Courtyard (North)

[Misao]

Dr. Yuki arched an eyebrow at Mr. Gellim as he patted Ellohim on the back, waving his hand dismissively.

"Ha! Don't be foolish! That fellow there is simply a figment of an overactive collective subconscious! Everyone knows there's no scientific basis for the existence of faerie creatures such as him and his entourage!"

He turned to Ellohim, bowing gracefully.

"No offense intended, of course, your grace."  

[Tekishe]

"From?" The large lizard man says as he walks towards Hiko. "Girl, I am from a place whose firey damnation and barren endless planes are enough to drive any mere mortal insane." His voice begins to raise has he thrust both hands in the air, "a place whose toweer of flame interact with the air in such ways that you cannot trust your own eyes, if the have have not yet melted out of their sockets!" He begins a deepthroated and maniacal laugh as Tekishe's mother approaches and tells Hiko.

"Oh, he's just being silly, we're from South Dakota."

"Aren't my parents cool?" Tekishe comments to anyone nearby.

Terry gives a half smile to Elspeth and forces a laugh. "Families are kinda embarassing aren't they?" He looks over at his dad. "Or maybe it's just me. He's been that way ever since mom died."

Mr. Gellim ignores Dr. Yuki's statement, instead striking up a conversation with Ellohim. "Ah, from the fairy realms are you? I don't know much 'bout them myself. Wife used to, but bless her heart, she's gone now. Left me all alone to raise Tariq. WHY MY LOVELY ANGEL, WHY DID YOU LEAVE US SO SOON!" crying He looks to Tekishe's parents as they arrive. "EVEN THOSE OF THE FIRE REALMS CAN FIND LOVE TOGETHER AND YET YOU LEAVE US HERE, YOUR BELOVED HUSBAND AND CHILD!"

He snaps out of it and smiles. "Welcome, emisarries of the elemental plane. That was a rather impressive circle you produced."  

[Misao]

Hikaru's eyes bulge widely at Tekishe's father's description of where they come from, her smile just continuing to grow as her excitement builds. By the end of the story, she can hardly contain herself, and she squeals out loudly.

"THAT'S SO COOL!"

She is so caught up in thinking about this that she completely misses the clarification from Tekishe's mother about where the family is actually from.

"Your parents are awesome, Tek!"  

[Tekishe]

"I know, aren't they?" Tekishe says, impressed with himself. After thanking Terry's father for his comliment on the portal, and, noticing that he is also a summoner, promises to tell him how to do the same himself, as it is a slightly modified summon spell before she turns to Tekishe.

"So Tekishe, would you like to introduce us to your friends here?"

"WOULD I?!?!" Tekishe yells, before pointing in everyones direction and telling their names to her, "That's Terry, and this is Hiko and that is Elspeth and oh man this place is so awesom, I love you for this mom." He says in a spurt of excitement before hugging her. "I'm glad you like it too."

Breaking from his laughter Tekishe's father comes over and joins in the hug, casuing Tekishe to yell "Hugfest" as he looks invitingly in eveyone's direction.

Mr. Gellim enthusiastically joins the huddle, wrapping his arms around the family as best he can and singing his hair on Tekishe's father. The water works begin again.

Terry, however, tunes out whatever it is his father is blabbering about by turning to Hiko and El. "So, the dorms are over that way I think." He points to the floating domes on the other side of campus. His hand trembles a bit at the distance. Its so far and with everyone acting like this they're sure to draw attention. "Do you think maybe we should get them walking?"  

[Elspeth Armstrong]

"It's a bit strange, but nice. It's kind of like being blindfolded and spun around at a birthday party and getting a stick to hit the pinata with.. it's confusing and you're afraid of looking silly in front of everyone and you can't think straight, but if you just have fun and swing away there's candy for everyone." Her words, despite being odd, were spoken with a quiet wisdom as she pat his back.

Ellohim peered at Dr. Yuki at this, whispering in a conspiratorial fashion to Mr. Gellim. "Good druid, we fear that this one may be from the church... we ourselves cannot, but you must make certain that he does not bear bells on his person, or that dreaded wafer..." A suspicious look was given to the doctor before his attention returned. "And see if he has been baptised..."  

[Misao]

Hikaru looks at Terry and El, then at the giant hugpile, then at her father trying to explain to El's father why his very existence is logically impossible, and then finally at Terry and El again.

"Um... yeah, now that you mention it, we probably ought to get going." sweatdrop

She cups her hands over her mouth, yelling over to her father.

"Hey dad! Let's go! We still have to get everyone moved in! I bet if we all help each other out, we'll be done in no time!"

Dr. Yuki snaps to attention at his daughter's call, giving her a sharp salute. "Right you are, my daughter! Time is precious! We must make use of every second!" He leans down to pick up the bags he'd dropped when he came vaulting down from the tree, and begins following after his daughter and the others.

Terry smiles at Elspeth. "Thanks," he says. "I...Thanks." He whipes his nose for no good reason and shoulders one of his bags.

Mr. Gelim returns the fairy's tone, "I wouldn't worry. The church aint what it used to be and they've had quite a falling out with the science types in the past few years. If he's a scientists you can pretty much guarantee he doesn't carry wafers and hosts around with him." He winks and then attempts to drag Ellohim into the hugfest.  

[Tekishe]

Soon, the hugfest begins to disintegrate as Tekishe's father fears that he may set the hippies dreads on fire. Brushing the wrinkles out of his coat he turns to Tekishe, who is still wildly smiling and hanging of his increasingly worried mother's neck. "So, Tekishe, where is this room of yours so we can get somewhere warm?"

Letting go of his mother, and officially ending the hug, he points in the direction of Riakiri. "Oh, uhh, It's over there" causing the box carrying rock elementals to begin marching in a line towards the large sphere. Tekishe's mother turns to the others before saying in a kind and apologetic voice "It's nice to meet you, and thank you for being friends with Tekishe." Before the three of them head off towards the dormitory.

When the hugfest pile thing eventually disengages, Terry prods his dad into picking up the extra bags and following him across the courtyard towards the dorms. He's still kind of red from embarassment as he sees other students watching the procession of parents and children cross the grassy quadrangle, but Elspeth's words are buzzing in his ear as well, and the red doesn't feel quite as bad as it usually does.

Terry heads off after the group to the floating buildings.  

[Misao]

Hikaru leads the way toward the dorms, accompanied by her father, Terry, Elspeth, and entourage of various faerie creatures. Soon, the group behind them - composed of Tekishe and his family, Elspeth's father and the rest of his court, and Terry's father, who was lagging behind - catch up.

Hikaru smiles, running a bit ahead of the group in her eagerness to reach the dormitories.

Hiro watched in awe as various parents came wandering onto the campus, bearing the belongings of their child. He stared in shock at Terry's shouting father, the likes of which he'd never seen before in his life. Then his eyes switched to Hikaru and her over-dramatic father in his labcoat. They widened greatly as Elspeth's father and a whole grouping of fearies appeared. Finally he saw a new boy and his parents, the boy who kept yelling 'hugfest' repeatedly.

Hiro took this all in, in a sort of daze, amazed by what was happening. It made him miss his parents and think of what could be happening if they hadn't been killed... but he quickly pushed the thoughts away and grinned. And he'd thought the students here were strange... Now he knew where they got it from. He shook his head to himself in amusement and glanced down at Yuki absently, shifting her more comfortably in his grasp. He jumped slightly as he saw her staring up at him, face blazing red. Hiro just laughed. "How long have you been awake?"

Yuki smiled despite her scarlet face. "Since Terry's father came in shouting," she nodded with a quiet laugh, slipping from Hiro's grasp. she landed on the ground, wobbling for a moment and grabbing his arm for support. Then she quickly withdrew her hand, still blushing. "Sorry," she murmured.

Hiro shook his head. "No, I'm sorry..." Then he looked back at her, stretching out the arms he hadn't moved since picking her up originally.

Yuki waved off his apology and looked around, watching as the group went off towards the dorms. "Very odd..." she laughed to herself. Her hand came almost automatically to her stomach, feeling the missing cloth there. She sighed, then wandered to the nearest tree and sat at its base, arms across her stomach to hide the showing skin. She glanced up at Hiro as he approached and sat beside her, but neither said anything.

She gripped Shadow's hand, nodding to his warning. Jasper didn't know if she planned to follow it or not...

" Shadow,'' she said quietly, placing her hand on his forearm to calm him, ''It's okay...''

Jasper reached out with her fingers, coming within an inch of the man's hand. She blinked once and a blue spark jumped between them. It grew, coiling up him arm and sunk into Riedonu's flesh.

'I'd appreciate it if you didn't touch me thanks.'' her tone was light but her eyes sang of danger.
