Not in a mood for another American politics/President debate, but just wanna say I am delighted Obama one (mainly because I would've dreaded a future with McCain as President). And if given a choice between Obama, Hillary or McCain I would've picked Obama all the way.

Sorry, Berry. Can't stand McCain. I do hope you don't like Obama because of his politics, not his skin colour. I doubt it, since you're in this guild... lol.

And yeah, there's bound to be doubts about Obama. However, if McCain won, the same would be said of him - and of Hillary. You can't put down a man just because there are doubts. If that was always to be the case, no one would ever succeed - no one, after all, is perfect.

Not that McCain would've won anyway, but Palin really lost that election for them, didn't she..? xP

Is it even allowed for the VP and Pres to be from different parties? It's allowed over here, any Member of Parliament can be appointed to ministerial posts, whichever party they're aligned with.. actually, technically, ANYONE can be appointed to ministerial posts, but by convention it's always made up of members of either the Commons or Lords..

@Niph: Yeah, I know, people are gonna have doubts - I do. But I suppose I reacted like that 'cause loads of people began saying, Go Obama, and are not criticising him. And it's great they can see the possible problems, but we are in an era that needs hope - and I want people to be positive. *pout* No one's helping anyone by complaining about Obama. He's President now, and unless he gets assassinated, he's here to stay - for a while, at least. wink We need to all come together and support this guy. He's got enough pressure on his back as it is.

As for Palin - silly woman. xd

This is not so much a complaint as a cry for help. I'm going to be attending interviews that will account for one third of the marks that will get me into med school, WTF am i supposed to wear? A doctor told me to wear a power suit. WTF is that?! I have the body of a 12 year old boy!!! GAAAAHHH!!!! scream

Darling, I'm no med expert, or a fashion expert, or an interview expert, or even an expert of getting into uni in Aussie, but whatever a Power Suit is, it doesn't sound sensible. confused It sounds ridiculous, if I'm honest. Though, it could be like a wifebeater - stupid name, but it's just a a plain piece of clothing. sweatdrop But anyway, don't be overly smart - you don't want to go OOT - and obviously don't be scruffy, i.e. baggy t-shirt and torn jeans. My advice would be to wear a pair of normal jeans, trainers/flat shoes/boots, with a t-shirt and a cardigan or something that looks fairly casual. Tbh, I think they're looking for people who look and act like students, and dressing up reeeeally smartly is just gonna make you feel stiff and uncomfortable and not you. Dress code can help de-/stress a person. Unless, of course, everyone attends these interviews in suits, which, well, in the UK, they don't. Dunno about Aussie.

@B&B - ..I went to interview in pretty smart clothing - being too relaxed is not a good thing when you need to be on your toes, to be honest. I think smart clothes do actually help you feel more on the ball, as it were. Also, these sound like pretty hardcore & serious interviews - I'd go with if not a suit jacket + skirt//trousers then at least a formal shirt + a jumper + formal skirt//trousers (: I like to go with bright and colourful shirts though, it makes you stand out from all the people just wearing white shirts xD

Like Niph said, get some stylish and high class clothing that you can wear for formal appointments. Or whatever a power suit is. xd

You're applying for a medicine course right? Then you'd better be well prepared. At 1/3 of your overall mark I couldn't imagine what would happen if you screwed up your interviews.

If I do fail to get into medicine, it'll probably be because of my HSC mark. But I just bought a skirt today, it's black and goes down to my calves, very office-girl. Planning on pairing it with a short sleeve white shirt with black heels.

@Niph: Darling, barely any of the girls in my school turn up to interviews in reeeally smart clothing. My friend went to York for an interview and was offered BBB, and she wore a jumper and jeans. xd

Personally I don't think it matters too much, what you wear. It's what you have to offer, what you have to say, that matters. If you try too hard it may just backfire on you. My personal view of going to interviews is being dressed in casual clothing, going into an interview feeling relaxed, and being able to chat about my subject and why I love it and what makes literature so amazing without feeling under pressure to look right. I know I'll be nervous, but I think it helps reduce your nerves if you don't make an interview seem like some sort of... work interview. xd I think there's a difference.

It just depends on how you look at it.. casual clothing might just make you look un-serious about it, y'know? And you can chat and stuff about your subject whatever you wear - it's to have a sense of the occasion, as well.
