Deora followed a step behind Kerana, suddenly wishing she'd gotten to know Heather a little better. She knew practically nothing about the girl, dragon, in front of her. She didn't think there was anything she could say to remind the dragon that she was a friend.
As she brushed aside a loose strand of her violet hair, she noticed a strange feeling on her fingertips. Stuck to her fingers by nervous sweat were bits of burnt hair, a reminder of her last fight, and a reminder of how this one might turn out. Remembering her duty, she focused on her power, feeling out the water around them. The pipes supplying fresh water to the drinking fountains, sprinklers and other utilities dedicated to the arena. She could feel their flows, and the effect through her power was almost calming. It reminded her that she wasn't completely defenseless, she had at least one trick left up her sleeve. With a deep breath that brought the heavy scents of charred flesh and ashes, she steadied her nerves, and prepared herself for a fight she hoped with all her heart would not happen.
As Kerana spoke with the dragon, Deora couldn't help but notice the tears flowing from her friend. She thought of taking control of them to wipe them away, but she thought better of it. It was best that she stay in the background, unnoticed should Kerana's words fall on deaf ears.

Gidget managed to keep a straight face while being yelled at. When Liv left she finally let out a little smirk that was audible in her speech.
"Yea. Now. I just confirmed that she knew Chuck Richard's well enough to know his history with this place."
She looked up toward the doorway Larry had renovated and suggested, "Maybe we should go out another way? There's an emergency exit down the right isle."

The dragon studied the fox girl as she spoke. Heather could understand every word that she said. She leaned in closer to inspect Kerana. That was when Kerana's hand came into contact with Heather's massive snout.
A flood of memories hit her all at once. The beast faded from her mind, and the young woman was in control again. Her jade eyes softened as she looked around. Heather was confused. Everyone around her was so small. Then she saw the body of her brother underneath the frame of a beast. The body went up to Heather's point of view. She was the beast.
Her eyes began to water. She huffed as the tears began to fall. The crying was accompanied by small puffs of flames that dissipated before igniting anything. That's when the steam shot out of her back spines like a tea kettle.
The steam was boiling hot, and it wouldn't take more than a few seconds for it to wrap around and burn anyone around her.

The shade's eyes looked forlorn and defeated. "As much as it pains me, I understand. You did not ask for this. I am sorry that had to happen, I truly am."
She took a few steps closer to Trinity. They were slow and not threatening steps. She then took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.
"Yet, I have not been completely honest. There is another way for you to avoid succumbing to the madness, but it is vastly more dangerous. I was hesitant to tell you because I knew you would choose the dangerous route."
"It involves me giving up any semblance of control in regards to the form you see in front of you. The only reason the demon has not attacked is because your physical body is, for all intents and purposes, dead. The shock of the death weakened my powers, and it has allowed me to stay lucid."
"If I give up control what you see before you will be no more, and the demon will take over. When it does, it will attack you and your ancestor with intent to kill what is left until only it remains."
"But if you can destroy it in this mindscape, then we will be free for as long as you live."
She dropped to her hands and knees at Trinity's feet. Her voice trembled as she spoke.
"But I beseech you, do not take the dangerous path. Tell me what I can do, what I can say, that will convince you to accept your lineage and allow your ancestor's light to keep us sane. Please do not allow the madness to take me, to take us, again."

As Soon as she 'felt' the steam start to pour out, Deora raised her hands to manage it. She did her best to seem non-threatening, but from what she could tell, she knew she had to keep this steam at bay, and to do that she had to use her hands to control her power. Cautiously she held her hands at around mid-torso level, moving them to try and keep a hold on the steam, while at the same time slowly shifting her right foot a half-step back and to the side for balance. She ended up standing in a sort of fighting stance, but ti was obvious her focus wasn't on the dragon.
The cloud was more air than water at first, and was hard to control. A few times, Deora felt like she was just holding her hands out in front of herself like an idiot, but soon after Kerana got a taste of the cloud's temperature, it thickened enough for Deora to get a manageable hold on it. Her invisible wall still seemed to wobble and shift as the cloud flowed out behind the dragon, changing the humidity she had to work with, but it held now.
She took a second to marvel at the visual she'd created; the giant dragon laying in a thick cloud of steam, with Kerana and herself standing only a foot or so away in clear air. A bit of her confident half-smile returned as she told Kerana; "I've got the steam for now. Just don't try to cross into it. I don't know what will happen if something crosses my little wall."
