More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

Fenris' unruly laughter slowed to an amused series of chuckling and exhales as Trinity helped her to the bench. She became abruptly silent when Trinity mention Legio. She then scoffed, "Pffffft. That guy...is an a*****e. Didja know that he ate me? Like, with his goop belly? I was dead Trininty. And then *hic* and then he was all like 'we gonna get that clips guy.' Which is what Freya was trYYYing to do in the firsht place. But he spat me back out yeshterday, 'member? 'Den he kicked MY a**!"

She looked around the bench as she continued, "Now he wants to fix me. Said the emo kid was could do it. 'Den that mutha fugga says that I might love him. ********. LOVE. But that ain't true, no *hic* ma'am. Cuz I still 'member wha happen tha lasht time. So here, I...am"

She reached under the bench and pouted. She huffed and whined, "Trin, I think I left my forgetty bottle ovah 'der. 'M startin' to hear him again. Can't let that happen. Do me a solid and go gettit."

“Fix you? In what way? … What did happen before?” all she knew about Freya’s love life was that she had sworn it off.

Yet that did not stop her from checking guys out when they were people watching. Odds are she’d humor Trin to get a sense of what her type was. When she was dating Myth it definitely looked like he had checked all the boxes in a physical sense. Yet she knew the longest she’s been with was Theo. She couldn’t help but wonder what happened there but did not want to ask to respect her wishes.

Trinity brought back the bottle in the paper bag except it was a bottle of water, then sat next to her and listened.

"They wanna take the curse away. 'Cuz if they don't, a loooot of people're gonna die. Since there's no Okami, and because Freya's crappy soul is halfa me now, there's gonna be a big, angry, doggo next new moon."

She took the bottle and shook her finger at Trinity, "Ah, Ah. No, no, no. Freya never talked about it fer a reason. She gave you the bullet points a few days ago, and that's the way it's gonna stay. 'Specially once I black out and ferget fer a bit."

Fenris took a swig of the bottle and drank it down without a thought. She smacked her chops a few times and frowned. She lolled her head so that she could face Trinity and said flatly, "Trininty...this ishn't my drink. What'ja do with my drink?"

Trinity remembered what she shared and could get why she was hesitant about trusting him on the matter or how irked she seemed when it came to love. “I know you may not trust him. But perhaps we should at least ask Alec to see if there is some truth to this.” She needed to at least try to prevent the massacre otherwise she would have to lock her up for the new moon.

She noticed Trinity switched her drink. “I returned it. They gave you poison. You’re lucky that your new form was able to take it. ” She cupped her hand to her cheek and with glistening eyes looked into her eyes, ”You know I normally wouldn’t do this, right? I need you. Can’t afford to lose you, especially in the next months. I don’t think I can take him down on my own, ok?” She didn’t want to admit it there is still some lingering part of her that wishes to find a way to save him even though he’s not him anymore.

Fenris was about to protest loudly in regards to her switched drink, but then Trinity's palm made contact with her fur. She put her hand on Trinity's to reciprocate. She hated making Trinity cry because it made her cry too.

"Oh, don't cry Trinty. Yer gonna make me cry too. I'm shorry." she said while holding back tears of her own. "Ish just whenever I'm r'minded of him, I 'member everything. What he said. What he did. What Freya did. Their eyes. The screaming. The blAUURGH!"

She wrenched herself from Trinity's hand and tossed her head forward just in time to keep herself from throwing up on her pupil. Her back lurched like a canine as she coughed and spit what was left in her mouth out. "Ugh. Omigawd. That burned more goin' out than in."

She looked down at the puddle of vomit and noticed that it was all liquid. She realised that she had not eaten anything since being un-biomassed. Not that she wanted to eat then. All she felt was shame. "Gah. ********. M'sorry. Some poor b*****d's gonna hafta clean-"

A small panel opened in the wall across from them where it met the floor. A small robot, not too dissimilar from a Roomba, began to clean and sanitize the area Fenris had soiled.

"Huh." The wolf mused. "Guess she never noticed 'em."

"I don't think I can handle silence. It's too suspicious. " Crystalion responded "But...thank you. I appreciate it." After that she was again alone in the room. Besides the sleeping baby. She decided she would just watch over him.

"Mommy Clara....not sure how she would react to it all. She isn't....involved in all of this like we are. I think it will take some time." Theo responded"

Theresa was silent for a moment as she considered her brother's words. She then straightened up and and asked, "I know this maybe isn't the best time, but I kinda want to see what I can do now that I'm a grown up. I hated tests when I was with Daedalus, but I think I'd be okay if I tested with you."

The girl took Kerana's hand and gave it a light shake. "Natalie. That's my little sister playing with yours."

As Ilex chased Hailey around the play area, she found herself having fun in spite of her earlier denial of her apparent age. She'd often heard human elders lament on how they would re-experience their youth if given the chance. It she was only then that she began to understand the sentiment.

Natalie looked to Kerana again and commented, "Y'know, there usually isn't this many people here at one time. I wonder if they feel safer after what happened yesterday."

Trinity thought for sure she would get push back or thanks mom with rolling eyes. But she got through to her and the along with the weight on her shoulders on the upcoming battle. The moment was interrupted by her hurling away from her (thankfully). She got up and wiped her eyes.

“Believe me, you’re preaching to the choir here when it comes to drinking your exes away. Had to do that not that long ago with Theo.” For a brief moment, one could tell that it still stings her, her mind went back to the last straw. Crystalion’s advice was so right she really needed time to find a way to forgive Dawn, even though her existence is not her fault. She pinched her nose and sighed it out sharply.

Trinity thought it strange that she kept referring to Freya in the third person. She supposed she kept making the mistake of thinking of her as Freya in a new form called Fenris. Perhaps it may have something to do with her attachment to her. Fenris may have her memories and Okami’s as well but she’s her own being, not just Freya anymore. Even though a lot of what she does reminds her so much of Freya.

“Look, I know you don’t trust Legio, and can’t blame you for not trusting him. I don’t trust him much either. I trust Alec way more. If you think Legio is lying then why not speak to Alec about the truth. If things are getting bad as you say they will be upon the next new moon. It may be worth doing whatever you can to prevent it.”

“I’ll talk to Gidget. See if there’s a way to contain you during that time period. I hope it doesn’t come down to that. But if it means keeping people safe I’ll do what I have to do.”

“By the way, when is the New Moon?”

Natalie pursed her lips in thought and watched her sister play with the little, and oddly well spoken, red head for several seconds. Without turning to look at Kerana she simply said, "No."

She paused for a beat and then continued. "I think people are done with standing by and watching their neighbors and family get black bagged, or worse. Hell, they were probably done a while ago. Now they're here, not knowing who's a meta, and not caring one bit about it."

She tilted forward and looked past Kerana. She grimaced slightly and grumbled, "Can't say the same for those guys, though."

Outside of the playground area was a bench where a group of what looked to be college aged men sat. They were alternating between talking amongst one another, scanning the perimeter, or watching the playground.

"They show up once a week or so to harass anyone who shows signs of being a meta. Bet they're pretty salty about Daedalus being swallowed by a black hole."

"Nuh-uh." Fenris refuted. "It don't matter how many shitty boyfriends you got. None of them top Allines in shear evil."

Fenris then sloppily counted on her fingers until she arrived at, "Nineteen days. Then we get to shee what kind of monster is hiding inside me, and I don' mean the monkey that makesh me drink."

She craned her neck sideways so she could look at Trinity. "Shomethins up. You look mad. Hol' up. Didja say pretty boy was your ex now? Fuuuuuuck, Trin. What'd he do? I'll break his fuggin' legs."

Theo looked his half-sister over. He had seen her destructive power before but that was before her ascension. They could see what she could be capable of. If she would be too strong to properly test it, he could always take her somewhere else.

"Hmm yeah I suppose we could do that. You HAVE gotten a lot stronger I think. Sure, let's go" Theo said and led her to the training room. It was surprisingly filled at this hour. After the last attack, it would make sense that people would want greater control over what they could do. He made a quick request for the firing range to have extra thick plates since he knew Theresa packed a lot of heat.

"You can aim at that silhouette over there in front of you. If you want something else, let me know."

Legio was quite for a bit, thinking back on the moment after. Sitting perfectly still. Not even his eyes moving as he thought. That short split second after she left.

"There was a.....twinge in my chest. Which was strange since that should not be the effect of a strike to the face. But it felt, wrong if that word works."

"Oooooh, look at you. Now this is something different!....I like it." Liv said surprised. She looked her girlfriend over a few times."Nice."

Aqua responded.

"The shallow area might be best to start in as you can still stand there. I am not sure if I am the best thing...person to teach you how to swim. For I cannot swim. I simply am."

Willadene took a moment to mull over what Legio described. Not one to stay silent for long, she started to think out loud.

"Mighta been that ya got yer feelin's hurt. Somebody like you wouldn't know what that feels like right away. You were obviously confused by the situation. She normally slugs you, but decided on a slap. Could be ya feel bad about what ya said. Y'know. Regrettin' hurtin' her on a personal level."

It was then that Willa's boyfriend stood up and strode up to the table beside his girlfriend. His six and a half foot stature towered over her. "Willa, I don't think ya can help this guy. He's got more to learn than ya got time."

Willa's head snapped to her boyfriend as she snapped, "Dad Gommit, Mark! I was about to have a breakthrough, or an epiphany or somethin'! And who says I ain't got time? You? Ain'tcha on the recovery crew? Why're ya hoverin' over me when yer giant a** is s'posed to be liftin' s**t?"

Mark Jude began to feel a bit smaller than he actually was. Leave it to her to bring him down a few notches. "But, it's just, he could...ya know what he is, right?"

Willa's tone softened a bit as she replied, "'Course I do. Yer worried about me, and that's sweet, but I ain't gonna letcha loom over me like some sorta buzzard. I'm alright."

Mark took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She was right. He didn't own her. There was no reason for him to be so jealous when she was just being her nosey, helpful self. "Alright then. I'll see you later?"

She playfully punched his leg and scoffed, "'Course. Ya owe me fer not deliverin' on our end of the world deal."

Mark blushed and cleared his throat and blushed, "Oh, er, right. Love ya."

"Hell yea ya do. Now go on and do yer thing, ya big dummy."

After Mark left, Willa huffed, "God damn. I love that boy, but sometimes he's got more heart than brains. Anyway...s**t, what were we talkin' about?"

Heather beamed and giggled with delight, "Thank you! I thought this color and style would look good with my scales and horns."

The spa employees lowered the chairs so that Heather and Liv could stand. Heather signed a slip of paper to complete the transaction and left another hefty tip for the staff. She looked to Liv and couldn't help herself. She trotted up and ran her fingers through her girlfriend's red locks. "Oh wow. It's so bouncy and soft!"

Theresa looked down the range at the targets. It brought back memories of the tests they used to run on her back at Daedalus, but she didn't feel frightened like she did back then. She looked over to Theonis and gave him a grateful smile.

Almost as though a switch were flipped in her mind, she leveled her arm at the silhouette and took aim with her index finger as she had done with Leo earlier. She didn't know how to describe it, but it felt like her eyes and brain were working in tandem to show her the best trajectory to take. Since the target was stationary, it was easy.

She fired six shots at the silhouette. She asked Theonis if she could see her results. Once he'd pressed the button to bring in the target, she could see that there was a single hole in it's head. That either meant she only hit it once, or six times in the same spot.

"Can we make it move?"

She went on to practice on targets that moved back and forth, side to side, a combination of both, multiple targets, and a shooting gallery mode that Gidget had put in especially for the younger ones. Theresa used her finger gun, her standard rifle, and a smaller version of the proton cannon she used a few days earlier. She also tried new configurations that launched bolts of metal from the palms of her hands, and one that fired scattershot ball bearings in a tight grouping for maximum damage. At no time did she miss. It was like her body wouldn't allow for it. She was also able to switch between configurations a lot faster than she could before due to the absence of pain that came from it.

She looked at Theonis and asked, "Is there a place where I can practice shaping metal. I want to see if I can do more than make a hamburger. Maybe we can have a, what did Gidget call it...a spare match?"
