Lol, I know where you've coming from. 3nodding I suppose it's individual differences as well, at the end of the day. I know my own potential, my own abilities, and I know I'll perform better if I'm relaxed and calm. I know if I dressed in a suit I'd feel that sense of occasion, how important the interview will be, and that'd make me worry rather than spur me to do try harder, because then I'll panic. sweatdrop

But I'm sure we all agree that going dressed as a chav won't help. xd

It always works well when you're truly passionate about the thing they'r einterviewing you about - like the literature that you two are so in love with. My problem is that I've never been passionate about anything in my life, everything is lukeworm, I am truly the MTV generation, if you will.

Well, I'm not that passionate. xd Don't worry, cbc. If you have even a spark of love for what you're doing, then you'll be fine. You just need to learn to bring it across, show it.

Another tip for interview (since people in my year had interview training today, and I thought it'd be a load of crap anyway, and only one of my uni choices interviews, so I didn't go), walk in with your head held high and smiling, not with her head down and shuffling your toes. Doesn't matter what the heck you wear if you don't appear confident and open and friendly. Smile, always smile! Don't panic, of course, lol. And be sure to shake the hand firmly - don't wimp out and draw back really quickly. 3nodding Those are my people tips rather than fashion tips!

Just forget the timidity and push your personality out and forward. That's how I see it; you only have one shot, there's no point being timid about it. I think that might be where I went wrong at Cambs, so.. it's good advice xD

3nodding I concur. ^^ You need to appear fearless! Or rather, that you're able to take anything they throw at you. You don't need to understand everything - you need to be honest and bold enough to say you don't understand, don't flounder - just elaborate your points well, even if you stumble now and again. They understand that you're nervous - everyone is.

OK, well it's one thing to try to appear fearless, it's another to actually achieve that. I think I was shaking a bit at the beginning, but then calmed down.

They took more time to deliberate my interview than this other girl who came out later than me, so I think there might've been some debate about whether I was qualified between the two interviewers.

Man, still got two more to go. gonk

Ach, good luck! whee Long deliberation time can be a good sign, though (: besides, the girl who came out later might just have been rejected straight away... it's always impossible to second-guess this kind of thing 3nodding

Speaking of interviews, I'm attending one on December 3rd to apply for a place in a Nursing course. It's the first time I've applied for it, but I'm feelign confident I can get in. I achieved really high scores for the application test and I've got a good set of credentials from having worked in the healthcare industry for several years now. The only thing that worries me is whether or not I'll be able to juggle two courses at once, as I'm also planning to do honours or postgrad dip next year.

Elf seems like a very confident and qualified candidate for nursing. Maybe if I get into med, we'll work together in the future! surprised

o.o What a scary thought!

@CBC: That sounds like a great idea. It'd be even better if you came down to Melbourne. heart

On another note, I'm still recovering from an a**l probe yesterday. whee I was stabbed four times with needles before the tranquilizer finally kicked in and knocked me out. sweatdrop Then of course, the doctor shoved a probe up my a** whilst I was asleep. BTW, I was stark naked the whole time.

eek

OK, can I just say to the a**l probe: ouch.

Maybe in the future we can work together to help patients feel more comfortable during these...examinations.

"Nurse Elf, bring me the lubricant, please!"
