Courtyard (North)

[.Conviction.]

Susie's right black fox ear twitched as she heard a voice behind her. Her head turned to the side and then her whole body turned to face him. She didn't recognize him and she figured that he was probably new. A small smile appeared on her face and she shrugged her shoulders.

"I guess so... It was just kind of a spot that i've always gone to." She let out a soft sigh and she bit her bottom lip slightly. Her blue eyes wandered to his hands and she saw the lighter. Because of this she immediately new what his specialty was.

The spot was also where her and her old boyfriend used to go to almost every day and meet. "It just holds a lot of memories I guess..." Susie shook her head and spoke again. "Well, it doesn't matter." She said and then put out her hand toward him to shake his. "I'm Susie. And you are?"  

[Shinygami]

Kaji snapped the lighter into his left hand and held it inside his hand. He held out his right hand and took Susie's left in his to shake it. "I'm Kaji..." He said simply then released her hand. "I kinda guessed this was an important place or something... We tend to return to places where our best moments were held..." He said quietly in his normal calm, relaxed voice. "May I ask what kind of memories you've had here?" He asked rather curious.

Kaji had returned his lighter to his left hand and was constantly weaving it quickly as he thought. Susie huh? I wonder what she's like and if we'll be friends... He continued moving his lighter but lit in a split second and had snaked a small stream of fire which wove through his fingers like a snake along with the lighter. I wonder if she knows my first art already... Ah well... If she doesn't she will now... He thought again as the pleasant wrmth of the flaming stream spred on his hand.  

[.Conviction.]

Susie smiled and Kaji and shook his hand and then released it. "Ah, that's a nice name." She said politely. One of her ears twitched again and her tails waved behind her. She nodded to his statements and she cocked an eyebrow once he asked her what kind of memories. She sighed and blushed a little. "Well, this was a common spot to see my old boyfriend and I, Uwasa. We went out for a few years I think. We actually almost had a child.."

She sighed and clenched her hand a little so that the knuckles were white. She then took in a breath and smiled once more. "It was also just one of the many places where I always thought over things. There were a lot of things that I pondered over here under it's leaves..." And this was true. There were almost too many thoughts that she has had there; some good and some bad.

She shrugged her shoulders. "But, that's about it I guess. Nothing too stunning..." She laughed a little at herself and scratched behind her head. Her eyes then looked down at his hand once more and she saw the flame go in and out of his fingers. She smirked. "Ah, fire is your skill, eh?"

Susie laughed a little to herself and then she lifted up her hand and there, sitting on her palm, was a glowing orange sphere of fire. Her eyes looked at it and within a few moments the sphere morphed into what looked like a large hawk. It's wings, made out of pure fire along with it's whole body, were beating in the air causing a warmth to spread near it.

"Whoever said don't play with fire... obviously didn't know what he was talking about..."  

[Shinygami]

"Pretty much you've had as many thoughts under the tree as there are leaves on the tree?" Kaji asked. "Yeah... Besides fire is our first grand marker of intelligence... It was what we first developed that took more thought than just tying a stick and stone together..." He said and released the flame from his hand. It snaked around his body and took on a serpentine form before going behind his back. Then what came out from behind his back was not serpentine, it was a pair of flaming brilliant wings. When the flames extinguished in their place red feathers made up the wings.

"My full name is Kaji Tori... It actually means Fire Bird... But I'm really part angel and part fire elemental..." He said quietly then the feathers making his wings turned to ash and fell from his back. "I don't even have natural wings... I have to make mine and I can never keep them in place for more than a few minutes without getting exhausted..." He sighed. "So you almost had a child? You must have really loved him... But why did you break up?" He asked curiously.

Kaji then lit his lighter again and formed it into the serpentine stream again and formed a transmutation circle. He then sent the flames into the concrete, making deep scorch marks that formed the circle then he knelt down and clapped his hands forming a concrete sculpture of an angel. He picked it up and looked at it quietly while he awaited Susie's answer.  

[.Conviction.]

Susie smiled and his remarkable abilities. "Ah, I see. That is very interesting. I've never really seen anyone who actually made their own wings with fire. It's a nice quality actually." She sighed and shook her head. "At least, it's better than having to have them rip out of your back to use them every time." She gritted her teeth a little after saying it.

She watched him as he did some more things, but her attention then pulled back to him talking about the tree and her memories. She smiled at how curious he was, it made her happy that he was at least somewhat interested. Or if he was just being polite, it didn't matter.

"Well... The story goes that he left for awhile without telling me. I had no idea where he had gone or anything. Well, one of those days I found a note on my dresser in outr dorm that we shared and it said that he did not love me anymore and he had left because he couldn't bare being near me and that there was someone else. It was signed in his name and everything." A frown showed up on her face and her eyes wandered up to the sky.

"And, almost a week later, after I was pretty much getting through the whole damn thing he shows up. You could imagine what was going on in my head at that time. Well, now he stated that there was no note at all and that he never wrote it... Now, this wouldn't have been so bad. But, don't judge me on this.. But I had been seeing someone just recently before he came back. Almost like a rebound thing really..." She blushed at how silly that was.

"But, we got into this huge fight and I really had feelings for the other man and I had already pretty much obliterated my feelings for him..." She sighed and shook her head, smiling slightly. "Well, I also thought that it would be best if we just didn't see each other anymore. The relationship was getting too serious and we are only in high school after all. I probably will always have feelings for him. But... Oh well..."

"It doesn't really matter anyway..."  

[Shinygami]

"It actually does... Love will be different every time you experience it so you should cherish every different form of love that has come to you..." Kaji said quietly. He put the little sculptur of the angel on a picnic table and returned to talking. "So what are you anyway? A kitsune? A fox demon? I can never really tell them apart by look..." He said simply. another stream of flame had already been drawn from the lighter and was twined around him like a snake.

"Oh... One thing... I might be a freshman but I'm really seventeen... The only reason I'm stuck a freshman is because I just got here..." Kaji said quietly. The flame stream had twined all the way around his body and was spiralling up his legs, arms, and torso. He didn't enjoy people calling him freshman, in fact all he had to do if he was going to advance to a more mature rank without spending years studying was just pass a few tests. He continued letting the stream of flames coil more tightly as he awaited her response once more.  

[.Conviction.]

Susie nodded at what he said and shrugged her shoulders. "Eh, I guess so. That's a good way to look at it." Her ear twitch as she heard his next question. She smiled and laughed a little at it. "I'm a pure bred fox demon." She nodded her head proudly. "You can be sure of that. To me, fox demons are a little more... Talented." She smirked. "That and I don't think kitsunes can actually turn into foxes like fox demons can. And we also have different customs and such. But, by looks, yeah I guess you can't really tell them apart. Except that I have three tails..." She turned around a bit and shook them around, smiling.

"With fox demons you grow more tails as you get stronger. My father had nine of them actually..." She grinned and shook her head. "I don't really know how he got around with them, but he managed."

She crossed her arms over her chest and leaned her weight to one side of her as she listened to him about the freshman issue. She nodded. "Eh, yeah that's kinda how it is here though. They really rank you with how long you've been here, no matter how old you are. Not necassarily a bad thing though... Cause there can be some really older kids but they aren't very good with their abilities..."  

[Shinygami]

"Or there can be people like me who have the talent but have to hang around with freshman and serve more of a helper purpose until they get higher up where they really need to study..." Kaji said simply. The flames coiling on his body now extinguished and he sat on the picnic table boredly. "So... You know of anything good to do right now? I've been bored all day and without any company..." He sighed.

As he awaited her answer, Kaji thought deeply. So she's a pure bred fox demon who seems relatively powerful... Maybe she'd be up for a spar sometime... He thought. He had been getting rusty in the hand to hand combat area and had started getting a little bit less flawless in his weapon combat so he decided he would see if she would take up the offer. "Hey... Do you think you'd feel like going to the training hall and having a little sparring session sometime?" He asked curiously.  

[Mama Ame]

Leila hopped up from her bench. To her it seemed as if she had been there for several hours. It was apparent though, that she had only been there roughly twenty minutes, given the position of the sun. The sun, whose hot beams seemed to be beating directly upon Leila. You're just doing this because I decided to wear all black today she thought bitterly.

She walked slowly, kicking up loose pebbles as she did so. Why had she decided to come to school? It seemed like a bad idea. She wasn't allowed to touch anyone, under no circumstances. Now here she was surronded by thousands of people daily. Who knew what would happened. That girl Melody almost tackled her, for one.

She then overheard a girl, "I'm a pure bred fox demon" she had said. Ame turned around, a girl was leaning, as if putting all her weight on one side of her body. She was talking with a boy.

Of course, of course there were pure bred demons at this school. Leila gazed at the sky. This is going to turn into pandemonium, I just know it.  

[.Conviction.]

She glanced around the area and saw a few more people start to arise and she smiled to herself, loving to see people around once more. Susie nodded about him saying about the freshman thing. "Ah, or that could be it too..." She then shrugged her shoulders and sighed, her ears going to the sides of her head slightly. "I really don't know what to do. This is the first time i've been here in a year.. and I still don't know what to do here..." She laughed a little and scratched behind her head nervously.

"Ah, a sparring session? That sounds great actually. Though, keep in mind I don't use weapons, but my.. magic you could say. If you're up to that at least..." She cocked an eyebrow, waiting for a response. Susie hadn't actually fought anyone in a while. Sure out in the world she had had little quarrels and such with people and things like that. But she had never fought with people like this.  

[Shinygami]

"Sounds fun... I hardly ever spar with my little powers so this could be a great way to loosen up..." Kaji said quietly. "So you went away for a year? That's interesting..." He said quietly, smooth relaxed voice still in place. He put a hand to his forehead then pushed it through his bangs lightly. "So you wanna go to the training hall now?" He asked. He wasn't sure why but he was getting rather anxious. He hadn't fought or sparred anyone yet and was more than ready to see who would win the little spar.  

[.Conviction.]

Susie smiled and nodded. "Yep, one full year. So, this should be a good work out for me. Maybe you can give me a run for my money, eh?" She laughed and nodded her head. "Actually, I woudl love to have a little spar right now. I challenge you!" She giggled and pointed her finger at him and then rested her hands on her hips.

"To the training hall?" She asked in a pleasant voice.  

[Shinygami]

"Heh... Yeah to the training hall then..." Kaji said in his still quiet voice. He always was relaxed and quiet, he didn't know why but nothing much really got to him. He was just a calm quiet person. He leaned back on the bench and pushed off with his hands, hitting the ground hard with his feet. "So... Shall we?" He asked quietly starting off to the training hall.  

[.Conviction.]

Susie nodded and smiled now standing up straight. Her three black fox tails with white tips wagged behind her and her black fox ears perked up on her head. She started on her way to the training hall. She was actually very excited to do this. It was one of the main things that she missed about Ria.
