. An Arcana check from someone trained in it might determine what spell it cast.

OOC: I've got an Arcana skill of 12, I'll roll.
EDIT: 9+12 = 21

Lars walks over to the used scroll, eyeing it cautiously. He kneels down beside it, and holds his hand over it, his eyes going mistier than usual. He attempts to extract any magical remnants left within.

With your knowledge of magic you discover that the scroll had been a Scroll of Endure Elements (Level 2 Ritual). The magic Ritual would have given the user and up to 4 additional people the ability to ignore ambient temperatures between -50 and 140 degree Fahrenheit. It also would have given those bestowed with it immunity to precipitation magical or otherwise (rain, snow, blood, frogs etc) for up to 24 hours.

Since you matched the Hard DC for the level of the Ritual you also know that when the ritual discharged it targeted the most powerful beings in the inn. Including yourself, the cleric, the tiefling and unfortunately Granthrim as well.

You also know that the effects of the ritual are incomplete being that they came from a discharged scroll. They will wear off if those affected by them are not within 15 feet of each other for more than an hour.

With this knowledge, and a feeling of strange magical power coursing through his veins, Lars stands up.
"We're protected from the weather, for now...but we have to stay the close. There's a Cleric here, is there not? And you, Granthrim, and Despair. We're all enchanted, but only if we're close together. That man must've cast the spell for a reason. Maybe we're meant to be looking for something...and these disappearances sound fishy. Should we go and take a look?" Lars says to the others.

Despair mutters to herself, it is something in giant, and in an almost odd accent. "Yes, I think we need to find this man, whomever he is." And if we can run around in the weather, we might be able to find something that may be masked in it. The best way to kidnap people is to find the worst weather possible, weather that will cover tracks well, and no one will follow because they physically cannot."

Despair sighs, and readies herself. She sticks her hood back over her head and runs out the door, but not before shouting, "well, come on. If we don't go now he is gone!" She runs out into the rainy muddy town.

((Geez, I missed a lot. Thanks for quoting me so I would finally see that the game was moving, Plasma))

Watching as the stranger's toad activated the scroll, Tradak could only watch as the man left after the scroll discharged it's magic, though he could feel something strange bathe his body, and he knew that the power had adorned him, and apparently the tiefling and the Eladrin, not to mention their host.
As they began to talk about leaving, he stood quickly and moved closer to the group, his focus on what they had been up to.
He was about to question Lars on his own purposes in the inn, but Despair ran out, and Tradak couldn't help but smile, saying as he followed at a run, "I do love having something to do other than sit and drink."

Alright, leaving the inn is still slightly difficult. The rain may not affect players but it does affect the environment. Lighting outside the inn is dim at best when a bolt of lightning strikes so those with Low-light vision are fine. Those without however take a -2 penalty to attack rolls, Perception checks and Nature checks to track. The rain has made the road very muddy. For those who wish to follow the man it will take a nature check to track. Those trained in it will get a better result.

Tradak has Low light vision, so it isn't going to affect him as much.
As for the check, I rolled a 17 there, with a +2 to nature checks, so a 19 total for tracking the stranger through the harsh weather.

Lars follows the other two outside the inn.
Lars possesses low-light vision, and tries to track the stranger as well.
Nature of +2...
Edit: Epic fail!! Hahaha. Total of 3.

Unfortunately even with such decent tracking skills the rain has muddied the ground too well to follow any tracks. You are losing time, but maybe there are other ways of determining where the man went. Maybe someone inside knows or perhaps the process of deduction could help. (potential insight check)

Despair looks outside, and also has low-light vision. She has no extra fluff, so thinking about nature makes her cry! She looks through the darkness and hopes to find something amazing..

Edit:
Despair sighs, she sees a few tracks, but not much that will give her hope.

I also make an insight check.

And as Despair walks near a tree, the exposed root makes her trip and almost fall on her face. She makes a bit of a cry, but overall, she is okay.

Owing to the terrible weather conditions tracking this man seems impossible (DC was Hard 21). Perhaps you can figure out where he is headed with an Insight Check. If not there is a chance someone in the tavern may know where the man was headed.

Please note: It took the party 10 minutes to attempt to track.

You note that although the man had said very little he seemed to react to the rumors about Col Fen. You can deduce that it is likely he is headed there. You can also deduce that the same terrain preventing your ability to track also prevents steady progression. It is likely that by either horse or on foot he couldn't have gotten very far. You should be able to catch up with him with some hard advancement within 30 to 45 minutes.

"Alright, Let's get down to business, we need to try to get to Col Fen, and quickly. If we do the the longer that spell will last for us." Despair sighs. "I guess the saying truly is correct: 'there is no rest for the wicked.'" She starts on the path, hoping to get any ground, and also hoping the others will follow in suit.
