I would not be all that surprised by that either, seeing as the kind of Naruto fanart I've come across.

Oh he had need of them against Deidara. Then again the other guy had the advantage, considering Gaara had to protect an entire city, while his enemy didn't have to worry about protecting anyone but himself.
