I still have to read an essay and a few poems for today's class... hopefully it won't take too long to read those.

*grabs book to read the essay and poems* Might as well get it over with, and get thinking about what I'll say in the CR we're writing in class. 3nodding

*chuckles* That part's funny!
"Hey," she asked. "You two are Indian, right?" "Full-blood," Victor said. "Not me," Thomas said. "I'm half magician on my mother's side and half clown on my father's."

I like this part:
"Thomas closed his eyes and this story came to him: 'We are all given one thing by which our lives are measured, one determination. Mine are the stories which can change or not change the world. It doesn't matter which as long as I continue to tell the stories."

*reads #2 of Sherman Alexie's poem "13/16"*
I always wanted to figure out my percentage, fraction of my ancestry. My numbers are probably so small that it doesn't amount to much... but still...

Alexie's poem "How To Write The Great American Indian Novel" is pretty interesting to read. Especially when how strangely accurate a lot of the statements end up being... at least from the other American Indian literature we've read in the class.

It's a good thing I remember a lot of my ancestors names to make sure I have the right people. 3nodding
