Theo almost laughed

"Ayup. And I am not sure if she is pleased to see me because I couldn't save Larry. Hell she might even go berserk if she smells Larry's blood on me which btw...is still a lot." He sighed." I need a vacation after this." As mumbled as he continued to carry Trinity and made his way to the next room where Heather was.

"Yeah sure, I'm fine btw, thanks for asking." Liv shouted at them as they left the room. Ungrateful little....

Kerana continued to plead the troops to let her through and not shoot Heather.
"Please! Just let me talk to her! I know you're trying to protect Valhalla but she too is part of it!"

One of the men reported the situation to their superior, "General... We have a situation... please tell us how should we proceed. The girl claims she can help."

Trinity wasn't expecting that of Freya. "And what of Teshomaru? Was he on the brink of death as well?"

Gidget scrunched her face in anger and asked, "Ako, could you please turn me toward Liv?"

After he complied, she pointed her stump at the blonde. "Don't think I've forgotten about you!" she asserted.

"It was awfully coincidental that Trinity had her powers drained by you just before Richards decided to pull off this bullshit coup. Mark my words, b***h, you're going to wish you'd burned along side your boss by the time I'm done wrenching the answers out of that underdeveloped organ you call a brain."

Heather spotted the loud fox thing in the crowd. It rang something familiar in her mind. Her threatening posture became one of caution as she watched the furry red head argue the dragon's case.

The commander on the other end of the radio keyed the mic. "Let her try. If the dragon really is Heather Reynolds from the Matron house, we need to try and bring her in alive."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The demon nodded. "Yes he was. As to how the two of them ended up like that...well...I suggest you speak with Freya about that."
"Now that you know a bit more about the being I was, are you any closer to making a decision?"
she asked.
"And this is the moment that I regret ever coming to this place! Ask prettyboy over there or her so called sensei! Trinity would have died without me. Twice now. And that burned pathetic excuse of a man is nobody I'd work for. You think I'd work for someone like that? Someone who has done nothing but ******** up every single thing he did? For someone who claims to be as smart as you, where were you during all of this? Why didn't you and your great intellect see this coming huh? And you know what? ******** you. I was going to heal that ******** stump of yours but I've changed my mind." Liv spat back and left the room with a brilliant blinding flash of light
"Really?! Now?" Theo almost shouted back.
she asked.
"Yes, as much as I want to just go with it… the memories you've shared with me just now. One is where my ancestor is unconcious and although she pointed out she shared some of the words you mumbled... I feel she really had no way to really confirm or deny it happened the way you say it did. Then the memory you just shared was an illusion concocted by your brother. You've yet to show me something solid and I feel I really need to talk to my senseis about all of this."
"How do I know you are just using these convenient moments to portray yourself as a selfless victim? I do not mean to upset you. I don't see enough proof that this is not a trick to get you what you want, regardless of the consiquence."
"I haven't had a chance to speak with them since this whole thing started by me hosting you. I couldn't help but feel that Teshomaru thought I was fooled into having started this endeavor and I just don't want to make things worse. If you're asking me what my decision is right now. It's no."
Heather spotted the loud fox thing in the crowd. It rang something familiar in her mind. Her threatening posture became one of caution as she watched the furry red head argue the dragon's case.
The commander on the other end of the radio keyed the mic. "Let her try. If the dragon really is Heather Reynolds from the Matron house, we need to try and bring her in alive."
"Thank goodness" she whispered to herself. "Deora! Come on! We've got to save Heather!"
The soldiers aloud the fox girl and her friend to pass. A path was cleared for her by all the soldiers that were there leaving a temporary wake as she passed through.
Kerana took a deep breath and called out to the dragon, "Heather, I know your hurting. We miss him too." A tear streaked down her cheek. "Larry died to protect his home. Don't tarnish his memory by destroying the very same home he tried to protect. Please Heather I'm here for you." She reached up toward her, "Try to calm the beast down… don't let it consume you. Don't get lost in its wild rage, I know you're still in there please hear me. I don't want to loose another friend today. Please Heather." She hoped she said the right thing, she more hoped that she wouldn't unleash more fire upon her.
Deora followed a step behind Kerana, suddenly wishing she'd gotten to know Heather a little better. She knew practically nothing about the girl, dragon, in front of her. She didn't think there was anything she could say to remind the dragon that she was a friend.
As she brushed aside a loose strand of her violet hair, she noticed a strange feeling on her fingertips. Stuck to her fingers by nervous sweat were bits of burnt hair, a reminder of her last fight, and a reminder of how this one might turn out. Remembering her duty, she focused on her power, feeling out the water around them. The pipes supplying fresh water to the drinking fountains, sprinklers and other utilities dedicated to the arena. She could feel their flows, and the effect through her power was almost calming. It reminded her that she wasn't completely defenseless, she had at least one trick left up her sleeve. With a deep breath that brought the heavy scents of charred flesh and ashes, she steadied her nerves, and prepared herself for a fight she hoped with all her heart would not happen.
As Kerana spoke with the dragon, Deora couldn't help but notice the tears flowing from her friend. She thought of taking control of them to wipe them away, but she thought better of it. It was best that she stay in the background, unnoticed should Kerana's words fall on deaf ears.
Gidget managed to keep a straight face while being yelled at. When Liv left she finally let out a little smirk that was audible in her speech.
"Yea. Now. I just confirmed that she knew Chuck Richard's well enough to know his history with this place."
She looked up toward the doorway Larry had renovated and suggested, "Maybe we should go out another way? There's an emergency exit down the right isle."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The dragon studied the fox girl as she spoke. Heather could understand every word that she said. She leaned in closer to inspect Kerana. That was when Kerana's hand came into contact with Heather's massive snout.

A flood of memories hit her all at once. The beast faded from her mind, and the young woman was in control again. Her jade eyes softened as she looked around. Heather was confused. Everyone around her was so small. Then she saw the body of her brother underneath the frame of a beast. The body went up to Heather's point of view. She was the beast.

Her eyes began to water. She huffed as the tears began to fall. The crying was accompanied by small puffs of flames that dissipated before igniting anything. That's when the steam shot out of her back spines like a tea kettle.

The steam was boiling hot, and it wouldn't take more than a few seconds for it to wrap around and burn anyone around her.

The shade's eyes looked forlorn and defeated. "As much as it pains me, I understand. You did not ask for this. I am sorry that had to happen, I truly am."

She took a few steps closer to Trinity. They were slow and not threatening steps. She then took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.

"Yet, I have not been completely honest. There is another way for you to avoid succumbing to the madness, but it is vastly more dangerous. I was hesitant to tell you because I knew you would choose the dangerous route."

"It involves me giving up any semblance of control in regards to the form you see in front of you. The only reason the demon has not attacked is because your physical body is, for all intents and purposes, dead. The shock of the death weakened my powers, and it has allowed me to stay lucid."

"If I give up control what you see before you will be no more, and the demon will take over. When it does, it will attack you and your ancestor with intent to kill what is left until only it remains."

"But if you can destroy it in this mindscape, then we will be free for as long as you live."

She dropped to her hands and knees at Trinity's feet. Her voice trembled as she spoke.

"But I beseech you, do not take the dangerous path. Tell me what I can do, what I can say, that will convince you to accept your lineage and allow your ancestor's light to keep us sane. Please do not allow the madness to take me, to take us, again."

Man! That's third time today I get pushed into making a life changing decision! Trinity exhaled as the demon begged that she would take her route. "I'm sorry, but as of right now, you will do or say anything just so I will take your route. I need facts and I'm not getting any from you right now. There's nothing you can say or do that will make me change my mind right now."

She knelt down to look into the demon's eyes, "Just tell me one thing... for now ... in order to keep the madness at bay..." She looked toward her ancestor and said, "I must not fall off the path. Right?"

"Yeah alright, I'd rather not face Heather right now bu-" He cut himself off as he focused on his hearing. Did he hear that correctly? Was...was that freaking foxgirl there?!

"God...damnit...Kerana is there as well...I think she's trying to calm down Heather. She's gonna end up as charcoal if she doesn't get out of there." He almost cursed again upon facing this new dilemma. Go the safe route with Gidget and Trinity. Or the more dangerous path, still with Trinity and Gidget but also to try and make sure Kerana doesn't become a fox steak.

The shade's eyes lit up with hope as she nodded. "That is correct. So long as you stay the course you were meant for, her light will protect us. Should you falter as you did in the light prison, we will be lost."

"You need only embrace her, and I will be free of the madness. The shadows will be yours to command again, as will I."

Kerana gasped as the snout of the beast made contact with her hand. Then felt relieved as her eyes softened. She was getting through to the young woman she cared about. Kerana needed to get close to her, but as she turned away to look to where Larry laid, the steam prevented her from going near her. "YAWTCH! That steam really hurts!" Instead of getting close to her she merely followed at a distance. "We're here for you Heather."

As Soon as she 'felt' the steam start to pour out, Deora raised her hands to manage it. She did her best to seem non-threatening, but from what she could tell, she knew she had to keep this steam at bay, and to do that she had to use her hands to control her power. Cautiously she held her hands at around mid-torso level, moving them to try and keep a hold on the steam, while at the same time slowly shifting her right foot a half-step back and to the side for balance. She ended up standing in a sort of fighting stance, but ti was obvious her focus wasn't on the dragon.

The cloud was more air than water at first, and was hard to control. A few times, Deora felt like she was just holding her hands out in front of herself like an idiot, but soon after Kerana got a taste of the cloud's temperature, it thickened enough for Deora to get a manageable hold on it. Her invisible wall still seemed to wobble and shift as the cloud flowed out behind the dragon, changing the humidity she had to work with, but it held now.

She took a second to marvel at the visual she'd created; the giant dragon laying in a thick cloud of steam, with Kerana and herself standing only a foot or so away in clear air. A bit of her confident half-smile returned as she told Kerana; "I've got the steam for now. Just don't try to cross into it. I don't know what will happen if something crosses my little wall."

Heather withdrew into the massive cloud of steam. For a few seconds she could not be seen. It wasn't until the thick cloud dissipated. Heather was back in her dragoness form and laying atop her brother. She had shielded him from the steam with her wings.

She lifted her head slightly and cracked open her eyes. Without looking at anyone in particular she mouthed something that would be difficult to lip read due to her snout.

Her eyes fluttered, and her head dropped back onto Larry's body. The security team siezed the opportunity and apprehended her. She did not struggle. She simply let them bind and muzzle her.

One of the SO's turned to Kerana and Deora with a satisfied sigh. "Job well done, girls. We'll take it from here."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gidget saw the large collection of steam before a moment of silence. She sighed in relief. "It looks like Kerana did it. I don't know why I ever doubt her. Can we please go to the med bay now?"
