More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

Deora laughed, a bit embarrassed by the attention her wave had gotten her. "Sorry. I didn't expect it to be that big." She said as she bobbed in the deep end of the pool. She had only expected the wave to maybe reach their shoulders, not crest over top of them. Maybe being in the water was helping her powers, or maybe it was just the practice she'd finally been able to get. She looked forward to learning how to do more, but for now Kerana was right, it was about time to get out of the water.

"Correction, let's focus on stopping what Shane has become," Annie corrected Theonis, ignoring his comment about bad things happening to good people, she wasn't sure she believed that entirely. "Frankly, I'm not that concerned about surviving. I don't have anything I'm that interested to live for besides revenge which isn't much of a happy prospect. But I'll tell you what, if I survive I'll draw caricatures of all the happy couples still alive. It'll be fun and they'll be really good. I was an art major, you know."

Her nerves were frayed, she was in a bad mood, and as a result she was bitterly sarcastic- you could call it her defense mechanism. She always had the habit: it got severely worse while she was in Daedalus's care.

"I find it may be better to to think of it as something or someone I never knew. It's better disconnect yourself that way... so that when the time comes to kill you don't have any hesitations of who it once was." Stoically spoken from one with lots experiece on the job.

She couldn't help but shake her head as she went on from revenge to drawing happy couple caricatures. If was a sense of humor she didn't think it was funny at all. She wasn't sure if she could keep it together long enough to complete the mission. "Listen to me Annie, the only way you,Gidget, Ako and Theonis are getting out of this is that you all have the same goal. To destroy that thing outside and survive. If you won't try to survive for yourself... do it for Gidget do it for the memory of Shane, he wouldn't want you to simply give up, would he?"

She narrowed her eyes at Trinity and muttered, "That's dirty, bringing Shane into this. What our relationship was is really none of your business. But, I'll humor you. I made a promise to him not to lie- so I am not going to pretend that the biomass wasn't Shane also, the biomass could somehow share a familiar aura that Shane had which I have to be prepared for. However, I also, will tell you this: I spent thirteen years locked up by Daedalus, which I willingly gave myself up to, to protect people from my power. There they experimented on me constantly and others. I had to have a kid who I should love because he is mine, but I have trouble loving sometimes because I have him thanks to Daedalus and he reminds me of his father the scientist responsible for my case at the end of my time at Daedalus. The only man I really loved, gets turned into a monster partially because of my actions and because of Daedalus who did all those horrible things to me already. Oh, and I've gotten to the point I've lost count on how many people I've killed and even caring much about it."

She took a deep breath. "My goal isn't to die in this mission. It is to take care of the problem which may kill every good thing left in me to do and keep as many of the rest of you alive. My own life I really don't care about one way or another. Honestly, I probably am in love with the idea of dying, but morally I'm not going to purposely try to get myself killed. That is the best I can promise you guys, right now, and that is the truth. Let's get going. The sooner this is over the better, probably."

"Well, at least that's something we all can agree on.... and on top of that don't go around thinking you're the only one with countless blood stains on your hands.

Although I still care about protecting lives, that's not to say that I had to make hard decisions costing innocent people's lives in the process. I'm not perfect and neither are you, don't be so hard on yourself. Right or wrong, you did what you had to do."

Trinity started leading the way back to Gidget and Ako. She couldn't help but wonder, How could Gidget be friends with someone like that... she gets under your skin way too easily...

Annie sighed and followed Trinity, the truth was some of the deaths, or at least Dr. Berchant's death, wasn't something she had to do. Of course, that one was sort of his fault. She pinched the bridge of her nose and took a calming breath: her head hurt, again. Maybe if you stopped thinking so much your head wouldn't hurt so bad, She rebuked herself with a long sigh getting the feeling that Trinity didn't care for her that much. Good, she added in spite, It isn't like I'm here to make friends. And in the end when I leave to take on Daedalus, I won't have to worry about them trying to stop me.

Shane stopped for a moment and thought. After a few seconds he finally spoke again.

"That depends on whether it is a dream, or a memory. A dream can be surreal, or even completely absurd. Whereas a memory would feel nominal, and even familiar. A dream would be easier to ferret out than a memory."

One of the ER techs rapped on the privacy wall. "Ms. Gidget, there is an older man outside who says he has a delivery for you."

Gidget tensed up slightly, not wanting to leave this moment. If she still had a phone in her head, she probably would have become more unsettled by Trinity's message. As it was, though, she knew what had to be done.

"It's time, Ako."

Heather was starting to feel cold. It was definitely time to leave.

"That'd be wonderful Kerana, thank you."

As she and her brother climbed out of the pool, something in her animal instincts tipped her off. A feeling of unease and tension. Feeling that Kerana would be one of the few people here who could get this, she approaches the young fox girl.

"Ummmm, Kay...is it just me, or are we being watched?

"I see." Alexander replied as they strolled along.

"You see, I have a twin sister. She is currently in that state. Trapped inside a dream or memory. I currently do not know which one she is in. I'd walk through the hottest fires if it would safe her. I am sure you can understand that feeling. If I know you, you would go to extremes to save her." Despite not feeling the greatest urge to reunite with his other half, he still needed her. To know if she was safe. It was odd for him to actually think of her as a separate being.

After a small pause he continued. " How would you break her out of it. Both dream and memory?"

No sene inruining the moment any more then it already was. He would have to make sure there was another one, after all this was over.

Shane could empathise with Alexavier's plight, but he was starting to become frustrated by the questions. Not only were they completely weird, they weren't even in his field of study.

"Dude, I don't know. You're talking about the metaphysical realm. Ask me about something that can be touched. I don't know anything about dreams."

The Count of Monte Carlo

Ako took a deep breath and let it out in a sigh. He didn't want to get up. The world was so cold, and Gidget was so warm against him. He almostasked for five more minutes, but thought better of it. No sene inruining the moment any more then it already was. He would have to make sure there was another one, after all this was over.

He waited for Gidget to get off of him so he could get up, but he was in no hurry.

Gidget slowly raised herself off of Ako's chest, but not before she kissed him one more time. She stood up and glanced at herself in the mirror. The scars from the surgeries performed to bring her body back to life were healed, but still there. She touched the one on her chest, where her mechanical heart pumped.

"It's funny. For the longest time I sought to be free from that mechanical shell. Even now, I am still dependent on a machine to keep me alive."

She turned her head and peeked at Ako through her long brown hair. "We can come back to this moment again...right?"

" Yes so it seems." Alexavier replied. This wasn't going as he planned. He had hoped that Shane himself would come up with something to snap a person out of this situation. What if he killed him here? Would that force him to wake up? Or would that simply send Legions little sweepers at him?

" You know, for someone who is doing the field of study that you are doing and is walking with someone who constantly talks about evolved humans and is one himself....you don't ask a lot of questions regarding that. Why's that?"

Shane stepped in front and turned to face Alexavier. "Because I don't care right now. I have other priorities: homework, chores, and a bratty little sister to take help look after. Look man, I'm sorry about your sister. I know I would do whatever it took to help Gidget if she were in trouble, but you're barking up the wrong tree."

As he spoke, the scenery around them began to bend and darken. The further away the memory strayed, the more color seemed to drain from the environment.
