Kirai stepped out into the courtyard, dragging a bloody mess behind him in tow; Austin still hadn't snapped out of his daze. He approached the fountain calmly, and picked up Austin's thin, shambled frame, laying him at rest against the siding. Kirai reached into the fountain and started splashing a good amount of water onto Austin. His crusty shirt became moist again, and some water and blood washed out of his hair. Kirai grumbled, knowing this wasn't doing the job. He slipped his scroll into Austin's shirt, and it made a precise cut down the collar to the knot he'd tied earlier. Kirai pulled the shirt off, examining the cuts; they weren't as deep as he had originally thought, which was good, for Austin's sake. Austin grumbled slightly, opening the less-crusty eye of his pair, looking around. He felt an immense sting when cold, cold water was splashed into his wound, and hissed by sucking in air and grasping at his affliction. The pain caused him to open his other eye too, breaking the matted blood on his eyelashes, and turn his head to Kirai just in time to get splashed in the face. He sputtered some water, snorting once to clear his nose. "Please stop, now." Another splash. "STOP!" Austin scooted away from the fountain, facing Kirai. When he saw who had been splashing him, he leapt to his feet, taking a defensive stance. "You." Kirai stood, preparing himself should Austin decide to attack. "You recognize me? We've only met twice, but we've never been formally introduced." "Yeah, I'm fully aware." Austin looked around, seeing he was in the courtyard instead of the training room. "What am I doing here?" "You were simply laying there in a puddle of blood like a pathetic whelp. I figured you could at least use a couple splashes of liquid refreshment." "..." Austin seemed to be thrown off by this. He lowered his guard slightly, but didn't come closer. "Thank you."
Kirai nodded slightly to acknowledge his thanks. It was good to see he wasn't an arrogant fool, and at least appreciated help when it was given. "I'm Kirai Kurokiba. And you are Austin Gonzales, right?"
It always produced an odd effect on Austin when people knew his name before he'd introduced himself. It felt strangely cool, but with what he knew, he wasn't happy people could identify him. It made hiding in a crowd difficult. "I am, I am." Austin approached Kirai calmly, and then sat down a short distance away from him on the fountain, deciding to wash off the remainder of the blood in his wounds and hair.
"Would you mind if I ask where you attained those wounds?" Austin remembered the chat he'd had with Ginseku not long ago. Then he noticed he had no clue what time it was. "What time is it?" Austin glanced over to see what Kirai's reaction would be; He pulled back his sleeve to show he had no watch, and added: "No clue." "I see..." A moment passed while Austin splashed some water into his hair, scrubbing it intensely. He submerged it for a couple moments, rigorously scrubbing his scalp clear of blood. "It was a sparring match. I needed some training." Kirai was surprised by this, although it didn't show. "I was training moments before finding you, i'm pretty sure you can gather." Austin placed both of his hands a few inches away from his hair. A small whirlwind formed around each, then began to fuse together, wrapping around his head. His golden-brown locks churned and pulsed as the water was vacuumed out. The whirlwind took a dull pink hue, and Austin removed it from his hair like a cap, and released it from his grip over the fountain. About half a cup of slightly bloody water fell back in as the whirlwind faded without a trace. "It's an odd circumstance that you should help me. But since we find ourselves here under peaceful conditions, why not talk a bit? I have some things to ask." "Very well. Gather your thoughts and speak when you're ready." Austin Calmly reached into his pocket and pulled out a now-crumpled box of Marlboro No.27's. He pulled out the only un-broken one(which was still a scrunched up mess), straightened it out, and packed it a bit with a stick. He rubbed the tip of his thumb against the bridge of his pointer quickly, and snapped his fingers. A small flame popped up on the tip of his thumb for only a second, but in that second Austin puffed heavily on his cigarette, causing a heavy flux of vacuum and super-oxidation. He puffed calmly now, taking a long drag after dipping his thumb in the fountain and shaking it dry. He exhaled, blowing smoke.
"You know that's really not healthy for you. Indian cigarettes are much healthier than those; they don't have additives like saltpeter and potassium cyanide." "Those little ones rolled in sageleaf with long strands of naturally flavored tobacco? They're not bad, but that sage destroys your throat." "I don't smoke, i've only been told." "Ah." Austin ashed his cigarette, tapping it lightly.
"You control demons, don't you?" Kirai looked at Austin for a moment, then looked back down at the ground. "Yes." "I assume there is a meditation aspect behind that skill, isn't there?" Kirai looked at Austin; he seemed to be learn-ed in some aspects of manipulation. "What of it?" "I need to reach a physically sealed demon within a human. How would I go about doing so?" Kirai's eyes widened a bit. "Is this knowledge for personal use or for the benefit of someone else?" "Both." "You are trying to release this demon, or simply contact it?.." "It would be worthwhile to work on the release, yes, but I only need to contact it, right now."
Kirai looked off into the sky; it was a grey day, even though the sun was out. "There's an herb you have to brew, and it's a long, drawn out process. I have this potion pre-made, but I cannot simply hand it over." "What do you ask in return?"
Kirai thought on it for a moment, considering what he could gain from Austin through this exchange that he would freely give. "What do you know about resurrection and binding?" Austin gasped slightly, exhaling a bit of smoke in doing so. "Sendo Kemuri?"
Kirai looked up at Austin. "Yes."
Austin took a long hard drag of his cigarette. He limply flicked it upwards towards a trashcan, and though it should've missed, the wind picked up at the last second and carried it to the lip before dying out. "I may have a way of doing this. The binding process requires the summoner's blood for the scroll. And it needs a soul identical to the one you're trying to bind. You also need the corpse, or at least a corpse doll."
Kirai looked at the ground for a moment, and Austin did the same.
"I'll do it, but you have to front me the potion, and you need to provide the supplies for my end of the deal." Kirai thought about it for a moment, and then nodded. "Very well." Austin walked over to Kirai and shook his hand. "I'll meet you back here after dark. Bring the potion." "Alright. Until then." Austin headed off in the direction of the dorms, deciding to go check into Gin's old dorm since he was most likely in the hospital right now. He needed to dress his wounds, and here wasn't the place for it.
