Theresa listened carefully for anything that could give Theonis away, but he was being as careful as she expected him to be. She knew that even barefoot her movements would stick out like a sore thumb. It was time to test what else she could accomplish with her new powers. She was, after all, the daughter of two geniuses.

She created a handful of small, metallic balls that were capable of limited elasticity. Not as good as rubber, but they'd be solid enough to create a decent echo in the maze she had just made. She began to move through the maze swiftly in the direction of the higher portions of the structure. All the while she lobbed, tossed, threw, and dropped the small orbs in random directions to created a racket loud enough to cover the sound of her movements.

"Who says you have to pay for an-"

Heather was abruptly caught off guard by the blinding luster around her. It reminded her of the the end of the movie her stepfather used to watch. She couldn't remember the whole title at that moment, but she was sure it started with 2001. Her eyes, capable of perceiving spectrums of light beyond that of humans, glistened at the unique beauty she was able to see

"Anywhere, as long as it's with you." she said breathlessly. "I'm not gonna make it a habit, but I'm spoiling the ever loving s**t out of us today."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I will not, nor will I ever, allow you to probe my mind for so little as the name of a color." Rydia scoffed in a voice that was very similar to her grandmother's more regal tone. "Do not mistake my assistance for anything more than the most base acknowledgment of how little my grandmother and Fenris trust you. Had it not been for their validation of you, I would have slammed the door on you the moment I caught your scent."
"Even now, do you wish to make right by Fenris because of the way you hurt her, or merely to alleviate the guilt you feel? Granted, any act of goodwill brings with it feelings of pride and accomplishment, but that should not be the primary motivation for such actions. Good should be done for the sake of what is just. The sake of bringing decency to a world that is often seen as uncaring. That is what I was taught growing up, and those principals allowed my people to rise above the men that ruled before my grandmother."
Only to be brought down by an evil that slaughtered 99% my people in a matter of hours.
Rydia felt a wash of sadness overcome her. She took a deep breath in defiance of the tears that threatened to shed from her eyes. She refused to cry in front of Legio. She brought her right hand up to her eyes and covered them with her thumb and forefinger.
"Freya and Okami weren't complex. You have everything you need to know. It wont take much to please their palate. Please, leave me be." she asked with a sigh.
"Understandable" Legio responded to her saying no.
"Both" Legio stated firmly. To him both options were deeply intertwined.
"Very well, Thank you for your time and answers." He got up but before he left, he hesitated for a brief moment.
"I know you most likely do not wish to hear this from me. I am sorry for your loss Rydia."
"Well I don't want to be the Gold Di......" she stopped mid sentenced and giggled a bit. "You're the dragon with the hoard. If anyone is digging in the gold, it'd be you. But I suppose I am allowed to dig in that hoard seeing as I am part of your treasures now huh"
Theo had float up towards the ceiling, It gave him the best overview of the maze He knew that he created no sound, even if he did a small barrier surrounding him would muffle that out. Moving would seem like the most logical thing to do but also something that was expected of him? So for now he didn't go anywhere but up. Closing his eyes, he focused on his other senses, like his hearing which....did little because of his own barrier. He didn't know how to disrupt his own sounds, no matter how minute, while letting others through. Perhaps something like a thing layer around him that left out his ears? Something to work on.
He took a deep breath and let out a series of gusts of wind going to every direction. Theo knew he could map the maze by simply feeling the connections on the ground but he needed to use his newly gained Wind as well.
As Silhouette worked her magic, Trinity couldn’t help but look around as the environment had changed. Then the memory came into focus. Younger versions of her senseis were being held down or beaten up. Trinity was lucky that despite being a bit of a loner high school she didn’t have to endure such confrontation. It became less likely when her athletic prowess came to play. There was still verbal abuse but what her mentors went through was another thing entirely. She knew she couldn’t do anything about the situation but every fiber of her wanted to step in and show those bullies who was boss. Even though she wanted to step in someone else did...
Rikki Tikki Travi
A tall and thin seventeen year old boy with long golden blonde hair that was tied back into a low pony tail, glared down at the girl and tightened his grip until she finally released the rock and screamed at him to let her go. She pounded her fist on his chest as he stared down at her with pale green eyes. He only let her go when he looked up to see that her older brother had put Freya down and made a run for him. It happened quickly, but it was when The blonde boy flicked the brother's nose so hard that it popped up like a flap valve with a spray of blood. That caused the others to quickly let go of Freya and Teshoumaru. They wasted no time in scrambling off in every direction to get away from the obviously dangerous teenager.
A moment later, He was carrying Freya home as Teshoumaru walked beside them. She came to and looked up at him through her swollen eyes. "Who're-"
"Don't talk. He's an old friend. Remember Sarah's older brother?"
"It's okay. It's been a few years, I haven't really come by to say hi since I came back last month."
Freya remembered. His name was Alines. "Wha' happen'?"
"Doesn't matter. I'm taking you home so your mom can help you."
"...'Kay."
Freya stayed silent the rest of the way, but there was one thought that ran through her mind the whole way home. Didn't he use to be mean, and when did he get hot?
Trinity could see why she liked him. Not only because he was a knight in shining armor but he was good-looking for a boy his age. Freya's train of thought did trouble her hmmm… she even remembered him to be mean. "This was the beginning from Freya's point of view, but when did they mutually start going out? Right now it would seem that she would be in his debt. He may have used this event to say that she owed him or something of that nature." She shared her thoughts out loud with Sil and rubbed her chin in the process. Trinity needed to know more about what led to that big event. "Let's go to the point in time when they started going out."
Theresa had taken a cover behind a wall when she felt a gust of wind make her hair flutter. She put her back to the wall and huffed. She knew his wind was going to be difficult to get past, and she'd adjusted the playing field so that she could gain something of an advantage. Yet she did not know enough about wind to understand that it could bend around corners. Especially when it was under the control of a wind meta.
She thought about making a large number of pistons throughout the maze, but she nixed that idea when she realized it would require a lot of time to set up the pneumatics required to keep it moving without her direct influence. Vents? No, the heat needed to generate steam would kill them both.
Then it hit her. She felt the direction the wind came from. That meant she could follow the wind that way, but she would need a more specific location to be able to move without completely giving away her position if she had not already. She reconfigured her left hand into a small scale rifle and aimed it at the wall in front and below her at an angle. She made the maze, so she knew the layout, and the rapid information processing ability inherited from Gidget allowed her to make the necessary calculations in a flash.
She let out a several shots that ricocheted off the walls in the general direction the wind came from. She knew Theonis would have a bubble around him, so she was confident none of the shots would harm him. She just hoped it would get him to yell out in surprise.
Rydia raised her free hand to acknowledge that she heard what Legio had said. She then dropped it and said nothing more. She just waited for him to leave.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Heather smirked and replied, "At the risk of sounding like I think of you as property, which I don't, I consider you the crown jewel. Without you, the rest of it means nothing. Besides, when was the last time either of us had a day out to treat ourselves. A month? I was in prison and you were hiding from the shadows. Let's go nuts!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Silhouette waved her hands once again. Then again. And again. Her brow knit as she looked through the memories.
"They didn't. No courtship. No dating. Just a one sided, ah! Here's something."
The scene shifted again. They were it what looked like an empty corner office of a tall building that overlooked a city. There were three people. One was an older Freya, who looked to be in her late teens. At that time, she had none of the animal traits that Trinity had always seen her with. The other person was a pregnant, black woman in her early twenties that lay on the ground unconscious, but breathing at the feet of the third person. The third was Alines. His hair was loose and wild. He looked down at the pregnant woman with hard eyes. Eyes that had once been green, but were then yellow with red sclera.
Freya approached cautiously and whispered, "Wh-what happened?"
Alines' eyes became frantic. He looked to Freya and insisted, "Jackie, she...it just happened."
Freya threw caution to the wind, ran up to Jacqueline, and dropped to the woman's side. She checked Jackie's pulse. Good. Breathing, slow but even. It was like Jackie was asleep.
She stood up and looked to Alines. "What did you do?"
Alines reached behind his back at an awkward angle and pulled at something. He removed and displayed an old kabar knife that dripped with blood.
"She tried to stop me. To kill me. After she told me how much she loved me. Is she..."
"In a coma. I'm no doctor, but I think your kid's okay."
Alines sighed and inhaled sharply with a mix of relief and panic. He turned his back to Freya and walked toward the window. He dropped the knife along the way and placed his hands against the glass. She watched wordlessly.
"First my parents, then your family, and now even she has defied me, now. I do this for her, for our child....for Sara." he bemoaned.
Freya took a few steps toward him and opened her mouth to speak.
"I...I need you."
Freya halted in mid step, her mouth still ajar. She had longed to hear those words for so long, but she had resigned herself to being his right hand. "Alines? What is this?"
"You've been with me in this from the start. No questions. No doubts. Just devotion to our ideal. An ideal I knew Jackie was hesitant to get behind, but I never thought she'd..."
He turned on to face Freya, his yellow eyes looked into her very soul. "You said once that you loved me, but I dismissed it as mere puppy love. Then again you said it, but I was with Jackie. Now I understand the depths of your love for me. You would never betray me as everyone else has."
"Never." Freya affirmed.
Alines seemed to float as he approached her. He graced her cheeks with the back of his fingers and looked into her eyes without blinking. Her gaze never wavered.
"Even so, the mother of my child betrayed me. I not only need your love, I need your rage, Freya. Prove your devotion to me, and you will have the love you desire so desperately."
The tears flowed freely from Freya's eyes. "What do I need to do?"
He leaned in, put his lips next to her ear and whispered. "Subjugation will no longer suffice. They have to die. To suffer. Do this for me. Kill. Kill them all. So that we can stand atop the ashes of humanity together."
Her decision took less than a second, but in that small amount of time she thought about how afraid she had been to spend the rest of her life alone. Her father had hammered home that love was a weakness. Hypocrite. She would not be standing there had he adhered to what he forced on his children. Then there was her animal like appearance and behavioral ticks. That attracted freaks.
But Alines understood. He was like her. She could tell. Since that day he carried her home after being pelted with rocks. The more she heard him speak and watched him as a kid, the more she grew to admire him. That admiration turned to love. Unrequited. He loved Jacqueline. But at that moment...
"Yes. I'll do it." she breathed.
Alines tilted his head downward and put his lips to her neck. She gasped and wrapped her arms around his back. His left hand moved to-
Silhouette put her hand up harshly and brought the memory to a halt. "I can't watch anymore of that. b*****d. I never knew the depths to which he sank to keep Freya as his attack dog."
Legio left afterwards. It would be best to practice creating the food that would serve as the apology. But it dawned on him that he did not have a place to stay now that he was mortal. Neither did he posses a true identity to call his own. The same issue arose with currency. He had never required any of these before. Problems that needed to be taken care of eventually. For now, the easiest to take care of was finding a place in Valhalla. There were still unoccupied apartments.
"When did you get so smooth?" Liv responded. She took her girlfriends hand. "Let's go then." With her other hand she plucked a strand of light and both turned into light and entered the stream. They materialized on the far side of the town where Heather wanted to go to initially.
Theo knew where she was right now. He could feel it. What was she going to do. He floated near the ceiling considering his options. Moving around was no problem at all. Then she fired. He felt two rounds deflect off of his barrier. It caught him off-guard. How did she?
Ofcourse....he was the center of the wind. So it would make sense that she'd know that but...did she ricochet the bullets? That changes things. Theo intensified the wind but created a mobile sphere as the origin point. Using the wind he floated of in a different direction. Trying to circle around her.
Heather stumbled at first but quickly recovered her footing. "Oh man. That's a lot better than going through shadows. I remember the first time Trinity did that I threw up."
She looked up at the Galleria and grinned. She quickly sent a message to her driver to meet them at the parking garage of the shopping center. She also advised that he keep an eye out for anyone that might be tailing him.
"Okay. He should be here by the time we're done shopping. Ooh, I haven't had a fresh pretzel in forever. I wonder if that place is still open?"
Just as they crossed through the breezeway, Heather hopped forward with her hand behind her back and turned to face Liv. "I hate to be needy, but I should probably get some proper footwear. I'd rather not cause a scene 'cuz I got dragon feet. I think it's time to show you what sort of kid I was before I got scaly."
A few minutes later, Heather led them to a store called "Rebel Wastes." It specialized in goth, grunge, and punk apparel. She couldn't help but grin from ear to ear. It had been so long since she'd gotten to dress according to her favorite aesthetic. When she became more lizard like, everything looked terrible on her. It didn't help that her favorite brands favored cat-girls as opposed to any tail havers who didn't have a rear appendage that was one size all the way down.
Something dawned on her at that moment. She put her hands up to her earlobes and felt around them. s**t. Her piercings were gone. She guessed it was to be expected. She spent the last half decade or so without ears.
"Crap. My piercings closed up. I'm gonna have to go through all that mess again. I guess it's a good thing they have licensed piercing specialists in the back."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Deora Alvarez trotted down the hallway as Carak followed beside her. They rounded the corner and spotted Legio. The wolf-hound was quick to growl at the perceived threat. He wasn't able to voice his dislike for long, though. After a few seconds, the jewel on his collar glowed the same color as Rydia's spirit claws. With a wink of light, he was gone. Deora looked down at where the good boy once was and sighed, "Guess she really wanted him back."

Deora looked up at Legio and looked at him curiously. She'd heard about him, but had yet to meet the man/thing. At that moment, he seemed like less of a potential threat and more like a lost child. She really wanted to go to the pool again and spend time around her literal element, but she couldn't just leave the guy there.

She walked up to him and waved, "Hey. Legio right? You look lost."

Theresa felt the a source of wind shift and move after she ceased to hear her search shots. She was about to go after it when a thought occurred to her. He was capable of moving with a bubble of air that was impalpable. Why would she be able to feel it then? A diversion?

She could feel her face get warm with frustration. As smart as she was in a combat situation, she did not know enough about Theonis power to make the best choices. But, then again, she just gained a boost that he knew little about. She knew she still had room to grow and flex.

She took a deep breath, put her back up against a wall, and sank into it. She found that she could move freely through the structures she created, but that it came at the cost of mobility. She could not hop out of one wall to another the way Trinity hopped through shadows. She had to physically get herself there.

She hoped he'd be safe, because she was about to make the maze a hell of a lot less hospitable.

She surged her power through the walls. The crackling sound echoed just before the walls erupted in a series of cross and parallel beams throughout the maze. She made sure they weren't too fast, and that if she felt any resistance they would stop while also indicating where he was.

"Everything is better when traveling with Crystal Airlines." She said with a wink

"Lead the way babe."

Looking around the place, it brought up some memories of her own.

"I think I had a...phase like this. I just really liked the black."

She subconsciously rubber her own ear lobes. "Yeah that wouldn't work on me. Healing and all that. I can disable it but...next time I turn it on again, plop. Gone"

"Hello, Deora. I am pondering over my next few actions. I have things that I need to acquire. Official identification, currency and an place to stay. To call my own. Currently, I have none." Legio responded.

Theo did his best to avoid the suddenly obstruction that erupted from the walls, floor and ceiling. This was exactly why he did not want to touch the ground to begin with. If this maze was something she created then he figured she could locate him where he made contact with the floor.

Theo could not avoid all of them and some definitely impacted against him. His barrier was to keep out projectiles but pillars like these had no problem breaking through. He grunted as he managed to find a spot that was a bit more comfortable.She got him in the shoulder, left side of his stomach and lightly grazed the back of his head.

Shaking his head he dropped the flow of wind and landed on one of the pillars. If she wanted to play like that....fine.

Silhouette put her hand up harshly and brought the memory to a halt. "I can't watch anymore of that. b*****d. I never knew the depths to which he sank to keep Freya as his attack dog."

Trinity felt the same way, her blood boiled as she saw the boy take advantage of her younger mentor. She sighed to herself, far be it for her to judge. There have been instances where she found herself having to “prove her love” in some way. She would have done anything in those circumstances, except kill an innocent person… and it was there the line was drawn that would enable her to understand Sill and Freya not. Yet she agreed to this for that need of approval of the one she sought, anything to get close to him. Anyone can look at this situation and find that her dedication was ill-placed anyone except the one in Freya’s position. “Love can blind you, at this rate she would have done anything for his approval, his acceptance, his love to be returned.”

Trinity knew the next part she’d need to know about was how it ended. She figured it was in partially due to the massacre she caused that lead to her banishment. But this would also lead her to see a version of Freya that even Freya did not wish her to even know about. She knows now she regrets this part and leaving this behind has stopped working. Why? She narrowed her eyes as she pondered the question a little.

Her stance steadied as she looked to Silhouette, “Take me to where it ended.”

Theresa followed the impacts right up to the point that Theonis finally touched down. She slid through the walls until she was at a position that was just over and behind him. She felt bad about the damage he had taken, but she could not help but feel a little bit of pride when she bypassed his barrier. That meant she had a way to win this little match. Like a cat, she could feel herself sort of wind up for the pounce. A moment later, she shot out of her hiding spot toward Theonis with a bang, and with her arms outstretched.

Heather clicked her tongue against her teeth when Liv mentioned healing. Would the same thing happen to her? As a dragon, her ears just sort of became leathery flaps on the sides of her head. She wondered if she'd just have to keep studs or rings in at all times to keep them from closing. Well, there was really only one way to find out, but she didn't want to take up a lot of time just doing things that she liked. In and out. 30 minutes at most to try on clothes and pick out a weeks worth of new wardrobe for now.

"What if you kept the piercings in? Would your healing just push the jewelry out?" she asked Liv as they entered the store. "You could get a few to try out while I pick my new wardrobe. Just tell them to put it on my tab."

A little over thirty minutes later. Heather had two handfuls of shopping bags and a new outfit. A simple black on red ensemble. Black T-shirt with a grey dragon design on the lower right torso, a red half skirt secured by a belt with a chain that hung from the front and back loops over black shorts. Asymmetrical stockings that came up to her right thigh and left knee with large boots that had way too many buckles. She also opted for a studded wristband and a few small black gold bracelets. She felt like a new woman after so many years of taking what she could get to fit her reptilian frame.

She wondered if Liv had taken her suggestion to try new piercings. Either way, Heather couldn't see her girlfriend right away, so she called out, "Liv, I'm good to go!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Deora chuckled, "Yeah, you're kinda screwed without any of that. I knew a guy from my old neighborhood who could help with the ID thing, but it'd probably be best if you got your papers legally. Y'know, Gidget got in good with the president this morning. Maybe she could help you get your credentials and get set up with other things. This place has got all kinds of programs and stuff to help people who want to go back to living out of here."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Gladly." Sil said as she made a few more motions to get to the last memory of Alines.

It was the roof top of the tallest building in the city. Most likely the same one from the previous memory. Alines stood over a chained down Adam Crescent, a battered and bleeding Kae'lonni, and help up a Latin woman with black and white angel wings by her neck

Alines, whose eyes were covered by a white strip of cloth wrapped around his head, looked into the woman's eyes as though his own eyes weren't occluded. "Sweet little Lorelei. I gave you a chance to leave with your family. Why did you stay?"

The woman, Lorelei, choked out, "The same reason you let us live, cousin. Because we're family."

Kae'lonni reached for her blade, Izayoi. Alines, without so much as a glance, swept his foot sideways and kicked it away. It slid until it was stopped under the boot of Freya, who had just arrived in time to see Alines admonish his older cousin.

Alines glanced over to her and smiled, "Ah, Freya. Perfect timing, and it looks like you wrapped things up with Teshoumaru."

Freya clenched a wound up and bloodied kusarigama in her right hand. It still dripped with the blood of her brother. Her eyes were steeled, and her face hardened. She replied with a curt and simple, "Yeah. It's done."

Adam clawed at the ground as he tried to break free of the chains that held him to the roof. "Goddamnit, Freya!" he growled.

Kae'lonni stared at her little sister with disbelief. "No...you didn't. It's a lie." But after a moment's silence, she knew it was so. She inhaled through her teeth and screamed, "Are you proud of yourself now, Freya?! Is this what you want?! What about what Dad said before he died?! What about Mom?! She's waiting for her children to come back! And you...you!"

The whole time, Freya couldn't bring herself to look at her sister. She knew Kae'lonni was right, but she couldn't say it. Not just yet.

Alines scoffed, "Please. She's devoted to our cause. To me." He then pulled Lorelei a bit closer, reached forward with his left hand, and broke her right wing with a twist of his wrist. She screamed and writhed in right hand as she tried to summon up a flickering light from her palms. Alines then requested coolly, "Freya, be a dear and finish things with your family. I have just a little more to do before I toss my cousin off the side of this building."

Fenris squirmed and moaned as Freya dropped her kusarigama with a clatter and picked up Izayoi. Adam and looked to her with a mix of sadness, disgust, and anger. Kae'lonni looked at her little sister with pity and sorrow. Freya took one last look at Adam, and a longer one at her sister as she walked up to them, and then past them. With a desperate bound, Freya made the last leap toward Alines with her blade drawn.

Alines dropped Lorelei, spun on his heels, and caught the blade with his hands just before it pierced his chest. His fingers bled as his skin reacted to the metal. "I knew it! Even you wouGCHK!!!"

A second, hidden black pierced his throat and went out through the back of his head. It was Teshoumaru's telescoping blade. Blood ran down and onto Freya's left hand as she cried and hung her head. "No...this isn't betrayal, Alines. All of my love for you is being put into this last act. I'm setting you free...and sparing the world our hate."

The blade had sliced the wrapping that Alines had used to cover his eyes. Freya looked up at him and into what had become of those once brilliant eyes that she would lose herself in. His eyes had lost any semblance of humanity. They were completely red, and furious. But as they looked to each other, she swore she could see something of the old him in there. Just a hint of that green she fell in love with.

He gurgled and coughed up blood in her face. His teeth grit hard enough that she could hear them begin to crack. She couldn't see what the others were doing. She didn't care. She was lost in the despair of that moment. "I'm sorry." she hiccupped with a crack to her voice.

With one fluid motion, she drew both of the blades from his grip and neck, spun horizontally in the air, and slashed the Izayoi through his eyes. The cut released an explosion of dark power that seeped into Freya's pours and threw her off of the roof.

She looked up at the starry sky as she fell. She could feel whatever came out of Alines working it's way through her blood stream. She wasn't worried about that. The fall would certainly kill her first. Good, she thought. It's better this way.

But instead of the impact she expected, she felt a sudden shift in gravity as the world around her became a film negative. Shapeless beasts slinked and wrapped around her. The world around her became so much more dark. "Is this Hell?" she mused aloud.

Silhouette raised a hand and stopped the memory. "That's enough. You don't need to see what comes next, and she doesn't need to experience it again." she insisted.

Fenris whined, "Please stop. I don't want to remember anymore."

"Yes, I suppose asked her would be the most logical approach. But I believed Theonis Acula Richards was the Head of Valhalla or is he simply a front?" Legio asked.

Theo has been standing stil in his position. Taking in the environment, the movements in the air. He had the walls change behind him or rather he felt the air being disturbed. His normal ability already told him she was no longer where she was before but she hadn't moved. If this was her domain could she freely move through it? That seemed to be the case. She ready to pounce or attack.

Theo didn't turn around but used a gust of air to move away. It looked strange as he didn't make any movements himself. Turning mid-air he fired a strong gust of wind at her while she was mid-air.

The gust of wind dried her eyes to the point where she had to close them, but it did little to stifle her momentum since she was so dense in metals. She landed on the platform where he had just been standing and rubbed tears back into her eyes.

"Gah! No fair!" she complained as she tried to blink her sight back.

Her blurred vision caught sight of the environment she had created. In her haze, her mind confused it for the shifting battle arena that she and her sisters knew as "the playground." She had remade that hellish domain without even realizing it. It didn't take long for her realization to trigger a panic attack.

"No...how did? Not here. Oh please, not here!" she groaned.

Her head was on a swivel at that point. She looked everywhere until her unfocused eyes settled on Theonis. To her frightened mind, a floating adversary mean Luna.

"No, not again! Never again!! I wont go back!!!" she screamed with increasing fury. Her right arm reconfigured itself into her favored rifle, which she leveled at Theonis, and opened fire. That time, though, the rounds weren't chalk. They were chunks of solid metal being fired at high velocity.
