I am good at getting things done quickly. Not always on time, but quickly. XD
Unless it's writing. I'm pretty awful about actually writing stuff down.

haha Same here, except for writing things down. My ideas take on lives of their own until I do something with them. Its like someone constantly poking me and saying "hey... heeeey... HEY!! LOOK AT ME!!" They just don't go away. I annoy myself in a way burning_eyes

My ideas are kind of like, 'Oh, that's nice. I'll get to that eventually.' XD

You said you liked fantasy/sci fi. Exactly what kind? You can define 'kind' by whatever you like. =3

In fantasy I like magic, but not magic that has no reprocussions for using it. Stories like that turn the characters into over powered brutes. Same goes for sci-fi technology.

In both I like the cretures most though. Someone who can make a believable alien race out of nothing has talent. In fantasy more resently though everything seems to be filled with tons of dragons and other creatures that have been seen dozens of times. Its kind of sad with so many mythilogical creatures to choose from and no boundries as to what you can dream up why would someone stick with something that has been seen hundreds so many times?

I suppose I'm leaning moreto sci-fi now, but I still like fantasy even if the mythological creatures are a little over used. Its how the author uses them in the story and how the story is written that matters most after all.

I'm not sure if any of that answered your question though XD

It was kind of an open question anyway. XD

Yeah, it sure is a shame to have the 'basic' fantasy sink in there, unless it's done particularly well. These days its usually best to gently parody these things. I myself only have magic and dragons, though they are bird-like dragons that can't actually fly. XD I like dragons too much to leave them out!

Boring invincible hero is usually something that can be overcome after a while of thinking through a character, unless it's well done. Really, well done is about the only thing that works, since nothing is original. XD I was just reading the Belgariad for the first time (I just finished it) and it's about the most cliche thing EVER. It was pretty obvious the lengths the author went to to stop things being too powerful. I don't think it worked. I really like cliches though, because it's a challenge to work with them, make them do good things, and be fresh. I really enjoy that.

I honestly don't read much sci-fi as of right now. 8u I prefer steampunk and fantasy. I'm just now getting into it, but I think it will be a little later until I get passed my fantasy writing.

If it helps any, Anne McCaffery is one of my favorite writers and she somehow mixed sci-fi and fantasy in her Dragon Riders of Pern series and it was fantastic. There was another pure fantasy series where women were pulled into an alternet world which had winged horses that could talk to people telepathicly, but I forgot the series name and the author's name crying I bet the series has more books now and I can't even look them up to find which ones I need to read. So sad...

Anne McCaffery is on my list, but I don't think I'll read it for a while. 8u It's sad when you can't remember a book. I'm certain there are some great books I read that I can't remember!

Cliches are okay I suppose, it just depends how you use them. I don't really get along with certain scenes though. For example you get to this really emotional climactic moment where secrets are being spilled and theres a lull in the story line as if everyone in that scene is in shock, then something pops out of no where and attacks the characters or someone comes running in and theres an emergency that can't wait. Kinda makes everything feel like the author hit a stump and didn't know what to do so they interrupted the moment. Though it can be done well, it doesn't have to be done.

I've also written my fair share of dragons (my wall is full of pictures and small statues of the things so I do like them too), but I try to make them a little different from the normal. One I put into a story was about as big as a medium sized dog and it ate fruit, it also had wigs but instead of flying it could only glide so it had to do from a good height to be able to go far, it was also an over weight pet of someone's so when it does try to glide it falls like a rock rofl I made it prey instead of preditor, but it kept its fire breathing as a deffense mechenisim. Larger dragons that had bat like wings were the smaller one's preditors. The bigger ones I made about the size of a house.

EDIT: Must fix typos...

So I've been student teaching for 3 weeks.

It's...pretty crazy. I'm finally getting into the swing of things but still feel pretty overwhelmed. Spent like 3 hours today grading...and that was like half of what I actually had to do!

It's safe to say I have no time for writing at the moment. sad

I used to have problems doing home work, then I figured out how to do it and not get bogged down: take a break. Basicaly start your work and when you get tired or overwhelmed, stop and take a few minutes to do something else, then come back to it. It kinda helped me :]

If thats not your sort of thing to do, then I hope it gets better. Teaching is a very important thing. Kudos for doing such a hard job too.

You know... this guild was started over 5 years ago. August 13th, 2006. I still remember what it felt like then getting the invite and being one of the first members.

I imagine it being something like getting into Hogwarts.
