Leonard huffed and grunted when he dropped onto the bed. He was still very sore from the ordeal he was forced to participate in. More than that, he felt a heavy sense of shame.
"I wouldn't expect you to be. I have a lot to answer for. Speaking of which, I assume you have questions. I'll tell as much as I can, although I'm not sure how much this thing he put in my head will let me say." he said while glancing up toward the scar in the center of his forehead.

The wolf barely had time to register what had just happened before he replied with something that further fed into her hatred for him. That in turn caused her aura to flare and enhance her destructive force. What she didn't know was that the aura born from hatred was also being fed by the biomass she was forged from. Had she been "normal" her skin would have already begun to peel away and her muscles tear from the immense output of power.
She shifted and slid her right leg behind her and guarded against the round-house kick with an open palm forearm block in the wing chun style. The force of the impact caused a wave of pressure that blew the dust and debris away from the two of them.
"They didn't fail...I did." she hissed through grit teeth. Her hatred, then started to burn internally as well as externally. A paper clip sized crack formed over her right eye. Wisps of the violent aura began to lick from within the wound.
Powerful. But you could be so much stronger, so much faster...
She twisted her wrist and took a hold of his arm. She then jumped, twisted her hips, and swung her right leg at his neck, repeating the first attack Freya had attempted against him the day before. This time, though, it was a kick that resulted in a burst of orange force.

Tom bashfully shuffled into the room and nodded a greeting toward Crystalion. "Eavesdropping is rude enough. It's worse when I voluntarily peek into a persons head to get an answer I'm looking for."
He grabbed a chair from under the desk positioned opposite the beds and dragged it over to the bedside. He examined Ravan cautiously, having been quickly briefed by Isaac. He made no attempts to wake her, but he had to see if it'd be possible to open one of her eyes if he was going to construct a mental space for someone to explore.
He winced and slowly pried her left eyelid open. The light from before was vastly dulled, but Tom could only look into it for a few seconds before he let go and rubbed his eyes to try and comfort them.
"Wow. It's not bad at first, but it's like looking directly into an eclipse for too long."
He blinked a few times and looked up at Crystalion. "All I can get from her is the sound of a crying little girl. I need to know some things if we're going to help her. You're her mom, right? Is she usually a mentally stable person? Did she have a place where she felt safe? Are there people she's close to?"

While Alec and Kerana couldn't wait for their moment in the sun, Heather and Deora just grinned and turned to let the young couple be.. Deora, in particular, was happy for them. Kerana was so upset when Alec died the first time, and even more upset when he died again the day before. But Alec cheated death the first time, and she was given the power to bring him back. It seemed like they were destined for one another. As happy as she was, her heart ached whenever she glanced in the direction of Heather.
Heather remembered when Kerana was willing to run head first toward Legion's monsters for a chance to get Alec back. Those two had truly been through Hell. Her head tilted curiously as she considered Alec as a person. Aside from being a boy, Heather had never been into the whole goth slash emo thing. She couldn't quite get what it was that Kerana saw in him, but she didn't have to. They made each other happy, and that was enough.
All the while, something had been tickling the back of her mind. It was strange, but she knew it wasn't her. She turned toward Deora, who quickly averted her eyes. There was that tingle again. Deora, likewise, could feel Heather's growing curiosity. She took a deep breath as Heather approached her.
"Deora. Do you feel this ting to?" Heather asked.
"Mmm hmm. It's like we're connected."
"So...what I was feeling from you earlier...when you were talking me down..."
Deora blushed and shuffled her feet nervously. Aside from having an awful poker face, her own thoughts were betraying her. Heather took a deep breath and put her hand on Deora bicep.
"Maybe we should talk. While things are quiet." Heather suggested.
"Naw, it's okay. We don't-"
"I think we do, Dee. If what I'm feeling from you is right, I owe you an apology. Plus it's not good to have secrets between friends."
Deora sighed and nodded. No secrets. The two of them walked toward the entrance of Valhalla and headed toward Heather's room.
After basking in Kerana's light for a bit, both physically and emotionally, Alec pulled his lips from hers. His eyes looked deeply into hers for a while. He had never experienced such adoration from anyone. But he could see something else in those eyes. Concern. Even after seeing what he could do, he could still see that she was worried about him. Not just see it, but feel it too. Saying that he was bound to her probably didn't help matters much.
"Kay. We really haven't had the time to talk since yesterday. Since we don't have to worry about an invasion anymore, maybe we could see if the Cafeteria is open and chat." he offered.

Alec hung onto every syllable Kerana uttered. He knew that what she'd gone through in the last 24 hours had to be traumatic, but hearing what was going through her mind really cemented that. He also realized that he'd never seen her cry before he died the first time. She cried over him, because of him. He hated that.
He handed her one of his napkins for her tears. He felt it was best to try and address her concerns in the order she brought them up.
"I'm so sorry you had to go through that...twice. If I had a stronger will, I probably wouldn't have succumbed to the death dream dust."
"But hey, don't feel bad about your reluctance to listen to Damien. I mean, it all sounds so crazy, right? Yesterday all I could do was look into my possible futures, and you were a girl who had the ears and tail of a fox. Now I have nearly all the powers of The Grim Reaper, and you can bring life where there is none with little more than a touch."
"Two years...was a long time. I don't know if this helps, but you really didn't miss much. I was put through a sort of metahuman boot camp so that my soul could handle what was to come. I think my body is still catching up to that, which is why I can't get too far away from you without petering out."
"Occasionally, Crosis would open up and talk about his past. Every time he talked about Silhouette, it made me miss you even more. Then, I heard your voice. It was like when you'd greet me before class. It was a bell that chimed alone in a cacophony. Crosis was yelling something, but I didn't care. I reached for that voice, for you. Next thing I know I'm breathing, and you've gotten one Hell of a makeover."
"Hey. Maybe you could just think of it like I went to school in a different country for two years. But then that wouldn't really work since you only aged two hours." He rubbed his neck nervously and cleared his throat. "Hehe. Well. I'm still hopelessly awkward. That's something that I don't think will ever change." he said with a chuckle.
He looked to her with an admittedly awkward smile. An idea began to creep into his brain. He placed his right elbow on the table and opened his palm toward her. "I wanna try something. Maybe I can share my experience with you though our connection."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tom shook his head. "That wont be necessary, because I wont be going in alone. For a stranger, simultaneously constructing a mindscape and attempting to fiddle with her brain is really dangerous for both of us. Even if I knew what to expect to see from your mind, I don't know her well enough to navigate safely, especially if she's mentally unstable. That's why I asked if she was close with anyone. A familiar presence will be much less likely to be met with resistance than a stranger."
"Once I create the mindscape you, Dawn, or Leo will be the one that navigates her psyche. Once one of you've located her id, and dealt with what's caused this, I can start to heal her mind. I say start, because helping her isn't going to be as easy as it is for a healer."
He made a circular motion around the center of his chest with his left. "This is just as important to healing as her mind is, and I can't do anything about that. If...when we succeed, it'll be up to you and the others to heal her heart."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Damien shook his head and said, "You don't have to come with me if you want to check on the kids. I'll be okay now. Besides, I'm sure they'd love to see that their Wonder Woman is back and safe."
That last comment was regarding what the children had been calling Cassandra since they saw how strong and invincible she was.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leonard shook his head and sighed, "I don't. He only gave orders through the director's mouth. Nearly ten years of madness. We were compartmentalized heavily so that we wouldn't be able to see what the end result would be. Only Eccclcl...he and the director could see what the goal was from on high. The most I can tell you is what I had a hand in. Although I don't know how much help that will be."
Theresa sat back down at Theonis' suggestion and listened to the doctor give his explanation. She knew very little of what went on outside of her own experiments, conditioning, training, testing...torture. She would occasionally see other people that weren't doctors or facility personnel. Her sisters most of all. Oh how they loved to gang up on her. Even Luna, who was sad about it every time, did little to resist the temptation of hurting "Rock". Strength was always angry. Prism loved every moment of pain she received. But Chariot...Chariot was the worst. She was all smiles and laughter. Even after she would get hurt, she would be thrilled and ecstatic at the idea of exacting revenge. She used to question why those four seemed to be treated differently from her. After a few months, though, the question didn't seem to matter anymore.
She pulled her knees up to her chest and hugged them. The palm of her hand pulsed angrily. Good, she felt it would keep her there a little longer. She looked over to Theonis and saw that his face showed he was in pain too. It was different from hers, but it was still hurting him.
Her uninjured hand twitched. She started to reach out slowly, but then she withdrew just a bit. Her rubbed her thumb and forefinger together as she mustered up the nerve to do what she wanted. What she felt she needed. She shut her eyes and stretched her arm out toward Theonis, both offer of her hand and request for his.
The wolf was about to swear loudly when Legio sank his head into his body and she missed, but that was cut short by the one billion volts of electricity that shot through her. She felt her entire body go rigid and then cried out like a wounded animal. She went silent the moment her stiff body hit the ground. The blazing orange that surrounded her burst and disappeared like a burned out light bulb. There were a few seconds where she couldn't move at all. Her smoldering body began to shudder, and an audible whimpering sound escaped her throat. She squeezed her eyes hard and forced a few tears out. She dug and dragged her claws through soil the as her body slowly repaired itself.
"You don't understand. I was supposed to finish it, and then be finished. I should've just killed Ecplise when I had the element of surprise, but I wanted to see him afraid. I failed to sense Teshoumaru was hiding in the darkness. I was as good as dead. I would die, but at least they'd be at rest, and the last of the shadows stalkers would be dead."
"But then...you. You had to consume me. I infected you just as my father was infected by a dying shadow stalker. I would've been the Okami to your Freya. The cycle continues because of you. Why didn't you just kill me, or leave me to die. You should've just let me die. Why couldn't you just let me die?"
The wolf pushed herself up and sat on her knees, rubbed her eyes against the fur of her right forearm, and turned to face Legio. Her eyes, once acute and full of confidence, were bloodshot and exhausted.
"You son of a b***h. Why am I still here? You got what you wanted. You could've killed me several times by now. Why humor me like this?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tom sighed. "You mean the monsters made of teeth that hunted for the giant eye in the sky. I was asked to make sure the youngest of the kids that came with you had a good night's sleep. I've already seen it."
"The fewer people I take in, the easier it'll be for me to maintain a connection. Too many visitors and the psyche might start to retaliate faster and harder than if there were only one or so."
