Anya nodded. 'Yes Sir." She smiled going to wash up. She was quick about it and soon entered the dinning room.

Marron sat at the head of the table, a grand feast set on the table before him. The other tweleve thrones, once empty, were now taken. Tall, lean figures, male and female, muscular and radiating power, sat in the seats. The other necromancers were varied in appearance, but they all stared at Anya with the same predatory, grey, eyes.
The seat to Marron's right was open, and the necromancer smiled widely as he gestured for his pupil to sit "Ah, she has arrived. May I introduce my pupil, Anya" he said, almost in a superior tone. SOme of those that watched Anya frowned or smiled, some ignored her outright and went back to talking to one another.

Anya blushed and stood straight as she looked at the others, for the first time she could remember she felt intimidated. She swallowed the lump of embarrassment forming in her throat and nodded to Marron as he addressed her. She, however, remained silent unsure of her place at the moment. She quietly walked over to take her seat beside Marron.

Marron smiled at Anya, placing a hand on hers, whispering to her "It will be fine dear Anya, they are a skeptical bunch, but they are good people...." he said, glancing down the table, the other necromancers already talking amongst themselve, sharing the news from across the world, their servents, dead men and such, serving their food.
"Well, most of them are" Marron chuckled, his grey cat eyes sparkling slightly as he smiled at his pupil.

((Sorry I've been gone from this one Jess. Almost forgot about it sweatdrop ))

[[no problem ^.^]]

Anya smiled and nodded to Marron. "I see." She said not knowing what else to say. "Do you all gather together often?"

Marron's smile widened "Oh no, not often at all, this is the first time in nearly fifty years" he said, offering her a platter of delicate looking morsels "And the occasion is you, if you're thinking of asking" he chuckled, waving away the skeleton servent that stood next to him.

Anya took what was offered to her. "For myself?" She asked blushing as she did. "Is the taking of a pupil such a big deal?"

"Oh yes, the art of necromancy is a very 'stand-offish' kind of magic, and few ever become interested in it or think of using it. It is also the fact that you are now, technically, a worshipper of our god, the God of Death" Marron said, setting the platter down and smiling at her warmly. He picked up his knife and fork and began to eat, motioning for Anya to not be so shy. A skeleton servent placedd a plate before her with the choiciest of bit on it, a little side-order Marron had given it.
"Do eat my dear, you'll want to taste this before you can't taste much anymore" Marron said, a mischevious twinkle in his eyes.
ANother of the necromancers snorted, a slim, hawk-like looking elf with the tips of his ears chopped off "Oh keep that joke got old long ago" he said, his voice slightly nasally. Marron smiled and stuck out his tongue at the elf.
"Grond, you ruined it!" he said.

Anya looked confused. "A joke? I'm afraid I don't understand." She blinked taking a bite as Marron had prompted her she then smiled and giggled a bit, a delightful little sound coming from her. "Or perhaps you just aren't funny Master Marron." She teased.

Many of the others snickered or chuckled, not too surprised by the wit of the girl. She was already promising in their eyes.
"Well, that's close to the mark" a woman said, he thin frame barely covered by the thin straps that made up her 'dress'.
Marron frowned "Well, so nice of you all" he said, pointedly turning his head from the table.
A few more snickers, and Marron's grey cat eyes flicked to the table "Oh no, not this time." he said, pointing at the roast chicken laying on the table. It had begun to twitch, one of the other necromancers seeming to fin it funny to make it get up to dance.
It fell over, flopping onto the platter.
"You lot, mocking my jokes, and desecrating my fine feast!" Marron said, mocking exasperation.

Anya stifled more giggled and watched as the chicken was stopped from moving. She took a breath and placed a finger to her lips breathing out, an almost inaudible whistle came from her lips and the whine in Marron's cup rose up to look like a tiny woman's figure in bowed and help up it's hands. "Sorry Sir Marron." It whispered before spinning around and diving back into his cup as normal wine.

Marron sighed, but he smiled widely after a moment "It has been a long time, since we gathered...." he began, giving Anya a soft smile "...and today, we gather for a special reason. You know that reason, she sits at my left hand" he motioned with her left hand, barely touching Anya's hand.
"This marks the beginning of an age, and then end of our extinction" Marron said his cat eye glinting brightly, glowing a deep crimsion for a moment "What say you fellow brothers and sisters? Will you help me make Anya the greatest of us?" he asked.
The others, slightly surprised by Marron's change of direction, were silent for a moment, thinking of what this meant. To make this girl greater then all of them, would mean to make her more powerful than a god.

Anya blushed, listening intently to Marron speak. "I..I don't think i am to be the best of anything." She stammered under her breath.

Marron frowned when he heard Asha's mumbled words, and he wasn't the only one to hear. The elf, Grond, stood, clearing his throat "Marron, your offer is...." he was silent, thinking shrewdly of a word that would neither offend nor give hope to the necromancer "...unorthadox. We cannot make her what we cannot be" there were murmers of agreement from a few, though some were silent.
"How about a bargain instead of a joint teaching?" a short, balding creature said, standing in his chair. His ears were long and crooked, extendign beyond his hair, much like a pair of wings. His nose was bulbose and hooked slightly, makign his head look like some round, stubby-winged bird. He was Sibgib, the only halfer necromancer in history.
"What do you propose then?" Marron said, disappointed greatly. He didn't show it though, sittign down, now ignoring the food left on the table.
Sibgib smiled, showing crooked and grey teeth "Why, you were the first to actively search for an apprentice, and you acheived that in one try, finding her in the first, and closest city to you" he coughed, clearing his throat, glad that the other eleven necromancers were finally giving him notice.
"I propose that if by the end of the winter season, we all have apprentices. If not, those who do not, help Marron teach his pupil" a few necromancers reguarded him with apprehension. Others looked at him if he was a brilliant fool. One, Grond, looked at him with disdain.
"This way w-"
"We shall all have apprentices, and thus, Necromancy and faith in Chemosh, lives on after we are gone, and our pupils have someone to compete with, to test their mettle against" Marron finished, a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eyes.

Anya nodded. "I have no objection to competition." She said either regaining her confidence or drawing it from the goddess she still did not know resided with in her. She gave a half smile, almost an apologetic one. "But I fear the world today will not offer you many candidates for pupils."
