Ruth walked along in a solemn and tranquil mood. She occansionally glanced at the passing of the students. Never thinking of entering in their private converstaions, and their private world that she would forever be excluded from. She sighed and crused herself, why did she have to be so shy, she was a watcher an observer, she watched other people's lives go by. She only felt pleasure when other's felt pleasure, she only felt pain when other's did. She depended on the emotions of other's so that she might feel her own. But she was sick of that dependency she wanted to live her life, and meet new people. That is why she came here, to Ria High to make a new life for herself and so she would. She plumped herself, by the big tree in the middle. She rumaged in her bag, serching for her escape. She brought out her book and began to engross herself once more in the lives of fictional people.

Hikaru's expression immediately brightened up to her usual broad smile upon hearing Yuki's reassurance. She folded her arms behind her head, leaning backward and stretching a little. "Well, that's good to hear, then!" she said happily, patting her friend on the shoulder. Turning to Yuri, she smiled at him as well. "Sorry 'bout that!" she declared quite casually. "Gotta look out for your friends, y'know?" Extending a hand for him to shake, she nodded. "Anyway, my name's Hikaru! Are you a friend of Yuki's? We should be friends too, then!" She grinned, all smiles as her mood seemed to have completely turned around from the semi-serious atmosphere she was giving off a few moments ago, her hyperactive nature shining through as it always did.

Yuri kept his brow raised as she offered him her hand and he reached out to grab it, for that was the polite thing to do, and when he touched it though he immediately grew hesitant and pulled it back for a moment. He wore a look of unsurity as he epeated the action, this timepulling back again but not as far and grabbing her hand completely the tird time. He gently shook it still with the same look of unsurity as he answered her question. "I haven't been for very long...but I suppose we decided...on that conclusion the first time-we spoke..." his voice did not tremble but he hesitated every five or six owords and finished the last two words kind of quickly. He was not used to peoplechanging moods towards him so quickly, and definitely not used to people being as cheery as she was being as they first spoke. For a reason he didn't know himself he couldn't decide whether or not to trust her...For now he would keep that to himself, but if later on he found a reason to not trust her completely then he wouldn't keep to himself about it. He dropped his brow after they'd first begun shaking hands, but the look in his eyes still showed the same confusion...

Yuki smiled, sucessfully forcing herself not to flinch as Hikaru patted her shoulder. Instead she just silently watched as she spoke, seemingly back to normal, and extended her hand to Yuri. She herself let her legs go and reposition themselves in front of her, resting on the ground a she remained sitting upon the ledge of the fountain. Her tail was still flicking behind her now that she was trying to calm herself down. She really was still thinking to herself though, of why she wasn't able to look people in the eye without freaking out first.

She looked at Yuri curiously though, blinking as she saw his reluctance to take her hand in greeting. Her head tilted slightly as she watched, a bit of confusion overtaking the fear that was in her eyes a second before. The sadness remained, as always, but she hoped no one would notice. She glanced back at Hikaru again, smiling faintly still. "H-how have you been?" she asked uncertainly, a bit thrown of by Yuki's actions.

"What's wrong? It's just a hand!" Hikaru said, winking playfully at Yuri. "I'm not really gonna beat you up, y'know. Relax!" She threw her arms out wide in a gesture of good will and friendship, nodding as she continued smiling. "Any friend of Yuki's is a friend of mine, after all." Nodding again as if to punctuate this statement, she looked over to Yuki next.

"I've been pretty good!" she annnounced happily, spinning in place once and sitting down to rest on the fountain next to Yuki, kicking her legs out in front of her. "Been doing a lot of training lately. I've been kinda itching for a chance to try it out and see what I'm really capable of," she said, bouncing in place a little as she spoke. "I guess lazy summer days aren't too bad either, though." She laughed at this, stretching one arm out above her head and leaning back.

"So, how about you...?" she asked. "Haven't seen you or Hiro around here in quite a while!" Looking around for a moment, she turned back to Yuki. "Where is Hiro, anyway? I always saw you together when I first came here. How's he doing? We never did get to play that soccer game!"

((It is totally messing me up that one of your characters is named Yuri, the other is Yuki, and Hikaru's last name is Yuki. rofl ))

Bordem consumed Jack and he began to daze off while habitualy spining a pebble around his hand. The clouds that he was watching offered no real entertainment. Besides the clouds all began to look like sheep after awhile, all poofy and white. This brought him into a delicte haze, the pebble fell from his hand, and quickly, he fell asleep.
A deep snotring growling noise eruped from him soon after. This wasent just a normal snore it was gut wrenching megaphone snore. It shook the leaves overhead, and certainly disturbed some wildlife, that began to run away fearing certain death.

Yuki nodded her head. "Well, th-that's good," she smiled gently, and then looked back at the grass. As the question was redirected, she shrugged her shoulders slightly. "I did a l-little bit of training as well..." she began slowly as her head tilted slightly to one side. She stopped for a second though, at the mention of Hiro and seemed to be thinking to herself.

She frowned very faintly and then bowed her head slightly. "I-I actually haven't seen him in a while..." she said softly, glancing back at Hikaru for a second. "But I smell him i-in the other courtyard. He's with someone though s-so I don't want to interrupt an-anything." In truth she did miss him, but she didn't want to bother him if he'd found someone else to hang out with for a while.

Maybe he'd grown tired of her clinging to him so fearfully all the time. Though, he'd never given any sign of that being the case... The thought he had been injured didn't even occur to her, not crossing her mind even for an instant. So, she didn't let herself worry. She did, however, glance uncertainly over towards a male who began snoring extremely loud.

[That is very strange. xD;;]

"Yeah?" Hikaru asked, leaning in a little closer as Yuki mentioned her own training. "What kinda powers do you have, anyway, Yuki?" she asked, scratching her head. "I don't think I ever asked about that before... Maybe we could train together sometime! It's always more fun with friends, right?" She grinned at the thought of this. Alex hadn't been around for quite a while, so she didn't really have anyone to spar with. Judo gets kind of boring when all you're doing is tossing combat robots into walls.

She nodded at the mention of Hiro. "Well, that's good," she said, smiling. "He didn't seem like the type to make a lot of friends when I first met him, so it's good that he's meeting new people." She hopped off the fountain, standing in front of Yuki. "After all, what fun is life if you don't have anyone to share the good times with!"

Ignoring most of what went on after the hand shake he picked up his scythe and began leaning on it again. "You couldn't have beat me up anyway..." he mumbled this really lowly as their conversation went on. He watched their conversation for a few moments longer before saying anything else, the next thing he commented on was what Hikaru said about wht fun life was. "It's not very fun at all..." he spoke louder then he had when shaking her hand but if the conversation continued at the same pace it was going he was sure they would end up missing what he said anyway. Hearing the way that the both of them talked about this Hiro made him become interested in finding out who he was and after a few moments he realized that Hiroshi was the name that he had remembered from when he had listened to her thoghts instead of her words during he and Yuki's last conversation. That wa probably who they were talking about but there were other words that could come from Hiro...his last name was Hiroshika after all. The speed of this conversation was beginning to make him lose track of what was going on...he was thinking and they were talking and even his thoughts dd not match their speed...

[Yuki, Yuri, Last name Yuki...and last name Hiroshika...>.> what a HUGE coincidence huh?]

Yuki blinked a couple times as Hikaru leaned closer but then smiled again and turned, scooping a bit of water into her hand. She held it in front of herself and a second later it'd frozen over into ice. "I-I can make it on my own, b-but it's easier to do it the water's already there." She held the ice in her bare hand, as if the temperature didn't bother her at all, which, it really didn't. She was an ice demon, after all. Well, half of her was. "Maybe s-sometime...." she said softly, in response to the training comment. She didn't really like training though, or fighting in general, so she didn't sound very enthusiastic.

She turned the ice absently over in her hand as she nodded to the girl's next comment. "Yes, I-I guess you're right," she said with another tiny smile. She'd met more people than expected already and despite awkward moments like the one just experienced with Yuri, she was actually pretty happy about it. Maybe one of them would be able to bring her out of her shell a little better. That was her hope, at least.

She looked suddenly towards Yuri as he spoke up again, her head tilting once more. "L-life may not always be fun..." she said softly. "So you have to make the b-best of it on your own."

[Ah, I didn't realize about your last name to! o.o]

"Life is anything but fun." he said this stubbornly as soon as he was sure Yuki was finished with what she was saying and sighed. He said it bluntly though, as if it were a fact that he was just stating, not even staing in arguement though, just stating. For his whole life there had been little time spent enjoying it...and every time he started to something bad always happened which ended it's enjoyability. Recently he found that he actually ended up enjoying life a lot less as the days went on...and when he took lives, whether by obligation or because he was the one who killed the person, it seemed to make him feel better then when he was not taking lives. Maybe it was because it made him feel like his life had meaning, but then maybe it was because he was really evil at heart...either way it was still bad. He didn't let anyone know about it but he didn't hide it as it happened either...right now he did not let on about that but he id eave her with that cliffhanger comment as he bgan thinking to himself again.

Hikaru missed Yuri's comment about her not being able to beat him up, which was just as well, because she probably would have tried to do it if she had managed to catch that particular remark. She hated people who lived their lives wrapped up inside their own egos, and always made sure to put braggarts in their place.

"Pfft... life is plenty of fun!" she said, looking over at Yuri. "You just have to know how to enjoy yourself!" She smiled at Yuki's ice, plucking it out of her hand to look at it a little more closely. "People who do nothing but sit around and brood and complain about how much their lives suck... I never understood those kind of people," she said, dashing the ice against the ground and shattering it. "People who just sit back and accept life as depressing and bad without trying to do anything to change it are just using that as an excuse to cover up their own weakness." Smiling at Yuki's comment about making the best of things, she nodded. "See? Yuki's got the right idea."

Yuki frowned at Yuri, but wasn't eager to start an conversation about it, much less an arguement. She tended to avoid those as best she could, because they meant she'd have to talk a lot to get her point across, and that was not something she particularly enjoyed. She did believe though, that you could always always to find a way to turn most any situtation into a positive one, or find the good in one.

Maybe Yuri was thinking that way because of the demon he'd mentioned earlier. The one that could supposedly cause so much chaos in such a short amount of time. The thought made her frown as she wondered if he'd done something that caused him to stop believing life was enjoyable, though she wasn't about to pry and ask about it.

She looked over as Hikaru spoke, glad that she was here because Yuki would have ended up leaving his comment unopposed. She listened to the girl's words and then nodded her head to signal she agreed with her. She also watched as her ice was shattered, but instead of growing angry or upset, she simply smiled and watched as the broken pieces rolled back together and reformed itself back to its original form. Then her eyes shifted back to Yuri. She assumed he'd continue the arguement.

"What weakness? I see exactly what your saying but-" he stopped himself for a couple moments. He was about to say something that he definitely did not want to so he changed his sentence completely from half way through it. "-but...life doesn't work like that for everyone...It all depends on who you are. Some people have secrets that make their lives the way they are...secrets that always make people turn away from them. And sometimes life just doesn't work out the way you have it planned..." He stopped for a moment to make sure he'd said everything he'd been trying to and then feeling content he looked from the ground up at Hikaru. What he'd kept himself from doing was comparing it to death...in death you have complete control. It becomes your choice...you become the one in control of how this persons life will continue...either it ends by your hand or goes on with the added shame of having been pitied by you as they did so. Death was something extremely familiar to him though, so naturally he'd be able to come to terms with more things dealing with death then with life. He tried to think of a way to change the subject but the comparison he made in his mind between personal will's effect on life opposed to it';s effect on death kept him from doing that hiself.

[sorry for taking so long...]

Yuki found she was right and watched Yuri's shoulder as he spoke, at the same time hoping he wouldn't notice she wasn't looking at his face again. But she blinked at his pause, her eyes flicking to his neck and then to his chest as she heard him continuing on. She couldn't help wondering what he'd been about to say, but didn't let herself linger upon it too much. Instead she tried to focus on what he'd last said.

Life never works how you plan, she thought to herself, watching the ground now. You just have to take what it gives you one step at a time. It's full of twists and turns and you can't control it. I didn't plan for Hiro to wander into my home, and I didn't plan to get picked on for helping him. It just happened that way. But I haven't become depressed about it, even if it somewhat seems like I am, and I've continued on with life and I actually am trying to enjoy it. I really like spending time with Hiro, even if I was hurt because of him. I don't mind... And everyone had secrets too, that they don't want people to know about. Some people's are worse than others, or more serious, but that doesn't mean they can't enjoy life either. They may just have to work a bit harder to stay positive, but they can still do it. They just have to try and not flat out refuse like you're doing. It's hard for me sometimes as well, but I don't allow myself to get down for long.

She finished her mental rant and let out a sigh, biting her lip. She knew she'd never be able to say that out loud without stammering so much her meaning would be lost. She found if she tried to explain something that took a lot of speaking on her part, people were so distracted by her stammering that they entirely missed her point. So she kept her words to herself instead as she waited to see what Hikaru would say in response.
