Boarding School For the Gifted~

Rakata heard what TJ had said, and smiled.
"i can make that happen." he told her.
with that he closed his eyes and began manipulating the moisture in the air. he formed clouds high above the earth, gigantic black storm clouds began forming soon, and the wind picked up. people on the street stopped to look for a moment, and moved on. weather changed fast in this area of the country. but Rakata had lost himself in the storm. he immersed himself in its creation. soon it began raining, but it wasnt a hard, pelting rain. its was a soft steady rain. one that you could be out in and enjoy. he walked over to TJ and put his arm around her.
"watch this" he told her.
he snapped his fingers and a burst of brillian blue lightning flashed, and illuminated everything for a split second.
"you said you wished it would rain again." he said, smiling.

TJ's face lit up, and not just because of the flash of lightning. She stared up in awe at the darkened sky, the gentle droplets of water falling steadily from the clouds, and she let out a laugh as excited as that of a child being told she was allowed to play with the kitten in the pet store. Simultaneously, she bit her lip and covered her wide grin with her hand, and it was hard to say if she did so before or after she realized he had slipped his arm around her.

"Yes, I did," she agreed. After a pause to savor the moment, she took his hand and hopped down from the curb, straight into the middle of the shower. Even if she had wanted to, she wouldn't have been able to stop smiling. "It's amazing.... Thank you."

Rakata smiled. he was happy that for once he was able to cause happiness instead of pain. he stood on the sidewalk and watched TJ for a moment., keeping himself semi-dry with a layer of air around his body. al flash of lightning lit up the sky, but instead of flashing and dissipating, Rakata drew it to himself, and drew it into an orb of blue light. he stopped to consider it for a moment. it was so full of energy, that it almost seemed to be alive. he frowned, thinking. was this just another life lesson for him to unravel? or was it simply his imagination? he released the pent up lightning back into the sky where it unleashed itself, the pealing thunder was almost like a cry of joy, or mirth. for a moment, Rakata tried to imagine what lightning would say if it could speak beyond thunder. then it dawned on him. thunder was its voice. lightning was as alive as any other person. each crack of thunder could convey emotions on such an arcane level, that he was nearly overwhelmed by it. and for the first time in years...perhaps his entire life, Rakata was completely happy. everything seemed to be washed away while he stood there in the rain.

TJ's smile faded, but not because she was any less happy; she simply had to stare in awe as Rakata took a bolt of lighting straight out of the sky and collected it into a tight sphere of brilliant energy. She knew he had been cultivating and practicing his abilities, but she hadn't realized just how powerful he had become. If that power had fallen into the hands of practically anyone else-- she'd have shuddered to imagine.

She was distracted from the image as Rakata released the energy back into the sky and it split the air with a thunderclap louder than she had ever heard before. She shrieked with laughter, safely drowned out by the rumble of the thunder, although she clapped a hand over her mouth to muffle herself anyway. She felt the comfort of the rain as she stared up at the sky, the lightning flashing behind foreboding clouds, breaking through with tendrils of white light. Never before had she seen a storm so beautiful....

The shock wave from the lightning bolt he released was more than he had anticipated, but it was truly an exhilarating experience. just like the first time he had parachuted out of a plane during training. he let himself be taken by the storm. he stretched out his with his mind and felt every tendril of cloud and every bolt of lightning that had yet to be released. he waited and at the right moment, he kicked up a compressed ball of sand he had saved in a package from Egypt, and at the same time, he directed a bolt of lightning right into it. the extreme heat caused the Egyptian sand to fuse into glass, containing the lightning bolt into a glass orb roughly the size of a tennis ball. the orb of lightning/glass dropped into his hand. he did the same thing with another package of Egyptian sand that he had been saving for this occasion.
Rakata walked over to TJ with both orbs of lightning filled glass. he handed her one of them.
"i thought this would be something you would like to have. ive been waiting a long time to try that, and i had promised myself, that you would get the first one i made."
he smiled and looked to the orb of lightning, which was happily ricocheting around the glass. if the lightning had a face, Rakata was sure ist would be smiling just as broadly as he was.

TJ's eyes widened farther than seemed humanly possible. "How did you...?" she began, but trailed off as Rakata transferred the perfect glass sphere into her hand. The lightning inside was intensely bright, but she couldn't help but stare, it was so beautiful.

She dragged her gaze from the orb to meet Rakata's, and she felt ridiculous for it but tears were beginning to sting her eyes. Holding on tightly to the ball of lightning, hardly daring to drop it, she flung her arms around his neck and buried her face in his shoulder. "Thank you," she whispered-- and even more softly, perhaps too quiet for him to hear, she said, "I love you." He had become like a brother, or as close as she would ever find; he was her mentor, her wild adventurer, her lightning storm embodied, her best friend.... How could she help but love him?

it made Rakata pause for a moment. he hand heard those words in almost a year...it caught him off guard, but like anything, he quickly adapted. TJ was the one person who truly understood him on a level that even he couldnt comprehend.
"i love you too." he told her. it was the final step. she was the one, he decided. and it would be so for the rest of his life.

((AAAAH!!! I'M SO SORRY, YOU GUYS!! I've been so super busy with all sorts of school and theatre and miscellaneous shenanigans I've forgotten to post for.... two months? Aah! >_< Sorry sorry sorry!!! Well, here, lemme think back a bit....))

TJ could have held on forever. Never before had she let anyone get close to her-- even if anyone had wanted to. Closeness only ever ended in tragedy, and even though her skin could heal in minutes she had always been too scared to let her heart out to anybody, to become vulnerable. But she wasn't scared now. Not here, not with Rakata. She lifted her head and smiled at him, then kissed him. Another step taken toward becoming human.

"Sorry," she said immediately thereafter. Her face felt hot and she knew her cheeks must be an embarrassing shade of pink. Reluctantly she let go of him, and opened her soaking-wet messenger bag to slip the glass ball inside, admiring the lightning as she transferred the orb into the safety of the bag. "I didn't mean to... sorry...."

Rakata kissed her back. yet another exhilarating experiance. she retreated and apologized.
"dont be sorry. your everything i could want. now i realize how empty my life has been without someone like you. dont be sorry." he told her as he embraced her. the rain was rolling off his soaked hair, and his clothes were matted to his skin. but he couldnt have been a happier person.

((Boo, we're just not breaking character, that's the extent of it. Go make something drastic happen at the school - TJ won't sense it, but Rakata probably will, and then we can come and fight ninjas or blow stuff up or whatever. But you gotta make it happen, or else we're just gonna sit here and hold hands and eat pizza!!))

TJ hated herself for quite a long moment. They'd had such a beautiful connection, and she had broken it simply because she was too scared. The fear ebbed away as Rakata held her, but painfully slowly, lingering until it made sure it had gotten the last laugh.

He was wet; he wasn't shielding himself from the rain anymore. TJ smiled despite herself, and tightened her grip. Suddenly she laughed and asked, "Is this what being normal feels like? Being terrified and excited and overjoyed and all of that? It doesn't seem normal... but if it isn't, I don't think I really care. I like it this way."

((god ive seen a snail move at a faster pace than this RP. : anyway Shadow is back {Revenent now} and if anyone gets this post...im probably already dead...or eating pizza...on second though. lets go with the pizza. ive been pretty busy this summer. hows it been for you guys?))

Rakata heard he ask about feeling normal. "normal is just a mind set. ive always been the way i am, so its normal to me. the same way that its normal to me that everyone around me has some sort of gift. though you given me a gift that goes beyond anything i could do, TJ. you gave me a reason to love again." he said. he layed his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes, and felt the rain wash over him.

I've been quite busy too. This has probably been simultaneously the worst and best summer ever....))

TJ closed her eyes too, and ran her fingers through Rakata's soaked hair, pushing away the locks that were plastered to his face. "You've done so much more than that," she murmured, and kissed his forehead.

It was then that her stomach decided to shatter the moment and remind her just how long it had been since they'd eaten by growling with a volume that could have rivaled the thunder overhead. TJ laughed and said, "Come on, let's get inside and get something to eat before we both keel over and die out here."
