But then, lying and getting away with it was impossible. Her voice broke, and couldn't get above a whisper.

Nimia sighed and sat in a random chair, looking down at the floor. "He asked me to marry him, but I refused," she answered. "So he left me at the restaurant with nothing but a meaningless apology note." Venom was starting to seep into her voice. "I didn't read it."
