The past week hadn't as relaxing for Ako as it had been for some others. After so many years out west, under an open sky, it was hard to adjust to being inside most of the time. He managed to sneak away a few times to get out and ride his bike, enjoying the sensation of thundering through the subdistrict, but he could never stay away from Gidget for too long before starting to worry. He was always back within a few hours of disappearing, his hair blown back and his stride more relaxed.
This time, however, he was just in the other room when Gidget called his name. He'd gone to the kitchen to get a drink, and now appeared in the doorway, clad only in his (newly cleaned and dust free) jeans, holding a glass of water.
"Morning," He said with that confident half-smile, propping his free arm up against the doorway. He glanced at the clock on the bedside table to see it was actually in the afternoon, but who cared? "Sleep well?"

The past week hadn't been easy for Annie, by any means, but she decided to start something she hadn't had done in years-painting. And painting she done almost obsessively whenever she was in her room, since Gidget was kind enough to get her paints. In the week, beyond her time she spent at the cafeteria or the occasional training or entertaining Christian she had managed to produce seven paintings and was working on her eighth that day- this one of two hands reaching for each other in a background and swirl of color.
As she worked, Christian lay on the bed reading a copy of The Hobbit. He occasionally stumbled over a word because his reading level wasn't astronomical, but he managed fairly well and Annie figured it wasn't that creepy or disturbing of a book. At the moment, Valhalla hadn't figured out which class to place Christian. They both looked up when they heard the knock at the door, Annie finished a few strokes of her painting and lay down her paintbrush before opening the door to find Larry.
Christian closed his book and hoped off the bed, coming over, he liked Larry in an odd way. The big simple-minded bloke was usually happy and like Annie craved the presence of good people (which Larry also tended to be), Larry was usually happy. He wasn't smart enough not to be, thought Christian cynically as he said aloud with a small formal smile, "Hello Larry, how's school? I'm almost jealous. Miss Gidget and the others are too busy to bother with figuring out whether I should go or not yet."

The Count of Monte Carlo The past week hadn't as relaxing for Ako as it had been for some others. "Morning," He said with that confident half-smile, propping his free arm up against the doorway. He glanced at the clock on the bedside table to see it was actually in the afternoon, but who cared? "Sleep well?"
Gidget scooched up into a seated position, leaving only the bare curves of her back visible. She drew the sheet up to her chest and smiled sweetly at Ako. "Of course I did. You leave only pleasant thoughts in my dreams."
Her eyes took him in from head to toe. Her cheeks turned a soft red at the ideas of what she wanted to do to him...or let him do to her. After thirteen years of feeling nothing, all she wanted was pleasure. Physical, emotional, carnal, it didn't matter. It was all the same to her as long as the pain went away.
"It's awful lonely in this big bed of yours," she whined playfully, "and I'm not sure if these covers are enough to keep me warm."

Larry looked down at Christian and smiled. It amazed him how smart the little boy was. Larry shrugged, as he had often seen Christian and his mother doing, having figured out it means not caring much. "Not. Bad."
He frowned somewhat and pulled out a book from his bag. It was a copy of "Go Dog, Go." Larry made a face at the book. He put it back in his bag and zipped it before pointing to himself. "Ten. Slow. Not. Stupid."

"Of course not," Annie said with a polite smile before bowing her head and returning to her painting.
Christian glanced at her- she could get so wrapped up in painting and art, it didn't make sense to him, but it did surprise him how his mother could make blobs of color into something. He had heard she was an art major and assumed she was decent but never gave it much thought, then again Daedalus wasn't going to just let her do something as frivolous as painting. "Are the others calling you stupid?" Christian asked bluntly. "Maybe I don't want to go to school and be called names, too... What do you want to do? I was getting bored cooped up here but Mom doesn't like me wondering the halls alone even though she should know I am perfectly capable."
Annie smiled faintly at him and said, "You are also perfectly capable of getting into trouble on your own if someone isn't around to keep that busy mind of yours preoccupied all the time. By all means, you aren't a prisoner here, if you want to go about and play do so. It might be good for you."
Christian wrinkled his nose and said conspiratorially to Larry, "I think she is teasing me." It did make him relieved, though, that she had the bit of gusto to do that much. Maybe all that painting was good for her.
