Damien's sudden stop and Kerana's searching ears sent the hairs on the back of Deora's neck standing up. Her left hand went to her belt to rest on the water flask there, while the other crossed her stomach to hover above it, ready to draw the liquid out. As the wall collapsed her thumb popped the lid, but she stayed her other hand. She didn't know who this person was yet, or what approach to take. Maybe they were friendly.

When the dust cleared and revealed a young man in a jump suit and mask, her hopes of a friend faltered. Her right hand now smoothly drew the water out of the flask and solidified it into a icy shank. She tried to move slowly and smoothly, so as not to trigger an attack, and while she was proud of herself for remembering how to manipulate the water to such a degree while under pressure, she stayed focused on the Slipknot reject standing before them.

The icicle shank was the best she could do with the 8oz of water the flask held, but it was still just a shank, She could try to break out the water still in some of the building's pipes, but she wasn't sure she could break the concrete walls as easily as this guy had.

One of the soldiers on lookout spotted Trinity and Ako. He got on the radio and warned the others about the approaching threat. They leaned against the wall and activated a sort of adaptive camouflage that made them virtually invisible to anyone that wasn't looking too carefully. They waited for the moment to ambush two high threat targets.

Ako stopped as he noticed something. It was as if a single pixel on a screen had gone dark, but in reverse. He'd noticed a change, but couldn't immediately spot what or where. In the hazy jumble that was his electrical sense, he'd just felt something light up. It was faint, and if it weren't for the lack of electricity in the building before them, he might have missed it. "Trinity." He spoke, trying to stop her.

He focused through his currently diminished mental fog, trying to pick out whatever just powered up. He used to be able to pick radio transmissions out of the air, to follow the paths on a circuit board inside a computer, and interrupt each at will. Now it was a struggle to see the outlines of the men in front of him in the glow of their electronic camouflage.

"There's a group ahead. I can't make out how many, but they've got adaptive camouflage."

Trinity's focus was on her phone and finding the three to bring back to Valhalla. She suddenly noticed a dramatic jump in the amount of shadows she was sensing that were around yet from a quick glance from time to time she wasn't seeing where these were coming from.

This could only mean only one thing camouflage. Although it did not completely conceal them from her the camouflage was pretty effective. It did reduce their shadows to just what's under their shoes, which meant detecting them from a distance was difficult. Just as difficult as it would be in the Golden Hour.

As Ako whispered her name she looked to Ako with an expression that said 's**t is going to go down'. She did not to make it too obvious for those that are watching. She looked straight ahead as he made his observation and then whispered, "I know."

"It's always a mystery isn't it? What powers you get from the meteor. Or Hell Star shards, or whatever the hell we call em now. Whatever happened to normal radiation from the meteors. No Ancient monsters or worlds. Can we go back to that? This feels too much out of my league." Theo sighed

He looked back at Thea. "She did exhaust herself. But that aside, I'm sorry but I need to ask. Are you...by any chance..pregnant?"

Gidget gave a little squeaky gasp at the question. If he knew, did Trinity know? Or was it something else? Her mind, for whatever reason, went to the most ridiculous conclusion.

"How-how did you know? Oh no, it's happening already. Only a month in and I'm already getting fat!" she cried.

Legio gave a small smile and nod at 'Dusk's comment on his response.

"I do hope you'll find my responses up to par. It is as you said. I am after all, only a month old."

"I could start with humankind's greatest question. Why? Why do you seem familiar? Why are you not feel like the others? Why do you kill or order death on such grand scale? Why create these girls? Why are you not giving your real name?" Legio asked, stating the numerous questions he had.

" But perhaps I should begin with, what are you?"

Eclipse hummed thoughtfully, "Mmm, now that is a loaded question. So many honest and varied ways to answer, but I think I'll go with the most direct and simple. I am one of the last of a race that is responsible for the progression of humanity. We went nameless for a long time, until we were all that was left. We called ourselves the Primantiqua."

"I feel familiar to you, because we gifted our essence among the creatures of this world. Only those as sensitive as you realize this while in our presence though."

Theo couldn't help but chuckle a bit when he saw her response.

"No no no, nothing like that. It's when you said that's what you would have wanted if it was your kid. You then put your hand on your belly while looking...motherly I suppose. That's all. I had a hunch so I had to ask."

"But that aside, congratulations Gidget. I'm happy for you." Theo said with a smile.

Legio listened attentively. It certainly was interesting and challenge what he had known about the natural course of humanity's evolution. But it didn't feel like a lie.

"I see. Thank you. So there are two more of your kind if I felt that correctly. Trinity Smith felt similar. Or rather, something inside of her. And Charles Ray felt similar." Legio summarized.

"But what is my connection to it. It feels deeper than that."

Kerana

Kerana's tail stopped fiddling, became still and lowered. Her ears went up as she heard the foot falls trying to pin point the exact location of where these foot falls were coming from. She looked straight at the wall as it started to crumble. Then her ears lowered again and her tail wrapped out around her stomach. The fox girl noticed that he seemed to look at her differently she backed away. "W-what do you want?" she could guess that the answer would only be bad. Hopefully this would buy some time to figure something out or to reason with him.

The boy in the mask took a few steps closer and craned his neck in an attempt to get a closer look at Kerana.

"Are you Mother? You look like Mother." he asked.

cat_eek "What!? What did you say???" Kerana's ears twitched up. "How?... How can that be? I've never even slept with a boy... how can I be your..." she gulped a moment. "...mother?"

The soldiers that were watching Ako and Trinity were just about to strike when an order came up on the HUD of their visors.

Tango: Smith, Trinity is to be taken alive. Executive order. Tango: Riosu, Ako expendable. Crossfire is to be avoided. CQC mandated.

Several of the soldiers swore internally as the ones behind the duo began to sneak up on them. Two soldiers in particular lined up behind them, the butt of their rifles slowly raising. When they thought they had the right moment, they drove their rifles down on their targets.

Gidget sighed and smiled. She blushed a little at his comment about being motherly.

"Yeah, I'm pretty attached to this little bean already. Thank you, but could you please not tell Trinity. I want to do that myself."

Rapid footfalls echoed down the hallway just before Freya screeched into the lab.

"Hey, have you guys seen my niece? I tracked her scent here and awwww man!" she moaned once her eyes lay on Rydia. "Damn Gidget, I know she was mad but you didn't have to kill her."

Gidget huffed and retorted, "She's not dead, Freya, I just put her to sleep. She'll be up and angry again in a few minutes."

Freya sighed with relief and knelt next to her sleeping niece. "That's good. When she saw what happened on the TV she lost her s**t. She thinks the whole attack on the island was orchestrated by Valhalla. I know better, though."

She looked up at Theonis and said, "I know you did your best. The thing that my brother has become is a vicious a*****e. There was nothing you could have done."

"You, are something that wasn't supposed to happen yet."

Eclipse stood up from his chair and looked out toward the city.

"They have no idea. No idea that the shadows these buildings cast, that follow them as they walk, that wax and wane as the day passes acts as part of a barrier between the this world...and theirs."

"That connection you feel, is to the thing you came from, and the thing that is just like it on the other side of the barrier."

He spun on his heels and faced the being, his face partially obscured by the contrasting light behind him. "The power that Shane Morris developed was unseen by all but me and mine. I could feel the malice, the desire to feed and grow. It was all to familiar. But even I had no idea he would become Legion after consuming the escaped metas, Alexavier and Cassandra."

"I just...had to see where it went. But then Ray interfered and ruined the whole thing, along with those 'heroes' from Valhalla. But then something else happened."

He put his hand on the desk and looked down at Legio.

"Shane was reborn as that kid. And you, the collective singular mind born from what had to be hundreds of thousands of people, became your own being. That many minds creates own hell of an output. That is why you feel a connection to me and mine. Because the you that is on the other side of the shadows is the collective unconscious of the Primantiqua."

"Wasn't planning to. The two of you are almost sisters. Ain't getting between that. Hell hath no fury and all."Theo replied.

Then Freya happened and the short skit that occurred.

"I know...just doesn't feel like it. I basically made them easy flying targets. But going out there right now will only add fuel to the fire as I am sure Daedelus is already on site." Theo responded." But thanks"

" I find it ironic that I, the spawn of a beast of unlimited hunger, don't feel that same need." Legio spoke. Dusk's action of looking down on him was not unnoticed. Looking down on someone makes you feel more powerful and intimidating. Legio knew but did not speak of it.

"The collective consumed unconscious of your people. If I understand it correctly, you wish to free them. Unleash them into this world. Why?"
