The Count of Monte Carlo

With a flash and a boom, three soldiers were down, and Ako knew he couldn't hope to get that lucky again. He glanced around the dumpster to see Trinity disarm the others before dropping into her own shadow. Okay, that just left him alone with a group of soldiers suddenly without ranged weapons. Unless they had sidearms, the odds were now in his favor. He boldly stepped out from his cover to fire a duo of lightning bolts at the remaining soldiers, one bolt from each hand. A voice at the back of his head reminded him not to get cocky, but he had this. He'd taken on more thugs in his wandering years. He could take these guys.

The lightning easily arched from one trooper to another since they were ill prepared to deal with a lightning meta. The remaining soldiers tried in vain to maintain their aim, but the explosion and sparks made it impossible.

However, it didn't take long for reinforcements to arrive with riot shields. The tempered glass didn't conduct the lightning, and they steadily made their approach with batons at the ready.

Deora_Alvarez

For some reason, the act of the boy looking into her eyes unnerved Deora. Perhaps it was because she knew he could really look into them. He could see what was behind them, and would probably know her answer before she herself did.

She didn't like the idea of spontaneously being granted her full potential. It felt like cheating. Her parents taught her that all good things in life were earned. Skill at Soccer only came through practice. Good grades only came through studying. She has practiced everyday, and studied every night until she fell asleep. In the end, she felt that she had truly earned every trophy, and every B or A. The hard work made that sense of accomplishment feel better. To be given something like that as a gift just felt... wrong.

But this was a completely different situation. It wasn't for a cheap trophy, or letters on a paper, it was her friends' lives. There was no time to train, or learn. Now was the perfect time for a cheat code.

She closed her eyes and took a breath. When she opened her eyes again, their determined look could have turned their watery blue to ice. She nodded to Damien.

"Do it."

Without a moments hesitation, Damien reached out and took hold of Deoras wrist. There was a strange sensation as his hand physically became one with her arm. Her source was easy to find after the numerous awakenings he had performed, but there was something different about this.

Deora's connection to her source was immense.

The air around them began to waver, chill, vaporize, and swirl. Damien could feel his own internal fluids fluctuate.

A wavering visage began to take shape behind Damien. It was vaguely humanoid, and the voice suggested it was male.

"Fear not, child. I am only visible to you, and I mean no harm. I am the lingering spirit of Rheum, aspect of Water's Adaptation. You now possess the power to do anything you want to the water around you. The water in a drink, the atmosphere, even blood can be heated, cooled, or moved at your whim."

"Something is coming. Something that threatens all life on this planet and beyond. You are now prepared to do your part in the coming fight."

The visage dissipated and Damien let go of Deora. He was looking at her with dumbfounded shock. Her awakening was only the third to feel similar to that. The other two were Heather and Theonis. But there was something different. He could almost sense a fourth person in the room with them.

After taking a second to collect himself he looked to Deora and said, "Show him what you can do."

Theonis was silent as Digit explained what happened on their side. He wanted more details because if they failed to stop Legion does that mean that he died over there? That was one thing that worried him but another was that the Decaelum arrived in their time. He could only surmise that was the case.

"That...sounds like the Decaelum. The ones Eclipse is trying to free over here. It's a long origin story that can wait. How many of you are left? This place is not the safest right now but I'll see what I can do. " Theo responded. There's no way he could let them die knowing he could save them. There's been a great lack of saving people since all of this started and he'd like to turn that around.

"Send a few people over. We could say it's safe but if they really only know war then they'd need to see it for themselves."

Digit paused again, as though she were hesitant to say the number.

"Ten. One toddler, two children, five teenagers, and two young adults."

"I will send over one of the older ones. Stand by."

Rydia finally chimed in by asking Theonis, "You barely seem phased by what it's saying. Are you accustomed to this sort of thing?"

Without the invulnerability of Cassandra he could be damaged. But his body was not ordinary. Far from it. Biomass had hardened to absorb the impact. Despite not having a heart he felt it pound. It trembled. This was exciting. Hair and eyes shifted to green. Legio paid no heed to the destruction of the environment. Only this woman who had locked eyes with.

"You are already much better than those cloned dolls he takes such pride in." The fist that connected with Freya coursed with lightning that he would send through her.

Freya cried out in surprise and pain as the lightning coursed through her body and sent her flying backwards. She skipped and skid in a manner similar to Legio and stopped when she hit the same block that had stopped her before.

Her body twitched a few times before she got it back under control. She got onto her hands and knees, coughed out smoke, and defiantly stood again. She ripped the covering off of her mouth and grinned.

"Izzat all you got?" she taunted.

Eclipse whistled and clapped at the spectacle, but he slowed down when he noticed something different about Freya. There were light wrinkles at the corners of her mouth, and the slightest hint of grey in the fur of her ears and tail.

"Did she get...old?" he wondered aloud.

Theo was a bit shocked by the number. Only ten people remained? Was it really that bad? He nodded at the projection before turning his attention to Rydia.

"No, I've learned to stop trying to make sense of things. And I may seem calm but I've got about 6 to 10 scenario's in my head right now. I'm just too busy to look distressed." Theo replied with a weak laugh."It's just going to be one of those days again."

A gold aura shifted to silver and then vanished around him.

"No, there is a lot more. But I was lead to believe there was a lot more to you. Especially after that sealing technique. Come! Teach me something new." Legio responded with his arms open wide. Literally inviting her to attack.

From the portal stepped a diminutive young woman of Persian descent. Her dark skin was starkly contrasted by the nearly white blonde locks that just barely brushed her shoulders. She was filthy, but through all the dirt pierced the steely gaze of someone that had been through it all. Her bright red eyes darted around her immediate area before settling on Theonis.

"You're Theonis?" she asked incredulously with a light middle eastern accent. "The way everyone talks about you I thought you'd be seven feet tall and stacked."

Cassandra stopped when Thea asked her about the people. Thea seemed afraid of it. She didn't want to make her feel bad.

"Yes, but we can also order something from my place. So you don't have to go to them. The food will come to you."

Theo examined the woman that stepped out of the tear. He wasn't sure what he was expecting. Hygiene was apparently something he was expecting. It just came to show how bad they had it.

"Well, sorry to disappoint. But yes, I am Theonis. And you are? I could try to assure you that this place is safe but..."Theo stopped himself." Our sky should look normal. I've heard something is up there in your world." Theo said, stepping aside so she could have a clear path to the door and windows.

"No, there is a lot more. But I was lead to believe there was a lot more to you. Especially after that sealing technique. Come! Teach me something new." Legio responded with his arms open wide. Literally inviting her to attack.

"Well then, I guess I should tell you that you're going to need about another two hundred years to get a handle on that power you just copied from me"

"Or, failing that, live two hundred lifetimes."
she growled.

She crouched down into a faux runners starting position and grit her teeth. In the blink of an eye she was gone. In another blink she had delivered a blow to Legio's left kidney. The moment that impact was delivered, there was another to his upper thigh, and then the solar plexus, then the bottom of the jaw, then the center of his chest, then his neck.

There were instantaneous blurs appearing and disappearing all around Legio, creating the illusion of dozens of Freya's punching him at every tender area she could attempt to get to.

Her final blow came from the front. She had dropped into a deep stance and circled her hands beside her, unleashed the golden aura without pounding her fists, focused the aura directly into her hand, and then released it in a double fisted strike to Legio's stomach and chest while saying, "Step one: The Fury Centered."

The aura exploded from her fists in bright flashes, sounding like twin cannons.

Now Legio understood. Freya had used the same hibernation training that she and Teshoumaru had put Trinity through, but to a much more extreme degree. But how?

He and the girls raised their hands in response to the blowback caused by the final strike, which caused an eighth of the cube world to break off and fly into the void.

Thea nodded and relaxed. "I'd like that. Bad things happen when there are a lot of people around me. The bad girl doesn't like it when there are a lot of people around us. So people get hurt."

She looked back up at Cassandra and asked, "Did they give you a name, nice lady?"

The girl looked past Theonis. She gave one more scan of the area before trotting to the window and looking up. She sighed with strained relief before turning around and announcing, "I'm Ravan. There's no Legion in this world, right?"

"Correct, we've defeated Legion. And I'm going to be honest with you. We are currently facing something that wants to bring the thing that was in your skies..to our world. This universe's version of it. This place is not as safe as it seems but there is nothing eating our world right now. It's best to tell you instead of you finding out later on your own that we've got our own dangers." Theonis explained.

"That aside...welcome, to our universe, Ravan."

"Then let's do that sweetie." Cassandra answered and continued to walk.

"My name is Cassandra Aiden. And what about you?"

Biomass cracking, unable to withstand the force and speed of her strikes. He was more of a ragdoll than Legio at the moment. Despite knowing what she was doing he was unable to do something against this kind of speed. At the moment he lacked the experience to do so. Blood bursted out of his mouth when her final strike hit and like before, send him skipping over the floor once more. At first he laid there, taking it all in. He did not have the sensation of pain, nor did he have any organs, besides lungs which he needed to talk.

Slowly he got up.
