ENDLESS JOURNEYS (O/A)

Alec bites his bottom lip. He wonders if he should tell her what happened, what he did to put her in danger. She would tell him, but then again it isn't her sworn duty to protect him. But she is more than a master to him, she is a dear friend.

He gently holds her arm and holds her back from the rest of the group. They know where the adults are heading so they can catch up later. "Wait a moment." He sighs heavily and starts to confess.

"When they suggested their game, I asked if they could make it easier by me wagering only my notebook. I was tired and wanted to get back to the room, and the notebook is the only irreplaceable possession I have. They were angered and offended by this."

Alec begins to shake, his nerves getting the better of him. He lowers his gaze, too ashamed to look her in the eyes. "They took your soul, and gave me until dawn to catch them. *Sniff* You were put in danger because of my selfishness and that is unforgivable.*Huff*"

"No! I'd never do anything to hurt you! They took your soul because they knew I'd do anything to get it back! It almost killed me Kerana, but I caught them. And then they told me that the whole thing was a trial. I was furious, but you were safe and that was all that mattered to me."

"I don't expect you to forgive me. I've not only failed you as a guardian, but as a friend. I'm so sorry."

Alec is shocked by Kerana's emotional embrace. He tenses up for just a moment before his body gradually relaxes itself. His eyes also well up with tears. He can't believe that she has forgiven him.

His arms don't move at first, they feel like 5 ton weights are where his hands should be. But he musters up what little courage he is capable of, and then some, to wrap his own arms around her. He sniffs again and mutters, "I couldn't fail...not when it was you."

Alec also rubs the tears from his eyes. He notices the way she rubs her arm. A voice in his head urges him with a repetitive mantra, "Tell her." It whispers again and again, bringing his heart rate up.

Alec brushes his hair out from his eyes. He looks to Kerana and nervously clears his throat. "Kerana..."

His eyes waver a bit, but for the most part maintain contact with her eyes. His cheeks flush red as the pounding in his heart becomes audible in his head."I...I..."

Thoughts flood his head unmercifully. Surely she will say no, I'm beneath her. But she isn't like that, she sees beyond the role I was given at birth. But even if she says yes she would be shunned by her family. What could I possibly have to offer her anyway? Undying affection is what. But she has never given any indication of anything beyond friendship to me.

"I..."

Alec exhales heavily and nods his head. "Yea, okay. It can wait. Thanks Kerana."

He is both relieved and inconceivably disappointed in himself.

Trinity seemed frustrated. She was wondering why these people want to still be around her, even when the necromancer threaten their families. Sighing, she wondered if she made the right decision to let them join her and that her efforts to avoid them earlier was a mere inconvenience.

"That be great." He replied to Nova. "I already know some of the basics, so it wont be hard for you to teach." He continued.

Trinity, Nova and Alejandro arrive at the inn. Trinity opened the door to the tavern part and saw the people staring. There was an awkward eerie and sudden silence. Trinity realized she didn't hide her face but she noticed they weren't looking at her they were looking behind her in Alejandro's direction to be precise. She looked over to Alejandro and Nova and winked at the two. "Valkarie! GET 'EM!" that was Alejandro's cue to start flying. Trinity quickly had every shadow in the room delay them a little. While she and Nova 'go after him'. She turned to Nova, "Help Alejandro I'll go back and get the window open for him."
