"No no no, you are not doing this to me right now. We are not taking turns in dying damnit!" He immediately began CPR but without pressing her chest. Getting her heart to pump was something he could do more efficiently with his power. Larry couldn't be saved with it. But he sure as hell wasn't going to lose Trinity!

"Come on...stick with me".

Trinity's body was still limp despite Theonis efforts. Her heart would refuse to pump and would remain that way until the poison runs it's course.

Upon her neck lies the choker, the one that her ancestor once wore. It some how survived the transformation she had undergone and back. It was around the neck of the demon's form but everyone seemed a bit more focused on her body to notice.

The world around them bent and shifted to a horrific scene. Fire, dead bodies placed on pikes, and a man in a mask laughing maniacally over the fallen body of the first Trinity.

"This is where it started for your lineage." said the demon. Her body changed to reflect her appearance at the time of the memory. She took on the appearance of a pale woman in a black dress with hair that reached the ground. She was not particularly attractive, but it was a sign of the times. A more traditional beauty.

The man in the mask sank into the ground and left the first Trinity broken and alone. "This was the day I committed a grave taboo. I interfered with a mortal I had no pact with."

She looked over to the ancestor standing beside present day Trinity. "She did not know it at the time, but she was tethered by the chains of lineage as well. A Goddess' light. But I feared it would not be enough."

A dark figure arouse from the dancing shadows created by the flames. Though feminine in figure, she lacked any defining features outside of the bright gray eyes that shone from the "face."

The figure knelt beside the nearly catatonic Trinity. The eyes took a shape of pensive concern.

"I knew this would only be the beginning of that man's terror, and that he would stay hidden among the shadows to stay safe from the light. For her to succeed against the man who committed this atrocity, I concluded that she would need the assistance of those very shadows."

The scenery changed and it was one all too familiar to her. Not because she was the one who lived through this first hand but she did live through it through her ancestor's memories. It was a different perspective, because she had seen this scene through her ancestor's eyes.

It was never made clear as to why her ancestor was able to manipulate the darkest shadows and yet cast the purest of light, often called 'holy'. The gift that has been passed down through generations, and awakened in times of need, was a result of this demon's taboo? Yet as much as she wanted to believe what was played out, something troubled her. Could her ancestor remember what happened while she was unconscious? How could she know for certain that this actually happened? She could very well have inserted anything here and she wouldn't be able to tell whether or not it was true.

There was something else she wondered though. "You said she was tethered to the Goddesses' light? How can that be? Based on our family tree she was born to a blacksmith and his wife." A moment after asking that she briefly wondered if that meant hat she and Liv were somehow related but dismissed it as she awaited her answer.

The demon looked back at her host and sighed, "That...is a question I asked myself that very night, but I was unable to ascertain an answer. I had no idea of their connection until I watched these events unfold. When she took hold of that b*****d's arm and burned him with something beyond what most light magic was incapable of at the time."

"And then there was this."

The figure placed a hand gently on the fallen Trinity's shoulder only to be met with a burning light that traveled up her arm, melting away the darkness to reveal a human arm.

The figure snatched her hand away. She examined it curiously before cloaking it in the darkness again. She then looked back down at the first Trinity and muttered
"Your light is strong, but it may not be enough. The darker the shadow, the brighter the light.".

The scene froze in place and admitted to her host, "I would understand if this seems suspect. I have done nothing to earn your trust. But this is your mindscape, and the ancestor standing behind you can peel away lies with her light. It...,is possible that some of my memories have been altered by the madness."

The scene changed again. This time to a temple dedicated to the various Gods and Guardians of the time and region. In front of a statue of the shadow Goddess, Umbra, stood the demon with a glaive in her chest where her heart would be. Holding the glaive was the first Trinity, a look of malicious intent on her face. The blade of the polearm appeared to be fashioned of tempered and polished stone.

"This memory, for example, I feel may be one of the altered ones. This moment drove me to hate Trinity, and was the start of my descent into insanity."

"But earlier, when you losing your power, the hatred melted away. I came to realize that this may not have happened as I remember."

As the demon in the mindscape said the words "The darker the shadow, the brighter the light.". her ancestor whispered in her ear " There may be truth to this. One of the Paladins who found me said I was saying that exact phrase when I was coming to. It took a long time to figure out what it truly meant, that is until I was able to defeat the Necromancer."

As the scene changed and this other memory played out Trinity's ancestor spoke up. Her form shifted from a small glowing body to her clothed normal size. "The paladins were the first to tell me of the profecy that I would bring light to a world of darkness. Yet I was having so much trouble using holy and found it easy to manipulate shadow."

"The paladins said that I needed to pray to the goddess of darkness and shadow, Umbra to find some answers. Like why I was given such a gift if the profecy states that I'm the light in the dark? In some ways I was hoping I would have this gift lifted from me so that I would be able to focus on the light. At the time I thought the crest that was bestowed upon me to weild the shadows was bestowed upon me by mistake. While I was praying and meditating I was interrupted and I was unarmed. I didn't think I needed protection while I was praying."

The memory started to play out. She heard something at the end of the hall. Trinity stood up and asked who was there. Two glowing red eyes approached her with growls and snarls. Trinity backed away at first she felt the staff the statue of Umbra was holding and found that it was a glaive. "Sorry I need to borrow this..." The demon's eyes were beastial and said she wanted to kill. After the struggle it ended with the glaive through the demon's heart. As she was taught by the paladins, she said "Forgive me… may you find peace."

The demon looked confused as she watched the alternate version of the scene play out.

"That...was not why I came. I heard Trinity's prayers, and I came to speak with her in my mother's stead. I meant no harm, and I most certainly did not snarl like some beast."

"And yet, I feel that we may both be right."

She walked around the temple examining the walls, candles, stools, pews. and various other fixtures.

"There are shadows missing. A great number of shadows should be here due to the many candles."

She moved around the scene. First behind herself as she stood impaled by the Titan Terror. She then moved behind Trinity as she mercifully put a monster out of it's misery.

Her lips pursed as she came to understand what happened that night. She looked to the present Trinity, and her mobile ancestor, and stated. "We were deceived. A powerful illusion drove us to attack one another."

"You need not take my word for it. Come take a close look, and see what I see."

"I wouldn't put it pass the Necromancer, he was trying very hard to ensure I didn't get any help." the ancestor spoke as she followed the demon lead her and her descendant from her memory to that of the demon's.

Trinity was keeping an opened mind and even more so when her ancestor was confirming things. She observed that although they were in the same position the memory was very different. The demon looked like a vicious creature on one side and her ancestor had a neutral face. As if she had killed before but did not enjoy it. The other side, the demon's view. The demon looked like she was a victim of a malicious killer.

While the past was presented her mind was a bit worried about Theonis. She hoped that Gidget was able to figure it out and reassure him that she would be okay. She felt she really could use her sensei's advice on this but there was only so much time left before she had to finally decide.

Though based on what she saw she probably would have done the same as her ancestor. There was no way she would have known that she was there to help in confused the same circumstances. Though one thing is for certain she would keep in mind the amount of shadows were in the room when there's a possible illusion at hand. Perhaps not through use of magic these days but a meta power could be capable of doing the same.

"If we synthesis would this mean I would weild the same light my ancestor once did? What will be gained? What will be lost?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 29, 2014 2:54 pm
The demon thought for a moment before answering. "I would be one with you. Her will shall survive, but not her power."

"You will gain access to my memories and power. As for what you will lose...for the moment it will be privacy. But if your heart should slip back into the same darkness you felt only hours ago, than the madness will overcome us both."

"And..." the demon seethed. "it was not the necromancer. For this is what happened immediately after."

Their surroundings shifted again. This time, the scene changed to that of a wooded area not far from the temple. The demon was sitting against a tree, slowly bleeding out. She was in her human form, trembling, and crying.

"I do not understand. Why would she attack me without provocation." she mused alloud. Something she would do when under durress.

Another figure came into view. This one a man who's features didn't seem that far off from the demon's.

"It would seem that you have met your comeuppance, my sister." he said flatly.

The demon looked up at the approaching man and coughed up blood. "Have you come to gloat in my final moments, brother? To chastise me for getting involved with mortal affairs?"

The demon's brother knelt in front of his fallen twin."On the contrary, Sister." he said with a smirk, "I come bearing a gift that will save your life."

Without warning he revealed something that he had been hiding behind his back and shoved it into his sister's open wound. The object was a stone about the size of his fist. It was covered in small pocks and craters, and it was accompanied by a warm glow.

The demon clawed at her chest, writhed on the ground, and howled in pain, but the stone was only going deeper into her chest. It soon closed the wound around itself.

"Brother. this pain! What have you done to me?!" she demanded.

The man chuckled and spread his arms wide. "Why I have given you the power of the stars, dearest sister. It should be interesting to see how it manifests in you." he laughed.

The demon's flesh began to fall off her of bones in clumps. The surrounding shadows drew toward her to replace the melting skin and muscle.

The scene slowed down and stopped before fading away to where the demon and the two Trinity's had started. The demon appeared now as her shade self; the dark feminine figure with the glowing silver eyes.

"I...I am sorry, but I cannot relive that moment again."

Theonis knew something was off. She wasn't injured, her heart was pumping because of his power alone. Oxygen was also provided as he had begun to use his power on her lungs as well. She should be awake by now and her heart should pump on it's own. But it wasn't. Something was very wrong.

"Is she...."

"Not if I can help it." Theo replied quickly."Ako! Somethings wrong! Her heart won't start on it's own. Gidget! Please tell me you know something about it. I can't....I can't lose her." He pleaded.

Gidget tried her best to watch what happened with the demon, but her eyes were still reeling from the flash bang grenade from earlier. Then Theonis called out.

"Something happened to Trinity. Ako, please help me over to them." she plead.

Once they were over, Gidget was able to get a better look at Trinity. A very naked and dead looking Trinity.

"What the Hell happened to her?"

"She...became something else. Like a succubus or something. Purple skin, tail and wings and all. Then she just...collapses. Saying it's not over yet. I've been pumping her heart and lungs manually now because she isn't doing it on her own. She wanted me to call Teshoumaru but he ain't picking up."

The thought processes in Gidget's brain ran at a hundred miles per hour.

Transformation. Sudden collapse. Asking for her teacher. She had the poison. Teacher knows about the poison. Teacher also knows about the demon that may have caused the transformation.

"We just need to get her to the med bay. If I'm right, she took a poison that would make her heart stop for three hours. We just need to look after her and make sure that the demon she was talking about doesn't make it out of here."

Trinity nodded, she could understand why the demon did not want to continue with the rest of that memory. Her ancestor did the same and found it hard to believe that a brother would do such a thing.

Part of Trinity wanted to learn more about the rock that was simply shoved into her chest but she thought that would be a question for another day. What she really could use was some advice from her senseis. If she can't get advice from the present, perhaps she could learn from their past. "One thing I have been wondering and my senseis did not go into detail why did they become hosts to you and your brother? What led them to make such a decision?"

"Wait what? So she took a poison that would stop her freaking heart?! Just a few minutes without oxygen causes brain damage! Goddamnit Trinity!" Theonis cursed. He took off his shirt to cover her a bit and then picked her up in his arms.

"Now we just gotta get past the raging dragon that is Heather. I couldn't save Larry. Chuck got barbequed by Heather in her new dragon form. s**t, can't get through a single week in this place without something ******** s**t up." Theonis cursed again. Valhalla seriously needed to change.

"Decision? When I found Freya she was nearly dead and adrift in the shadow realm. Her weakened state allowed me to inhabit her body with little difficulty."

"I do know that she did not appear as she normally does. She appeared nearly human, save for the ears your race shares."

"You can relax. The poison puts her in a false death. It's like suspended animation. She planned to use it to fool Chu-"

She heard the roaring outside followed by a burst of flame. "Wait a minute. That's Heather?!"

She hung her head at the shear madness of the situation.
