A Necromancer and his Pupil (an adventure to end all )

[Kang_the_Knight]

Marron chuckled "Not much, but when I do, I do it in style my dear" he replied, leading her across the room. A few figures stood in the shadows, the zombie servents of the necromancer.
"Each of these seats actually belongs to a powerful necromancer, each of them a friend and fellow" Marron said, his tone changing slightly from cheerful to sorrowful "....and over the years, many of the chairs have emptied, and been replaced by the.." he cleared his throar somewhat deresively "...less than able"
He shrugged and led Anya on, past the thrones and zombie servents "But onto the next room" he said with a smile.

Anya nodded. She was going to press for more information but decided against it. "Yes. " She agreed. "The next room."

Marron smiled as he pulled aside a curtain. Behind it, was another door. The same door that stood at the other end of the dining hall.
"How about...." he thought for a moment, touchign his lips with his finger "... the menagerie" he said, opening the door.
A chorus of hoots, howls, roars, and calls greeted the two as they walked into the garden-zoo that Marron kept. It was an island of life amongst the death that was the Wraith Tower.
Magical barriers kept the more dangerous and powerful beasts safe from harm, and protected Marron and Anya, though the necromancer could have handled a large, six legged, black lion.
For others, they roamed freely, grazing, hunting, or lounging in a magical room that was enchanted to be open to the sky, even though it was halfway up the tower. It also extended far beyond the limits of the tower walls.
"My living pets" Marron said, motioning to the large grassland that stretched out of the small woods near the door.

Anya's face lit up as she looked around. "This is certainly not something I expected to find here." She said looking over all of the animals. Anya had been fond of animals, particularly birds and cats, though there were very few creatures she didn't like.

Marron smiled and held out his hand. A small avian alighted on it. it wasn't a bird, but a small reptile with a pair of dragon-fly wings and six legs. The necromancer nuzzled its chin with his finger. The Couroi crooned, its bright scales changing colors, from red to orange to yellow to green and blue.
"You'll find many things here that you'd not find anywhere else" Marron said cheerily.

Anya nodded looking at a kelpie. "So I have noticed... You have many creatures I've only ever read about." She smiled looking back at him. 'Some that are even supposed to extinct."  

[Kang_the_Knight]

Marron smiled "Well, having the god of death as a patron does have advantages" he chuckled, letting the little beast fly away.
"Many of them provide me with vital spell components, such as pegasis blood and griffon feathers" he said, leading Anya through the trees to the grassy meadows.

Anya followed slowly, watching carefully for any interesting creatures. "So they are more than just...friends to you?" said seeming slightly disappointed. "More than companions...supplies..."

Marron shrugged "In a sense. I love them, but they also love me, it is symbiotic" he said, watching a pair of pegasi grazing near a sleeping griffon.
"And they live in cohesion with the other 'animals" he chuckled, watching a a small two headed lizard with frills play with a massive beetle with a bright coloration.

She nodded. "So I see." She smiled. Any looked at a large tree beside her and before she could think twice she had latched on to one of the branches and was climbing her way up. She seemed to have little trouble swinging her legs up over each branch and making her way to a decently high branch. "I'm sure I favor this room."

Marron smiled, still watching animals go about their bussiness. He didn't seem to take notic of Anya's climb, thoguh he was aware of it.
"I'm glad. Maybe you would like to take care of it?" he asked. He had never really liked this room, seeing it as a small oasis of life amongst what was the dead he owned. He cared for it, and it was convienent, but it wasn't amongst his favorite places to walk.

Anya smiled down at him. "I shall if you Like." She said nodding.

Marron smiled "Very well, I hope you learn something while you take on this duty" he said charmingly. A small bell tinkled above, a sound that signalled that the day's sup was ready for the master.
Marron smiled "Are you prepared for supper? You may wash if you wish..." he said, leading Anya towards the door they'd come through.

Anya nodded. "Yes I would like to wash up a bit before eating." She said nodding. she then walked out to the edge of the branch she was standing on and leapt off landing steadily on her feet beside him. She then smiled as if her feat where an easy task and gestured for him to lead the way.

Marron smiled and showed her the door with a wave of his hand "Ladies first, just imagine a bathroom, and it will lead you to one." he said with a smile.
"I will meet you in the dining room after you are washed"
