More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

The boy reached out to Annie and flatly stated, "Your body is broken. I can fix it."

Gidget was still trying to piece it all together. The boy definitely looked like Shane at that age, but there was something different about him. "Be careful Annie. It looks like him, but I don't think it is him."

Annie narrowed her eyes at the boy before she glanced at Gidget. Something was off but was it so wrong to hope. She returned her gaze to the child and said harshly, "At what cost? My body merely hasn't caught up with my powers, I wouldn't define that as broken. That is more of a term Daedalus would use for me: a broken weapon. A broken destructive demigod."

The boy nodded and said again, "I can fix it. I can do that."

Gidget looked skeptically at the boy. Was it actually possible that this boy's power involves genetic correction? She swallowed hard and asked, "Are you saying you can make her body catch up to her powers?"

The boy looked over at Gidget and tried to smile the same way Annie did earlier. He didn't exactly know what the gesture meant, but it gave him a good feeling. "I can do that."

The boy nodded and said again, "I can fix it. I can do that."

Gidget looked skeptically at the boy. Was it actually possible that this boy's power involves genetic correction? She swallowed hard and asked, "Are you saying you can make her body catch up to her powers?"

The boy looked over at Gidget and tried to smile the same way Annie did earlier. He didn't exactly know what the gesture meant, but it gave him a good feeling. "I can do that."

Annie raised a brow, realizing that she wasn't good with dealing with kids even though she had kids. Instead she addressed Gidget, "It is tempting if there aren't strings attached, but if my body caught up with my powers that could be a bad thing. Right now my sense of nobility and the fact that my body can't keep up keeps me from becoming a true monster. If I was able to make my body catch up to my powers than only my morality would keep me in check."

She glanced back at the boy and asked, "Why do you want to do this?"

The boy couldn't comprehend the questions true depth. He only said again, "Because I can fix it. It's good to fix things."

Cassandra smiled warmly at the boy and ruffled his hair a bit.

"You're a good boy aren't you?" She spoke for the first time since being hatched. Even before she rarely spoke.

Alexavier didn't feel jealous as he expected to feel. It seemed they were fully separated now. No lingering hungry for the other. No desire to be one anymore. Only the question why. His power had been restored enough for him to know that the boy was not Shane. In a way he was but also wasn't.

"That isn't Shane. Not the one we know. Completely different signature. A mixture of what we were supposed to be and Shane." Alexavier cocked his head as he looked at the boy. Why did he exist?

Annie frowned: dealing with Christian made her forget how to deal with normal children. She glanced over at Alexavier and didn't know if she was relieved or disappointed that the boy wasn't the Shane she knew. Glancing back at the boy she asked, "What are we supposed to do about this? What am I supposed to do about his offer? I am inclined to jump into it blindly, but that gets me into problems often."

The boy giggled and smiled genuinely at the praise from his mother. He looked back at Annie with that same innocent smile and said, "I touch you, and fix you. It's easy."

Gidget studied the boy for a few seconds. It occured to her that he can't lie. He was a new life comprised of three DNA's and only knew how to speak because of his Father's psychic power. He had no concept of deceit. Her heart began to slow as the puzzle started to come together.

"I think you can trust him. He seems to be innocence incarnate. So that probably makes the egg..."

She whirled around to Trinity and ordered, "Go back to my lab and tell Gadget to destroy the egg. It may be able to influence organics, but it can't control my old body."

Alexavier softly began to laugh. " Life has a way of throwing you a curve ball doesn't it? We wanted to be one and the man who did that is the result of that."

"I say do it Annie. A free power up without drawbacks? Well...." Theonis wondered. " Question time kiddo." He said with a smile." Can you tell if my body is catching up to my power on it's own? And would her body go through the same changes as mine? Do you understand what I'm asking?" He asked hesitantly. He had no idea what the child could understand.

The heartbeat increased inside of the egg. It could sense a disturbance .

The boy looked at Theonis. He didn't understand the questions, but he could tell that there was something to fix with Theonis too.

"Still changing. I can finish it." He said with definitive certainty.

So it wasn't the end of his mutations. They were on going and he could finish them. But what would change? With a potential huge threat lurking right around the corner could he even afford to worry of what might change? Could he reject the offer and just life the rest of his life barely using his power?

"Ahhh to hell with it!" Theonis said mostly to himself as he stepped forward and reached out his hand to the child for him to grab.

The boy squirmed out of his mother's grasp and took both of Theonis' hands into his small and delicate grip. He looked up the man and took on an expression of the purest serenity.

The flesh on the boy's hands began to shift and crawl in a manner similar to Shane's biomass until his hands had fused and become one with Theonis' hands. He became one with Theonis' genetic makeup and began to advance it to it's full potential. He took the opportunity to obtain a more robust vocabulary.

His soft words cooed comfortably as he said, "Embrace your gift. It will soon be complete."

Annie stood back contemplating for a moment- no more coughing blood, being able to take revenge without dying in the process if she chose, maybe even solving the problem of her poisonous blood. "Nothing is for free," she muttered, "but I'll do it."

She leaned down and held out a hand to the boy and said, "Now that you've helped Theonis, will you help me?"

The boy kept his gaze on Theonis as he addressed Annie. "Once I have completed the process I have started with him. I cannot sever the connection without killing him."

"But of course," Annie said calmly, pulling her hand back and squatting down waiting patiently. "I'm just glad I'm not the test subject for once."

Ako was content to just watch the goings on, simply standing by to support Gidget, literally and figuratively. As the child explained his gift, and demonstrated it on Theonis, he struggled to contain a shudder. It was a powerful gift, if it was real, but seeing it in use was sort of grotesque. It was scary in another sense, as well; immmediately gaining full control overs one's power, without learning the lessons training had to offer could lead to some reckless use of that power. Where would Ako be if he had suddenly learned to use his full power, without experiencing the shocks that he did? It was easy to see how someone could go power mad.
