Finding Peace in The Darkness (Vampire / werewolf)

Wanabli couldn't make herself eat, but sat and sipped some tea. Coffee was too bitter to her. She watched the sky out the window and listened to the sounds throughout the inn. Everyone was asleep, but she heard the nightmares, the fearfull murmurings in the night air, pleadings. You never heard those who had good dreams, they never made a sound, but people with nightmares never slept soundly. She though one of the ones whispering in their sleep was a familiar voice, that vampire she had talked with.

Fang had been awake when Crystal began to mutter her frightened words of fright. He had just gotten dressed after taking a short shower and heard her. For two seconds he watched her toss and turn then he immediately ran to her side. Fang began to shake her gently while saying,"Hey, it'll be alright. You're safe now, I won't let anything happen to you." He said all this before he could stop himself and he began to blush. Fang hoped that Crystal wouldn't notice when she woke up.  

[Sweets Secret Alternative]

Kai-Syroan threw an object into the lake and sat near the edge in deep contemplation. He reflected on the previous events and thought back to the figures he saw last night.

"Rogues..." muttering a soft whisper he grasp a body nearby and examined its face. dark, bloodshot eyes rolled into the back of its head. Jagged hair, greyed teeth and skin, so pale you could see the very veins pumping through. The victim gasp slightly and began to lash out blindly at a desperate attmept then fell limp as Kai-syroan tossed it into the depths of the lake.

"You will never forget me." The voice of her nightmare said, before Crystal finally awoke.

"Oh..sorry." Crystal mumbled when she noticed Fang standing over her. Crystal wanted so badly to cry, but she wouldn't in front of Fang. She didn't like showing any signs of weaknesses..It was bad enough that Fang now knew about her nightmares ..How was she going to explain them to him? Crystal sighed. "Thanks for waking me." she said.

Fang breathed a quick sigh of relief that she didn't hear the affectionate way he had spoken to her just then. He then asked,"So, who were you telling to stop?" He hoped he might get something so he could help her to either face her fears or to help defeat them.

Crystal sighed. How much should she tell Fang? She couldn't keep hiding it forever. She just wasn't sure she was ready to tell him. What if he started thinking of her differently because of it? What if he started to pity her? She didn't need pity..

"Th-...The man who turned me into a vampire..." Crystal whispered.  

[Amaroq K]

Fang's face softened and he sat down on the bed next to her and said,"Can't have been fun being forcefully turned into a vampire. At least it's easier to get used to being a vampire than a werewolf. When I got bit, I had to go through a painful process. However, I think that you still wish you hadn't gotten bit right? Well, at least your nightmares are about that. My nightmares................................never mind. The point is you can't dwell on the past, what's done is done and there is nothing you can do about it other than move forward."

"Sometimes when bad things happen in the past..They stop you from moving forward." Crystal said. "Being turned into a monster wasn't the worse thing that happened to me that night.."

"What are your nightmares about, Fang? " Crystal asked. "..I understand if you don't want to answer that." She added quickly, so as to not pressure him into answering her. Although she was curious, she didn't want him telling her if he wasn't ready to.

Wanabli let out a heavy sigh. Ahe decided to go for a walk in the light of the moon. Wlaks at night always seemed to calm her. Se went out the door, carefully making sure the door didn't lock behind her. As she stepped out she looked up at the stars, and began to wander. She stared at the stars wistfully, sadly. 'peace is not something so easily obtained' she thought, 'for peace only seems to ocure after the outbreak of war, only after so much has been lost." She paused , seeing that she was near the lake, and looked at the reflection of the stars in the water, and sighed. 'And then it is a grudging peace that ensues, both sides holding grudges for lives and loves lost, by acknowleding that neither can survive by war's continuation.' She closed her eyes as a tear trickled silently down her cheek. 'But it always returns.'

Kai-Syroan bowed his head to the fallen he had disposed of into the lake and whispered a silent prayer. He lifted his head towards the moon and gazed at it for a while before walking back to the village for some supplies.

Whilst he walked, he noticed a woman standing alone and what seemed to be tears in her eyes. He examined her silently, quite the pretty werewolf he mused to himself as he continued walking in the shadows.

Fang looked down at his knees as he began,"Look, you know how humans become a werewolf for the first time? If not, then here's the truth. There are some who are able to control themselves the first time they transform into the werewolf. However, most lose control and they..........." at this point Fang had gotten up an sat himself down in a corner. "..........they attack, kill, and feed on whatever happens to be near them if it's not a werewolf. Usually those that lose control don't remember who or what they killed." Fang was silent for a long time and then he muttered quietly,"I was one of those that lost control, but I remembered everything." Fang began to shake uncontrollably.

"I'm sorry, Fang." Crystal said softly, putting her arms around her friend. "Don't blame yourself for losing control..and..like you said.. You can't change the past..All you can do is move forward."

Fang nodded his head in agreement as he replied,"You're right and my nose tells me we should get going. I feel we are in for a long day." Fang wondered if Crystal would notice that he had not yet come to terms with what he had done even though it was such a long time ago.

Crystal could tell that Fang still was upset about what he had done so long ago. She didn't push the subject though. He obviously wanted to drop the topic.

Fang looked to Crystal as he began packing his bag and then he realized that Crystal had not nor had the time to take a shower earlier. He then blushed and asked, "Do you want to take a shower?" He thought to himself that how selfish could he get.
