And please correct me if I'm wrong but if that is the case....wouldn't that Shin-Okami or new wolf whatever, be in here?" Theonis said summing up what he knew plus combining it a bit with imagination.

"Yeah bout that. If I can't pinpoint it because it pops up every now and then. What makes you say you can find it? I still think we should just kill or control Chuck." Alexavier replied pouting a bit.

"Uh, hell yeah I like it. You look amazing girl." Liv replied Something really has changed about Heather and it wasn't just her looks. Now she really was coming on to her. But what she said next slightly confused her.

"Thanks but.. my...light? You mean my ability?"

Heather smiled and bit her bottom lip playfully. "These eyes can see the way light is drawn to you. When it reaches you it changes, becomes more vivid. It's like you produce your own aurora. It's how I found you. You leave dancing light in your wake."

Her hands drifted down to her stomach and rested themselves as she gasped and then sighed softly. Her eyes fluttered as she whispered, "Like butterflies."

Cassandra also spoke up to answer her boy's question. "They separated your father and I when we were one. They could run their tests on us. Too dangerous they said. They are responsible for what eventually led to this moment. To you. Shane was one of their experiments as well."

Damien pondered on this for a moment before voicing his opinion. "They sound like a group of irresponsible dolts. Yet they are allowed to continue as though they have done nothing wrong. Why is that? Are people so easily fooled?"

It took Ako another few seconds to work out what Gidget had said, and to figure out how to answer. "I'm fine, at least I think so. I'm in the gym, training...thing. And, yeah, I'll uh,... I'll see you there." He started walking, unsure of whether or not to hang up.

He felt slower, clumsy, like the synapses firing in his brain and nervous system were slower. The phone felt dead in his hand, where it would normally be alive to his senses, the circuits pulsing with power. Now, it just felt like a lump of plastic, the same way it did before he got his power. Had he overdone it? Had he finally burned himself out, like he'd hoped to do so many years ago, before he lost track of his friends?

The thought that he might have lost even a fraction of his power scared him immensely.

It took Gidget just about as long to reach her lab as it did Ako. She met him at the door and rushed up to him once she saw how haggard he looked.

"Holy crap! Are you okay? You're so pale. Come inside and sit down." she insisted.

She led him inside and to a chair where he could rest. She was just about to shower him with concern when a thought occurred to her. She made a face and hit him in the arm with her tiny fist. "Jerk, you said you were at the training hall. You tried to dump your power all at once again didn't you? Just like thirteen years ago."

Deora pulled out her own phone as it buzzed and gave a chirp. Here eyes scanned the message, and her brow furrowed in confusion and worry. "This can't be right. It says Trinity is working against Valhalla." The quick temper she worked hard to control showed itself a bit as her accent thickened. "This is loco, she's the one who saved me! Who wrote this? Who's this Richards idiot?"

"I think we've missed something." Kerana took out her phone. Her ears sank as she read a previous message about how Trinity Smith left and that now Chuck Richards is the new Head of Security and Acting Head of Valhalla. "¡Dios mio! Trinity left and now he's the new Head of Security and Acting Head of Valhalla?!? What happened she wasn't here not to long ago helping Heather adjust. How did it come to this?!"

Larry's brow dropped low and menacing. His mouth forming into a large grimace. He put his enormous hands up and cracked his knuckles. Each crack sounded like a tree being split.

"Miss Smith wouldn't do that. She gave us a home after Matron was burned. I think someone needs to teach Mister Richards not to spread rumors."

It took Gidget just about as long to reach her lab as it did Ako. She met him at the door and rushed up to him once she saw how haggard he looked.

"Holy crap! Are you okay? You're so pale. Come inside and sit down." she insisted.

Ako gladly plopped down on the chair, resting his elbows on his knees. He was about to breathe out a sigh when Gidget's fist impacted his arm. The hand was relatively small, but that only concentrated the force. Still, it didn't hurt too bad.

"Ow." He said absently, rubbing the spot she'd hit. "This wasn't like that." He started to explain.
"You were right, even back then. Well, Shane was right, I guess." He spoke a little softer than usual, and slow, like he was thinking carefully about his words. "What you said echoed in my mind. I didn't want to believe you, but it was true. As much as I tried getting rid of this power, it would never happen. It always comes back, and if I don't use it, the charge just builds and builds."

He paused to collect his thoughts again. "You know what happens when a battery is overcharged, right? Well, the same thing happens to me. Kinda. I don't physically blow up, but all the energy just kind of explodes out all at once. It happened a couple times those first few years. I learned real quick to either drain my charge occasionally or stay away from people."

His gaze rose from the floor to Gidget's face as he continued, his eyes begging her to understand. "I didn't want that happening here, You've already lost someone when they lost control, i didn't want to add to that. I went to the gym to drain my charge, just enough that I wouldn't be a hazard."

His eyes dropped back to his boots. "There was a woman there. I wasn't interested in her, but she convinced me to show off a bit. I thought I knew how much I had spent, but when we left, I felt drained. Way more than I should have been."

He looked at his hands, spreading his fingers apart. He tried to make a Jacob's Ladder arc, but only the tiniest of flickers walked between his index and middle fingers. "I should be fine with some rest, but it makes me wonder; will these powers eventually wear off as we get older?"

"Ohh, I'm right behind you, big guy." Deora almost growled. Her blue eyes were icy behind her fiery temper. "I say we go find this Richards guy and have a little chat with him. Kerana, you can go find Heather. I think she likes you better, anyway."

Teshoumaru nodded solemnly to Theonis before answering Trinity's inquiry. "The person controlling her was a metahuman that can force his will into the minds of animals or humans with animal traits."

"After seeing how successful she was at nearly killing you, they thought it might be worth their while to break the seal and control the demon. Unfortunately for them, the demon is not something that can be classified in any scientific sense. It simply is."

"They managed to lure it into Freya's light prison and keep it at bay. I've spent the last week keeping an eye on it from the shadows. Well, a week real time that is."

Trinity folded her arms and said with a hint of sarcasm. "It's good to know they're still thinking about me..." Her facial expression shifted to concern wondering about Freya, "What about Freya? Is she alright?"

Damien pondered on this for a moment before voicing his opinion. "They sound like a group of irresponsible dolts. Yet they are allowed to continue as though they have done nothing wrong. Why is that? Are people so easily fooled?"

"Duh... people are stupid," Christian said. "And it isn't like only dumb people are working in and with Daedalus. Consider what meta-humans can do, if you don't have that sort of power, it makes sense to be worried. Daedalus is seen as their saving grace or whatever. For example, Mom was hoping to find a cure to her blood and didn't want to unintentionally hurt people so she joined as a test subject. Of course that was before Daedalus really went completely crazy or whatever..."

"Nothing says that I can find it," Annie answered, "but trying to follow the signal is a better bet on finding it than not doing anything. And, what solution would killing or controlling 'Chuck' do? Controlling may help, but that's more bother than it is worth at the moment. Killing him would just open the door to further complications."

He looked at his hands, spreading his fingers apart. He tried to make a Jacob's Ladder arc, but only the tiniest of flickers walked between his index and middle fingers. "I should be fine with some rest, but it makes me wonder; will these powers eventually wear off as we get older?"

Gidget listened carefully before shaking her head. "These powers aren't going anywhere. It's not a phase our bodies go through like puberty. If that were true I would have lo..."

Then it suddenly sinks in. "A woman? What was her name?"

Liv wasn't a dense person. She knew what was happening. Butterflies? In her stomach? It did explain some of her previous behavior. She had the hots for her! Maybe it was wrong to think but Liv didn't care about that. Right now, Heather looked a lot better. Her own expression changed to something more playful.

"Butterflies huh?" Liv replied teasingly." I don't think you're looking at my butterflies right now."

"Killing would be more fun though. Wait, what am I supposed to do while you're dripping through the cracks?" Alexavier asked as if he just realized that now.

"Not my problem. It isn't like I'm your babysitter. My job isn't to keep you entertained," Annie answered with a shrug. "Why don't you go have fun killing Chuck and then clean up the mess afterwards?" She asked sarcastically.
