Alec followed Trinity. His legs felt like fifty stone weights were tied to them, and he was pretty sure he could taste his stomach. His mind is so preoccupied that he didn't even notice Kerana and Nova's scent in the room they passed.

He walked through the doorway into Trinity's room and shut it behind him quietly. He turned slowly to face Trinity. His shoulders nearly climbed up to his ears as he felt the terror bubble up inside of him.

Trinity let out a deep sigh and looked at the book that was obviously Alec's. This reminded her so much of when she was protecting Lord Saturn and how she never told him, doing that would be considered treason and tainting the upper class bloodline. A treason that would only end in death. She closed the curtains to the window and closed the door to her room then give Alec his book back, placing it on his chest. "If you truly love her, truly care for her... you musn't tell her. I believe you very well know what would happen next. Keep all your thoughts of her in here."

"I once made the same mistake you're making."

"I will certainly try Kerana. I cannot guaranty that it will work but I shall try." He replied to the fox. "I know elders can be very stubborn in their ways. At least they won't be like the dragon-kin. They tried to torch me."

"Dragon-kin!? Really?". Kerana's tail wagged with excitement she loved hearing about distant lands, the people and the culture. Many questions circled her head that she just had to ask ,"I hear that they are short tempered is that true? What color were they? Do they really hoard treasures?"

Guess that distraction worked out fine.

"Hold your horses Kerana. They are very proud so they can be pretty short tempered yeah. Especially the women. The color of their scales depends on their dragon ancestor. Only if the line is pure though. If they mix with others outside of their lineage the color will change. Some frown upon that while others embrace it."

"But no they don't hoard treasures and neither did the actual dragons. Those stories are made up by scholars so people would be lured by the promise of treasure. If they manage to slay the dragon then it would be studied. But they are almost completely immune to magic. So good luck with that."

Alec's ears twitched. He brought his hands up and hugged the book to his chest. His voice trembles as he says, "A mistake? No...a mistake is when you bring the wrong book to class. This is right out torture."

He became silent for just a second as he thought about what Trinity said. "So...what happened with you?" He asked hesitantly.

Trinity looked to the boy and let out another sigh.  It was obvious that this was going to be hard for her to talk about.

"You're right, mistake isn't the right word...when that seems so distant in the past ... it's easier to call it that.

When I started protecting Lord Saturn, I fell for him.  In my home town, I was the winner of the sword fighting competition.  Usually only men would compete and win matches, that is until I did.  Despite the fact a girl won this competition he still accepted me as to be his captain of the royal guard.

Since the first day, his handsome qualities, his ideals, his laughter, everything about him made me think he'd may be the one.  I wanted to act I wanted to tell him.  Yet I knew the consequences if I acted upon those feelings was death. Even if I did act on my feelings, the men who were under my command would see it as weakness and favoritism all the respect I had to earn would be lost.  So I never told him.

I still at least enjoyed the time  we had together when planning invasions and defending his kingdom.  Every time I lead the troops out I kept thinking how proud I'd make him.  It really stung when he introduced me to the woman he loved, it took a very long time to get over that..."

She  held the charm she wore around her neck delicately.  "The last time I saw him, was the day I saved his son... and he gave me this.  I do admit though... there are times today I regret not telling him at all..."

Alec squeezed the book tightly as he took in Trinity's story. He tucked his chin to his collarbone ad let his hair obscure his features as he spoke. For whatever reason it made him feel safer to speak from behind his curtain of hair.

"The fox-kin were nearly extinct once. A spiritual pact was made and my ancestors became their guardians. Sometime later the old ways were forgotten. Eventually we became not only their guardians but their servants. If it were to be known that I harbor feelings for her I would be punished severely. If we were to mutually fall in love she would be disowned and exiled, and I would be executed for threatening their pure bloodline."

"I started writing in this shortly after our twelfth birthday, as a way to keep my feelings for her in check and still have a way to express them. I've been keeping my thoughts in this book for so long that I have come to see it as the very source of my love for her. So much so that I nearly lost her last night because of it. When I tried to tell her earlier I choked. Not because of what would happen to me, but because of the possibility that she would say the same. I'm so scared that this book isn't enough anymore. "

He leans against the wall and slides down to a sitting position. "Why is love so difficult?"

"I don't know Alec, I don't know. But what I do know is that the with all these stupid rules in the way, it makes it even harder... You say the book may not be enough... would it help any if you talk to me about it from time to time?

I tend to get up in the crack of dawn and work out, including running some laps. I wouldn't mind the company then and there aren't many people up at that time."

She really wanted to help him out and tried to think of any way possible. She knew how hard it can be, and perhaps "torture" would be the right word for it in the current state he's in.

"Almost completely immune to magic? Awww... I thought it would be cool if I could add dragon slayer to my list of skills. But I guess that's why you'd usually hear tails of a knights that would slay them huh?

Do all dragons breath fire? I heard some two headed ones spit flamable poison and a spark, and there are ones that breath frost." Changing subjects from about the way she feels about Alec to dragons was just what she needed. She knew what she had to do... but hate to think how Alec would take the news.

"Dragon Slayer huh? Now that's a rare thing these days. Those existed when dragons caused trouble centuries ago. These days there aren't that many left due to the Dragon Hunts. Those that did survive grew to hate humans. Explains why the dragon-kin aren't too fond of humans themselves."

"But about the whole fire breathing...I think it is standard for most dragons. I cannot say for sure because to be frank....I haven't met that many. Only one. And I can assure you that he does, in fact breathes fire"

Alec peeked up at Trinity, then looked back down at his tiny frame. Exasperated, he puffed some of his hair away and asked, "Do I look like the sort of person that could keep up with you?"

He thought for a moment, and responded to her other question with, "I don't know if talking about it would help. It isn't really even helping now. I think I'm more confused now then I was yesterday."

Alejandro Inazuma

Alejandro nodded at Nova's request and went down. When he got there, he noticed Trinity and Alec in a heated conversation, and decided not to interfere. Instead, he simple walked outside and sat down, putting his cloak on before anyone noticed him.

Trinity simply shook her head and smiled. She placed a hand on her hip and shifted her weight, "Boy you give yourself way too little credit.
You were the one who got there in the nick of time and caught that burglar and broke his arm. You were the one carrying around a bag of gold yesterday very easily. You were the one who beat the fae in their game. On top of that you weren't that far off when chasing me around this morning.
So in some ways, yeah... despite your exterior, you have the potential.

As for your uncertainty, I may not know exactly how she feels about you, but one thing is quite obvious. She does enjoy your company."

Alec couldn't help but blush a little bit at the compliments he was receiving. A hint of a smile started to cross his lips just before he averted his gaze back down to the floor. "Yea, I guess I did do all that didn't I?"

"I already know she likes being around me. The other fox-kin act like it's a privilege for the wolves to be spoken to without a command. Kerana actually converses with me. She doesn't see the family I was born into, she sees me."

Trinity nodded at his confirmation, "You don't have to worry about your secret or your book. It's safe with me. My offer still stands for tomorrow morning, think of it this way, the more you train the better you can protect her.". She went to the door and opened it, "If you don't have anything else to let off your chest I'll go down and join Alejandro at the table." she held on to a door just in case if there was more to talk about.
