"That I do not know. Because Lexi insisted on a human marriage. I believe she said that because she would marry a human.I heard some of them get married in the style of their partner if their partner is of a different race. It's a bit of a cultural clash actually since some frown upon joining with someone outside of their own blood while other accept it saying that it makes them strong" Nova said as he took another bite.

" I think out of all of you Alejandro and Trinity should be careful. Trinity just because she comes on as a strong woman and which attracts their men and Alejandro because of his wings. Who knows if the child conceived from a Valkyrie would have wings of a dragon? I believe many of them want that. So watch out."

"Heh, yeah right. If they start coming on to me I'll give them a reason to think twice." she took a couple of bites of her steak and eggs. She tend to eat hardy when she was in town, which wasn't often before she met this group.

"Oh I can assure you it will not be that easy. But please, by all means do so." Nova replied. He turned his attention to Kerana and Alec. Reaching out into his robe he pulled out two books and handed them over to them. "I believe these should help you on your studies. Alec, your book is mostly about Wind and a couple of chapters about Nature. Kerana, yours is about Fire since you seem to be good at it. I also added the basics for Summoning because I am curious if you can do it." Nova explained. "I tried to add theories and formula's that you are used to but you may find they are a bit different than the ones from the University. Still....you should have no problems with them."

Alec took the book from Nova and studied the cover. It felt old and worn, but that was the sort of book he could appreciate. It meant that they had stood the test of time and were still relevant. He could smell almost smell all the hands that had touched it. It brought him a strange sense of comfort. He wasn't sure why, but he liked it.

"Thanks. I don't know how much good it will do me, but I wont let it go to waste."

"Thank you Nova..." as she took the book she felt conflicted about learning more on fire. She had dropped it as a concentration because Alec had pointed out that it is so destructive toward nature. "Um... not to seem ungrateful but... I'd really would like to learn something that would compliment more with Alec's nature magic. I know I'm pretty good with fire but I don't use it often because it affects how much he could do with his magic."

Nova hadn't thought about that to be perfect honest. He focused on the magic itself instead of the user. A mistake.

"Ah yes, a mistake on my behalf but when you master it you do not really have to burn anything but your target." Nova explained trying to make up for his mistake. He hated making those but there was truth in his words. He removed a corner of his bread and placed it on the table. A small fire erupted from it, consuming it. After it finished there was nothing left it. Not even the ashes. But most importantly, there was no scorch mark on the table.

"You see as you get better with Fire you can perfectly control the collateral damage and when Alec get's better control of Wind, not if, when he can feed the flame and help you control it." Nova finished. " But if you insist then I suppose I could teach you Earth Magic however I do wish for you to give Summoning your all."

Kerana watched as Nova demonstrated. She had read somewhere that this was possible and Nova was able to prove it. She nodded at his last comment, yet wondered,Isn't there something more useful?. "I was thinking, would it be possible to teach me some holy magic? We tend to be facing a lot of undead stuff. Even more so if we are up against a necromancer. Though if you feel that it may be more benificial to the group that I learn earth I shall look into it."

Nova sighed. Kids these days...no patience what so ever when it comes to magic.

"Your fire worked well against those before Kerana. You know the ranking of the elements with Light and it's subgroup Holy being ranked at the top. You are working with the basics. I understand you want to be useful but you would be skipping a whole lot of steps which isn't good for you. I've seen people skipping steps like you are suggesting. They destroyed their crest because they weren't ready. You are not ready, not by a long shot. So are your teacher I refuse to teach you anything of that level at the moment. My ways may be different than that of the University but are certain rules that I will not break. Understand?" Nova said. At first he sounded a bit soft but as he progressed it sounded more strict.

Kerana's ears slopped down, her eyes lowered,"Yes sir..." she could feel herself begining to fall apart. The fox girl excused herself from the table leaving half her breakfast and the book behind. She walked out the door waiting for the others. Heavy tears fell, she never heard a teacher speak to her that way. With not much effort she formed a little ball of light having it float around her hands in figure eights and spirals as she thought. Was it so wrong of me to suggest such a thing? Trinity didn't know any magic and she could do holy... Why is it so far fetched? Why is he so fixed on me going with fire instead of light?. The light sparked a little in frustration of her last thought.

Nova sighed loudly. She ran away again. Does she do that often?

"Do they discipline you with feathers and kind words at the University?" He asked Alec. He didn't feel sorry for her at all. It was in his right to deny her request since it was too dangerous for her at the moment. The last thing he wants weighing on his conscience was having that girl lose her ability to use magic because he taught her something out of her league.

Discipline?

At the sight of seeing his beloved reduced to tears, Alec's words were now a bit more full bodied. "Not at all. We're disciplined when we wreck a part of the college during an experiment. We are disciplined when we are out past curfew. When we ask what can be done to obtain abilities past our preconceived notions of our limits, they explain without belittling."

"Please excuse me, Professor, I should keep an eye on her."
Alec stood up, his mannerisms now back to their normally meek self. He shuffled outside to Kerana and watched her for a bit as she made the light dance between her hands.

"Kerana, are you alright?"

He should talk with that tone more often. Would certainly change people's opinion of him. But belittling? I did no such thing. I explained why and gave an example. Well I suppose it was my tone.

Nova sighed again. Rules should be obeyed. They are there for a reason. Same goes for the tiers of magic. But he believed he might know why Kerana would suggest it. Trinity. She could use it so why not her?

"Maybe I should have explained that you are the exception to that rule. That those rules don't seem to apply to you. Now she thinks she should wield Holy Magic too. Even if she can create a little orb of light that is nothing like Holy or even Light magic." Nova said.

A quiet sigh was all that came out from Ale's mouth as he watched the scene unfold. Slowly, he stood after finishing his food. "I'm done." He simply said as he walked outside. Taking out a small piece of charcoal and a piece of paper, he began to attempt to sketch the view from the front of the inn.

Kerana's ears twitched as she heard Alec stand up to Nova. The frustration simmered away a little. In a way she was glad she wasn't just being dramatic, Nova really was belittling her, was it so wrong to want to be more of an asset to the group? Ofcourse she wouldn't take the direct route if it affected her magic so dramatically, she honestly wanted to be on the right path at least. Why did he have to go and shove fire down her throat when she recalled that she did mention at some point to him that she was majoring in light. To assume so much about her based on the little time they spent together. The frustration built up again the more she thought about it. Her little ball of light fizzled and popped when Alec asked about her well being.

"Why did he have to be such a jerk?" she folded her arms. "I've done nothing but look up to him but it seemed ... no matter how much I listen to his wisdom. My words are lost.... At this rate... I'm not sure if we should hang out around them any more..." She felt such uncertainty, she began to feel her eyes well up as things start to fall apart again.

"Kids...." Nova muttered. "Do they even realize the danger of this at all? " He wanted to say something else but he suddenly erupted into a series of coughs. Hard violent ones. More time... Please give me more time Covering his mouth hardly helped as the blood seeped through his fingers. It was a relief when it stopped. He was going to die. He knew it. His only wish right now was more time. Wiping off the blood on the inside of his robe he got up. "Well time to go fix this....We....I don't have time to delay. We can't send them back because of that damn Necromancer. Blast it!" Nova said growing angry. He really didn't have time for these petty fits of a child. "I'd like to leave soon Trinity so when you are done eating please join Alejandro if you would" Nova had to keep this group together until the end of his time. And none knew when that was.

Picking up the book he left and marched straight towards Kerana. He ignored Alec. "You want to be stronger? Be of help? Then master the contents in this book." Pushing the book against her he continued" Prove to me that you are better and stronger than you seem. And I will teach you. It could still break your Crest. That would leave you in permanent and constant pain. But if you still want to then start improving until I see that you are good enough!" Nova said doing his best not to shout. There was no time for this!

"The same goes for you Alec!" Nova said as he turned." Don't say that you aren't sure if you can learn from that book. A guardian should be stronger than it's master. Improve, grow! There is no maybe. I will turn you into the greatest Wind and Nature Mage ever if your need is great enough!" Nova stopped as a cough interrupted him. Cursing that he had to find out this way that anger seemed to increase the frequencies of the coughs.

" Please...there is no time" he spoke softly.
