experiences at the other two involving "lost" paperwork. Don't ask. Also, NEVER GO TO BROOKS COLLEGE IN LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA. THEY WILL SUCK YOU DRY THEN KICK YOU TO THE CURB! scream domokun )

*ahem*

Anyway, I love manga and anime, and started teaching myself basic HTML when I got bored at my first college, while trying to major in English. I fell in love with the design aspect, and always have been an artist of sorts, so I took to it wholeheartedly. I am taking classes to slowly learn how to use my Adobe Creative Suite Premium and Studio MX programs.

I'll post a thread on how to get them cheap AND legitimate. wink heart

I'm unemployed and cry out for work and money. (Moneeeeyyyy~~~!) My parents are divorcing after a 21-year marriage, so I'm living with my mom and brother and trying to keep things emotionally stable at home. School starts in a week or so... perhaps then I'll start posting more work on my devART portfolio.

My deviantART account is http://cor-chan.deviantart.com , if you're interested. My first-ever photo restoration is there. That field also fascinates me.

I still am not totally sure which particular field within Graphic Design / Multimedia I would like to go into... But I do know I'll choose one I like.

Ah, one thing: I'm a very good geometrical/spacial thinker; if you're drawing something and need help for how it doesn't look quiiiite right or the shading is a bit off and want advice, feel free to ask. wink heart
