Rivera leapt from roof to roof, her wings helping only with smooth landings. She had never mastered the full use of them in the air, but they were still helpful underwater and on normal terrain. Kairen wrapped tightly about her waist and upper chest, the chains rattling gently. Kairyu pulsed with a strange anticipation.
With a final leap, Rivera landed silently into the courtyard. Her hair trailed behind her like tresses of raven silk ribbons. Both of her eyes were a cunning golden-brown, tinted with the embers of yesterday's fire. Kairyu, her sword, was as silver as her wings, with the same bluish ripple that said it was the finest skysteel souls could buy and forge. The dragon on its hilt gave it its name. Kairen, the steel chain, moved of its own accord. Its primary counterweight moved its triangular piece back and forth like a mesmerizing cobra.
The girl looked towards the sky, a gale still blowing around her. "This is a first... are you angry at me?" She seemed to speak to the sky that grew steadily darker. But of what she could hear, no one else understood. No one else understands how the wind sings to her... this was a song of unknown sorrows, of crashing thunder and flashing lightning, rolling thunderheads and lashing rain... this was her speech, and it was the storms.
"... so it is the song... am I not allowed to sing it freely?" Rivera's whispering voice was sad, "That was a memory beyond memory... I found it by chance only. Do you mean to say... that you hid it from me? Please, tell me why..."
But the answer, even she could not understand why snow and hail would fall in a circle around her, but nowhere else. There was a last flash of lighting to bid farewell to the storm... and suddenly, all was still. Rivera stood alone with Kairen and Kairyu, with the frozen precipitation melting quickly in the rapidly emerging sun. After all this, all she could do was sit down on an empty patch of ground and think while she gazed sadly at the sky.

Rivera looked up as an aural dent appeared with a strange force of energy. She seeked the object with her mind and her eyes turned to it without any mishap in directions. It was a dark fog of some sort. A figure emerged from it and sat down at the fountain, appearing to be thinking. He made a strange impression of it though--thinking the moment you come out of a fog... is he lost?
Her eyes immediately fell to the energy sphere in his hands, and she stood up, drawn to its power. Walking towards him silently, she got a closer look at the sphere. The sword he carried drew the attention of Kairen immediately, who snaked down in silence to greet the weapon. The links of chain did not clink against each other.
Rivera was about to say something when a missle of warping energy shot through her head through the slit pupil of her dragon eye, and the energy sphere vanished. By now, the man would've noticed her. Kairyu hummed a warning from its spot on her back. The blade was worried that she had done something she wasn't supposed to...
"Oh, I'm sorry sir. I think I...er... swallowed you... energy sphere..." Rivera made her presence known with the apology, although it was no more than a whisper and her emotions were still flat-ish. She didn't know that her powers would be out of her control. She looked into his eyes and realized Damn... I must sound really lame... "Um... I'm sorry..." She thought for a quick moment, then thought about the sphere. A ball of lightning, black in color, popped into her hands. "Didn't know I could do that... I hope this can serve as a replacement."

Rivera tore her green-blue eyes away from the display of lights. Her right eye, the dragon one, turned a prim shade of violet. Her left normal eye turned imperial blue. The girl bowed gracefully, a bow that did not match her boyish navy-violet biker's jacket and the dark blue boy-cut jeans, or the leather strapped black boots. They didn't even have one inch heels. The draconian tatoo on her right forearm was as dark as ever, masculine against her feminine body.
"My name is Rivencaira Aeryazure Capella'acqu, of the Pritier Capella'acque dere Aeterranchise... I think. I'm not very sure, but the Storm says so." She whispered to him, for it was all she could do in speech. She had never said anything, nothing that she could remember anyway. Her voice was the wind's song, nothing more than a whisper on the breeze.
Rivera rose up from her bow. "You can call me Rivera, or Birdie, if you like. My name is long... " But at least I know it's my name, mine and mine alone. She thought the last bit to herself. That was a memory she escaped with, her name. But her origins were vague. All that she had found meant nothing to her if she didn't know her purpose.
"And yours?" The flat whisper still rose and fell like the tides by the moon, but still, the emotions were only visible in her eyes, shifting into colors of green and gold. Her narrow frame seemed delicate and fragile, but they held steely muscles built for speed. Without the danger, she looked almost childish--a demented child, that is--and lost, except that she has the sword and chain. The steel wings on her back had folded and retracted.

Seraph tilted his head forward in the old style male bow, not befitting the punk jeans, combat boots, and tight black shirt he was wearing. "My name is Seraph Lu Dong Bing, literally meaning 'Angel of the Sword'. My hometown was originally a place called 'Sharder Gap', but I moved since. " He paused for a moment as he continue, looking up toward the sky, "Its gone now... An attack on the place killed everyone but me." A tear fell from his cheek as he recalled the incident. He clenched his fist as anger overtook him. Dark black energy started to pulse around his fists as another tear fell from his cheek. "They killed my Mom" Seraph quenched the flow of energy as his sleeve slid up revealing an almost life like, shimmering black dragon tattoo. He instantly caught it and pulled his sleeve back in place, anger turning into embarrasment. Ugh... Why cant I keep control of my emotions.... She wasnt supposed to see that... "Im terribly sorry about that," Seraph looked a bit sheepish as he continued. " I dont usually lose it... Umm... Yeah..."

Seraph watched as she softly whispered, expressionless,"I don't... remember... anything... from more than two or three months ago. What are parents like? What do they do?" Seraph spotted a bench out of the corner of his eye, "This will take a bit of explaining, lets go sit over there." He pointed in the direction of the bench. He picked up his sword, strapping it to his back. He looked at her as he clasped his hands behind his back and started walking over to the bench. She followed at his side, listening. "Well, I only knew my mother." He looked at Rivera, who still had the quizzative expression on her face, "She was a very nice person, spoiled me rotten. She liked messing with my hair, but I hated it." Seraph sat down on the bench as Rivera took the other side of the bench. "Strange how I hated it then, and now I miss her touch oh so terribly." He placed his head in his hands, "She took care of me, she gave me gifts on my birthday, she helped me with my chores... She even gave me a sweet plum if I was good." He raised his head, a pained expression apparent on his face. "She was all I had... Then the Morden came. They attacked quickly, ruthlessly, and emotionlessly. They killed her right in front of me." Tears streamed from Seraph's face as he recalled the painful memory, "I killed the one that did it to her... With magic... I didnt know what i was doing... Everyone was dead. All of the Morden by my hand, everyone else had a Morden blade or arrow in them." Seraph's tears stopped as he continued, " I went outside, looking for anyone, a friend, an enemy... Anyone. I only found my sword. That was it. It was standing amidst a pile of Morden, each lying as if they were reaching for it." Seraph brought himself back to reality. "Oh, I am so terribly sorry... I have completely bored you..." Seraph chuckled, "I tend to tell really long and convulted stories... Especially when it comes to my history."
